O'Neill slasher front zip

Currently at Swiss for 5 days, and today the air was roughly 60 and the water probably 65-68ish. Also I skiied with only a vest and shorts, no wetsuit. That in itself should add considerably to my BI score. Cold water actually feels really warm when you've been flying down a lake for 30 seconds and you get set down at the end.

@GregHind‌ I would post pictures, but I'm currently in Florida and the boat is in storage for the winter in Nebraska. Tall probably isn't the right word to describe the wakes, it's not the height that's the problem as they are similar in size to an inboard wake, maybe slightly higher. The thing I'd like to find a way around is the hardness of the wake. Does the plate help with that? Also where does the hardness come from? The only thing I could think of is the prop mixing air into the water, but that still doesn't seem likely.

Anyone here ski behind an outboard? Our current boat is a '99 Stratos fish and ski with a 150 hp evinrude on the back. After skiing behind a real ski boat for the first time this year, I can't believe I was able to ski behind our boat. The wake is tall and hard, anyone know the reason for this? Also no ski platform which makes it near impossible to put double boot skis on. Wasn't a problem when I was using the rubber binding recreational ski, but Vapor boots are something else when you're trying to put them on in the boat. I now have tons of respect for anyone that can ski proficiently without a ski boat. Also, if I get a ski boat the trolling motor and fishfinder from the old boat WILL be getting mounted on the ski boat.

What if we add more buoys?

I'm in Nebraska, so I'm definitely alright with the cold. If necessary I will probably just get a rash guard while there.

@Wish‌ thanks for the help! Would you recommend a wetsuit for skiing there? I've never had any experience with skiing in non summer weather.

For the Ballers down in the Orlando area, what is the water temperature like down there? I will be skiing at Swiss from the 24th-28th of this month am wondering if it's still pretty warm there.

Cable drawn wakeboarding is actively using a power source during the event, so if the Olympic Committee approves of that idea, why would they have an objection to a ski boat pulling slalom skiiers?

What would be a good mainline to buy for use next season? Last summer was my first season so I don't need the latest and greatest in rope technologies, just something that will get the job done. I was reading through some past threads and saw a lot of In-Tow and ML ropes used, but what about the Radar Vapor/Strada ropes for $50?

I've always thought an airboat would be a good ski boat since there's virtually no wake. I guess some people might not want that much wind in their face when they ski though.

It's entirely up to you. This summer I went from using a recreational slalom ski with rubber bindings that couldn't keep my feet from sliding in place to a Vapor double boot. The double boot can be uncomfortable after a while just because your feet are stuck in place, but overall I like it. Safety wise I would say you are better off with a double because with a RTP your back foot is guaranteed to fall out, whereas with the double boot there is a chance both could stay in. I don't ski fast enough or short enough lines to worry about major crashes, so I'm not much help there.

Here's a somewhat cleaned up version of @oldjeep design. I moved the logo up above the course, but am still running into the problem of the ski line. Using the straight line makes it look unnatural, but freehanding it looks horrible. Update: thought of an idea to make the turn arcs look symmetrical, finished product soon.

I thought about the anchor system also. Ideally you could have something like the PowerPole, which is an extendable pole anchor used on bass boats. The problem would be the depth you are limited to, probably less than 10 ft. You would definitely want a strong anchor, since it doesn't take much to move buoys. About a month ago I was skiing green buoys (still learning the course) with a couple bricks on the line, after a couple passes the wake was enough to move them well out of the way.

Movies need plot. Not sure how much plot one can get from weaving in and out of orange buoys in the water.

@6balls I have an idea of how they could remake the floatie mount to stop that issue, 3D model coming soon.

@MS If a fishfinder went looking for it I think it would just show up like any other bump in the bottom. If you knew where it fell you could drop an ice fishing camera down and look that way.
