  1. Here is the question of the ages. It seems like I go through a trailer jack about every two years. It becomes hard to crank and sounds like the gears are shot. We trailer the boat to our site about 5 times per week. Some friends say lower the jack to keep the pressure off of the gears, others say keep it all the way up when it is back in the garage. There is no place on the trailer jack for grease so that is not the answer. I even tried to take all the pressure off of the jack and placed the trailer tongue on a block every time. That is a pain. Any thoughts?
  2. Thanks @mundo That is the answer I was looking for. I will place the order today. Thanks again for your thoughts. Cheers. Tom
  3. Thanks for the comments. So far it looks like CX is the way to go.
  4. Wow! Thanks. What is the difference between the Superlite CX and the TX?
  5. Getting a bit older (67) and ready to pull the trigger on a new ski. I currently ride a D3 Nomad. It has been a wonderful ski but I am ready for a change. I ski at 32mph and get into 28 off every once and a while. I like HO as a company and a friend of mine is an HO dealer. So...67 inch Superlite CX or TX? What do you knowledgeable folks think?
  6. Never thought of that. @igkya. Let's keep that quiet.
  7. Show is over. Headed to put her away for a long Northern Ohio winter. Time for the skinny skis.
  8. We pulled ours about a week ago. That water gets cold quickly here in Northern Ohio. This old guy hates cold water. Toasted the season with a few beers, played "Boys of Summer" and called it a season. We drove to Perrysburg yesterday and noticed yours was still in @A_B. I'm impressed. Cheers.
  9. Thanks @oldjeep I am just being lazy by not taking the hose off. You are right, it is a Perko fitting. Cheers. Tom
  10. I am going to give the following a try in a week or two. Let me know if it will work. Instead of taking one of the hoses off, I have a T-fitting on the hose just after the strainer. What about attaching the hose from the antifreeze "bucket"? No messing with pulling hoses. The T-fitting was an option on my 2004 SN 196 (I think). Works great in the spring when I connect a garden hose to it. But...it seems like I tried this method one year and since the hose coning from the bucket has no pressure like the garden hose, it would not enter the T-Fitting. There is some kind of spring in there. I just hate peeling the intake hose off on a cold day when winterizing. Will this work? I was even going to try to fabricate a fitting on the bottom of the antifreeze bucket for the hose. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  11. Great website. I have gained so much info. Keep up the good work. Heading out the door for a set or two.
  12. I am so thankful that my wife of 39 years still enjoys my passion for this sport and loves skiing our site on combos. She loves the workout and our sport. She is ready for a new pair of combos. She weighs 115 and would like better fitting bindings than the old school horseshoe rubber bindings. What length? And any particular brand and model? She is currently on 67's. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Thanks to @Horton for this site and to all who make it possible by engaging. Worth its' wait in gold.
  14. Learn something new everyday! It WAS the kill switch. The motor will turn over but will not fire if the kill switch is loose. I jiggled the switch and it fired right up. Pulled the switch and the motor cranked but would not start. Thanks to all. Problem solved. But, this made me think I should do a little preventative maintenance on the fuel system. Any suggestions? I change the oil every 50 hours but have never messed with the fuel system. Where is the filter? And, I'm not sure where the high pressure and low pressure pumps are located. Should I bleed the fuel cell? Feeling kinda ignorant at this point. Anyway, thanks for the advice. Up and running again. Cheers. Tom
  15. Thanks so much for all the feedback. Looks like it might rain here shortly so I can't pull the boat out of the garage to try to start it. As soon as I can I will report back. Thanks again.
  16. I was just messing with it and it sounds like the click, click of the high pressure pump is working. I will hook up a garden hose tomorrow and see if it fires up. Emergency shut off? Maybe it is something stupid that I did. We'll see in the A.M.
  17. I need some help from good old Ball of Spray. Boat ran great a few days ago. Went out tonight. 84 degrees and flat. Nice September night in Northern Ohio. Dropped the boat in, pushed the start button...hmmm. Did not hear the fuel pump prime. Nothing. Excalibur engine turned over but no go. I assume it is the high pressure fuel pump? Could it be a fuse? Can a pump go bad that quick? The pump is next to the fuel canister on the starboard side right? So...what next? I am somewhat mechanical, can I replace it without too much hassle? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Come on BOS!
  18. So, I'm in my mid sixties and have been skiing at 32mph for years with limited improvement. I will get into 28 on occasion but that is about it. I have run it but not very often. The few tournaments I have skied in were fun but I don't see many tournaments in the future. So I figured I would drop the speed to 30mph and start having more fun and chase more buoys. I got more buoys but that bump at 22 really shows my lack of lean on my bad side. Even though the wake on my 2004 SN isn't that bad at 22 it sure throws me. Should I go back to 32mph or just come to grips with the fact that it may be time to slow the boat down?
  19. Thanks @dvskier That answers it all. One more thing...have you ever tried to lubricate the throttle control? Not on the engine but the handle? Any tips? Cheers. Tom
  20. I have a 2004 SN 196 and have changed the trans oil many times over the years. About to do it again and I have a few questions. 1. What is the capacity? 2. It says on the tranny to use Dextron lll, but I see on this site that it is no longer available. 3. When I check the level, does it have to be running? Once again, I apologize for bringing this up again. Thanks to all on this great forum.
  21. Thanks to all. Very good advice. My current RTP is a D3 non-adjustable but looking to upgrade. Again, thanks to all.
  22. When using a RTP should the toes touch the rear of the front boot? What is the standard procedure?
  23. I will admit it, I have not been very attentive to my wife's skis over the years. She has been on a standard 67 inch combos with old school rubber bindings forever. I have been looking at new skis for her with better bindings. She weighs 118 and according to the HO website she should be on 61 inch combos. She loves to ski to just have fun. If I go forward and order the shorter skis and she hates them...there could be trouble. You get the picture. Any thoughts? I am looking at the HO Burner Pro or Burner combos. Thanks for any and all insight.
