  1. Amnesia I agree with ScottScott. I too, learned the hard way. At 60 I was having a helluva night and going for a personal best. Reached down and tightened my laces. BIG mistake. Malleolus fracture with screws, plates and cable in my left ankle. 3 years hence and it's still stiff but I have gone on to ski better and set new PB's. I now use a Reflex white cuff on the front and RTP rear on my Senate Alloy. It has brought me to a new level of skiing but more importantly took away the fear of getting back on a ski after a pretty serious injury. I have taken plenty of spills and the release is predictable. The HO Hardshell looks very interesting and would be a serious consideration if I were changing bindings. Good luck, use soap and don't tug on those laces, especially the top ones.
  2. Malleolus fracture surgery LF Aug 2014 with hardware installed. Hardware removed Jul 2015. Pushed it a little too hard and caused an incision healing issue. Almost 28 months since the fateful evening sesh when I tightened my top boot cord too hard.
  3. Smokey56 I feel for you man. At 60 years old I tipped the 3 ball and stuffed it badly. Had just tightened my boot (Vector) "a little extra" for what I thought would may be my PB. Malleolus fracture and one very "screwed up left ankle". Surgery, wicked swelling, permanent discoloration. Ankle kind of looks like it should be on a horse, if you know what I mean. It's been a year and a half and the plate, cable and all screws are out except one that got buried in the tibia. I snow skied at 6 months and water skied at 9 months. I have switched to a Reflex with RTP binding set up. A couple of pros have mentioned it ias one of the safest set ups. I have "tested it" a number of times and feel good about the releases. I know what's going on in your head. It's tough to get back on the pain plank after such a significant injury but if you keep at the strength and flexibility workouts it will get better. Just takes longer for us at our age. Btw I still get a little swelling and stiffness at 18 months out. It is to be expected.
  4. Built this little rig with a skateboard mounted on a chair swivel. I have a handle with heavy shock cord tied off on my basement support post. I can pull side to side. Just gotta figure how to add angle to the board. It's not perfect but it does give you a pretty good workout.
  5. Just curious. Are any slalom ballers wearing helmets? I recall a few pics of Joel Howley with a Gath helmet on a while back.
  6. Razor I'm with you. North of six-O and hair starts growing in places that make you look like a ferel cat
  7. Check this out. Pull rope in the basement with a swivel mounted board
  8. Gonna be 61 this spring. Ran buoys last May for the first time in my life. Working my way up the speed ladder to 34@-15. Broke my fibula in August (stuffed the 3 ball). Bought an interest in a Malibu over the winter. Now working out hard and getting ready for Ski camp in NC in a month. STOKED!!!
