  1. Thanks @oldjeep That pretty much settles it.
  2. Wow, thanks for all of the responses. Since ski season is pretty much over here in Northern Ohio, I plan to winterize soon. One last trip out to "The Pond" to pull the course, so once winterized I will take the "new" battery to the parts store and have it checked, then over the winter, snag a voltmeter and begin troubleshooting using all of the info presented here. I do have one last question. If I jump in the boat now (in my garage) and turn on the battery switch then the ignition switch, what should the in-dash voltmeter read? 12 volts, right? Any lower then I know there is a drain somewhere? Again, Thank you for all of the great info. Cheers. Tom
  3. Thanks to all. I will find a multimeter and check it out. I did notice an additional wire on the positive side. I will look to see where it goes. I did have a new radio installed a few years back. Hmmmm. @MNshortliner. I purchased the boat new. Again, Thanks. I will update when I find the culprit.
  4. @skiinxs I believe you are correct. The all off means just that, all off. So why would a new battery become drained in one week. I will know more once I take the battery back and have it checked.
  5. @ESPNSkier I have not received one yet. I trust PP to get me one soon. They are the best.
  6. Update. It was the Tstat. All is well. Thanks to all.
  7. Took out the Tstat. Getting a new one tomorrow. Went up to 180 rather quickly. Got the warning light. This a 2004 Excaliber. I got the entire Tstat housing off. finally. Will check the trans cooler tomorrow. Thanks to all. I bet it is the Tstat.
  8. Thanks to all. At what age does max speed drop to 30.4?
  9. I'm with ya @A_B Been miserable. Got better this past weekend but had other commitments. Finally a south breeze tonight but couldn't get out there. Planning on tomorrow night but a west wind is projected and that is the worst direction for "The Pond"
  10. Thanks to all. Heading out today to find a good Group 65 starting auto battery. Still not skiing in Northern Ohio. Weather has been horrible.
  11. Last question. Dows anyone offer a "Group 65" marine battery?
  12. Thanks @skiinxs. That pretty much sums it up. Thanks to all.
  13. After being on this forum and Correctcraftfan, it seems there really is no hard and fast rule as to whether an automotive or marine battery should be used. However everyone seems to agree that a "starting" battery should be used. I did look at my Correct Craft manual after 15 years and found that a 650 CCA minimum, 120 AH battery is recommended. And on the underside of the battery box cover a sticker that said BCI Group #65. What does that mean? Still, no conclusive documentation on using a marine battery vs automotive. Heading out this week to find a new battery, since this spring has been so bad in northern Ohio, I have plenty of time.
  14. @C5Quest Thanks for the offer but my son just ordered a graphite a couple days ago. Damn, this would have been perfect. I should check the forum more often. Again, thanks.
  15. Thanks to all! Since I only pull the boat to our lake about 8 miles away, I think I will check all of the bearings by jacking the trailer up and see how they spin and sound. I will grease them and hope for the best. If I need to replace one, so be it. Since it is a tandem I am not going to replace them all as a preventative measure. That is indeed a lot of beer money.
  16. Thanks to all. If I replace the bearings and seals, where can I purchase them? Cheers. Tom
  17. Thanks Seth. Very nice job "on camera". I appreciate that you three told that great story.
  18. Great story. This really is a great sport. On a side note, boss hats. Where are they from?
  19. Last summer I just got the boat home after a great session and was emptying the gear to put back in the garage. You know the boilerplate on the trailer just ahead of the fender? The edge can be a bit sharp and in my usual haste my foot slipped off but the bottom of my big toe caught that plate just right. Blood everywhere. Told the wife it is only a scratch and she said that is way more than a scratch...so did my daughter in law who is a nurse at the local ER. Nine stitches later and no skiing for two weeks.
  20. Thanks to all. Jury still out on oiling the cylinders. I always have and the boat still performs like new. Why mess with a good thing.
  21. Great comments. Yep, my old HO vest felt like an extra small when I tried it on. Has anyone tried the Radar X 2.0? Expensive but looks pretty sweet. Do they run big, small?
