  1. OK, thanks! Would love to hear your thoughts on this ski compared to a Radar Senate once you have formed your opinions.
  2. Very cool. Love these unboxing videos. Few of us have the $ to try out every new thing, but this gives us the chance to experience the thrill of what is new and innovative through you which is awesome. The low effort - is it perhaps also due to length? Do you usually ski a 67" ski?
  3. Someone told me once that Ski Brendella's were old MasterCraft molds. That is, when MC was ready to move to a new hull/deck design Ski Brendella would buy the used molds and make boats with it. I also seem to recall that you could buy a Ski Brendella boat at Costco sometime in the early 90's.
  4. OK. Got it. Will be interesting to see how that does or does not work. I can see pros and cons of that approach.
  5. Just saw an ad on Ski-It-Again where someone selling a Nautique said this was your "last chance to get a promo boat." No idea if that is real or just rumor...
  6. Good advice from @Horton all around. You definitely need to upgrade, and a more modern and correctly-sized boot will be a huge improvement for you. I'd do as you suggest and stick to the rear toe plate as you get used to your new(er) ski. One thing that you did not mention - how fast do you ski?
  7. What I want to do is new or promo. But shat I can afford is older than that. Curious - what pricing should we assume for this discussion? New from big three - $75K, promo from big three 1-2 years old - $55K, big three 5-6 years old - $35K? Those numbers are what drove my vote.
  8. Darn 'bots. Every time I see another one of those emails it makes me sad because I know Water Ski is gone.
  9. So, if Water Ski is dead, why am I still getting emails from "Water Ski"?
  10. As a lurker on this thread since the beginning I finally have a question to pose to everyone. @Fehlindra noted that on snow skis there is one foot per ski, which drives boot and ski design. Slalom water skiing has both feet on a single ski, so are we dealing with issues more akin to snowboards? I know we stand facing forwards vs sideways, but the two-feet/one-ski analogy is there. And snowboards in general have very flexible bindings especially when compared to snow skis. I'm not nearly the level skier of many here, but what I like on a binding setup is for my foot to feel locked down, but not my leg. Ideally I'd like my feet to be bolted to the ski but my ankles allowed to flex so I can pressure the ski appropriately. I've been considering trying a hard shell this next summer to see how it feels. As others have said, I like to be "down" on the ski. HO bindings in the '90s lifted you up off the ski by a 1/2" or more and I hated how that felt. Get me down "into" the ski as much as possible. Personal preference I suppose.
  11. @adamhcaldwell said, "For those wondering, there is a very specific reason why only 3 out of the 5 holes are 'ported' or 'directional'." Mind blown. It feels like we may still be in the early stages of our understanding regarding fins and slalom skiing, even after all these years. I love this sport. The deeper you dive the more there is to see.
  12. Both CB and OB Ski Nautiques on display by the great folks at Pacific Nautiques at the Seattle Boat Show today. Only ski boats I saw, but the friendly folks the Nautique booth were willing to chat about ski boats for as long as I wanted. What a beautiful machine! Glad I went. Too bad nothing was there by any of the other brands for skiers.
  13. Favorite article for me had to be one published in the 1980s that talked about Seattle and the history/connection between the Pacific Northwest and water skiing. I had no idea I was living in the Mecca of ski design and manufacturing. I think the article said that at the time 80% of the water skis manufactured in the world came from Seattle. I later used that article to convince a Pacific NW History professor that my term paper should be on water ski manufacturing in the Northwest. He agreed and I got to go visit and talk to folks at O'Brien, Kidder, Jobe, Connelly, Wiley, etc... it was awesome.
  14. @skidawg His instagram is spencer_shultz79. Follow and enjoy!
  15. Wow. That means I received every copy of Water Ski ever published. My first issue was the one where they announced that Waterskier had purchased Spray and launched a new single magazine, Water Ski. This is sad, but today you can get so much more information on line. Back in the 80's and 90's Water Ski was I how tracked what was happening in the tournaments, who was up and coming and what was new with gear. Those boat tests in the 80's and 90's were simply epic. I'd keep those boat review issues and dream about what boat I'd buy. Good memories. I especially loved the anniversary issue a few years ago with the retrospective of the magazine across the decades. I remembered them all. Back when I was just learning to water ski, those monthly magazines cemented my love for the sport that continues today. Oh, and that issue of Wakesurf magazine I just got went directly into the recycle bin.
  16. I have to report that the GripGym bands are working well. The "hold it through a stop light" really works. I have one in my car and another at work. The elbow is definitely getting better.
  17. @Dacon62 That is just being mean! :D I can't wait to see what comes next. Good times, but the anticipation is killing us all!
  18. Is it just me or is the pole in the S&S too tall? I agree with skiing behind both. Having done a boat restoration myself I'd be hard pressed not to keep that Hydrodyne and ski. That thing is beautiful.
  19. Nice Christmas gifts! I started my training yesterday...
  20. Good wakeboard machine, but not a great slalom tug. Since you are asking on BoS we assume that you want to really ski hard. If you are looking for something to cruise around the lake with your family, the Super Sport would be a great machine. If you want to run the course or really work on your slalom skiing, I'd suggest you keep looking.
