  1. Two quick questions. What is the boat speed for different ages? (men) and to get awarded a full buoy, do you have to get back to the wake before the next boat guide or just back to the wake at any time? Thanks.
  2. Thanks @Nick Sullivan. I will give it a shot.
  3. I am on my 5th Ski Nautique and if there is one area where I still haven't found the best method it is cleaning the rub rails. Every time I tie up at a dock, those little scuff marks show up. Who has found a way to clean those? Thanks.
  4. Sorry, it was Kjellander's onside turns that were unreal.
  5. I skied with Kjellander at a seminar once. Remember his slam dunk offside turns? Nice guy. I was also at that Lansing site to watch a pro tournament. 1990 sounds about right. Remember Kim Laskoff?
  6. Sorry @nam1975 I did not know you were on here. Looks like storms this week. Ouch.
  7. Not only would I love to see that show return, here in northern Ohio I would like to see some actual hot summer nights again. We have not had one of those evenings this summer when you have to quit skiing because you cannot see the buoys. And the water is so warm you don't want to get out. Come on Mother Nature, get your act together. I'm sure you agree @AB and @AJskier.
  8. Great looking boat @AJskier. Perfect for a trip to Dale Hollow with your old OU Water Ski buddies right?
  9. I still enjoy it. Helps to keep the stoke.
  10. Yep @A_B Worst June ever. If it is warm the wind is howling out of the WSW or it is cool with a substantial NE wind. Our course hates a west wind and not too fond of northeast either. Gonna take up windsurfing.
  11. Just curious. All these years I have dropped at both ends even when not in a tournament. Got me thinking, why stress by back on deep waters 6 times instead of 3. I'm not winded after a pass and it is probably a better workout if I only drop at one end. Rollers don't seem to be a problem and it also helps the boat get to speed on the short end of or site. Thoughts?
  12. When I say crud, I mean the residue left by water dripping off the bunks ten drying on the trailer frame over the years. I did get some hull cleaner and that seems to do a decent job. Thanks to all. Any other ideas will be appreciated.
  13. I have neglected my trailer over the years and would love to remove that nasty looking crud that accumulates just under the carpeted bunks on the paint. It is more than just water spots. Any ideas? Thanks.
  14. Just curious. Has anyone used car wax such as Ice for your boat. Are there properties in boat wax that are meant for fiberglass that are not in car wax? Turtlewax Ice seems to work great but not sure if it is good for glass. And the automotive quick waxes work great as well. Thoughts? Thanks.

    What antifreeze?

Thanks @oldjeep. It is a sad time of year. My two sons and I have a tradition the day we pull the course. We play "The Boys of Summer" by Don Henley and down an 8 pack of Little Kings.

    What antifreeze?

Thanks everyone. Pink it is. Al...that is exactly the way I do it as well. Interesting that you don't need to fog the engine anymore. I have been told that there is no need on the newer engines as you stated. That was always a pain. I take it you don't take out the plugs and squirt oil in either? That never made sense anyway. The oil only went down one side of the cylinder. On a side note, bouts come out tomorrow.
  17. Bring back Hot Summer Nights.
  18. I used to go with the expensive stuff but last year I used the pink antifreeze that folks use in RV's johns. I did not have any issues and it is a lot cheaper. I keep my boat in an unheated but insulated garage here in northern Ohio. Is the pink stuff OK to use? Thoughts?
  19. Agreed. They are the best. I love the video tutorials.
  20. The season is ending here in our area but I do have some time to tweak settings in Perfect Pass. I tried using Classic mode, one of my sons liked it, the other didn't. I kinda thought the pull seemed better (softer) but I am going to stick with GPS. That being said, how can I best mess with crew weight, KX, and other settings to give me a nice soft pull? The last time out it was a bit choppy and the boat felt like it was going a million miles per hour. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
  21. Thanks @ToddL. I like the way you added lines to the stills from the video. Great visual. Thanks. Skiing is coming to a rapid close here in Ohio. The next time out I will re-read your post and work on it. Thanks to all.
  22. Link to Vimeo. Thanks again. http://vimeo.com/greendoormediaworks/review/105478048/32ebf18716
  23. So many great responses, thanks so much. I appreciate each and every one. Just another reason why I love this sport. Great people. I have become so frustrated this year I have considered just skiing at 15 off and enjoy the sport without trying to advance. Just enjoy the pull and the feeling of going around some buoys and skiing with family and friends. But that didn't last long. The competitive spirit takes over, you always strive to improve. Anyway, I found some video from a year ago while I was still on a D-3 X5. Just looking the video I solo many mistakes. T-Rex arms on the bad side, double pull, water in face on off side turn, water in face onside lean. If you want to call that a lean. So, here is the proof. So much to work on. Thanks again. I have tried every encoding scheme and cannot upload a video. What format and data size is required?
  24. @Chet Thanks, great advice. I Will take that advice and run with it. A bit of a cool snap has just begun here in Northern Ohio. I hope to get out in a day or two. 92 degrees yesterday...68 degrees today. Ouch. Thanks again.
