  1. I had a 2000 sunsetter LXi, which is arguably the best ever family oriented tournament quality ski boat. We loved it!! My kids loved it!! They grew up and I wanted a higher quality pull. I upgraded to a 2012 Response TXi and it isn’t even close to the creature comfort of the sunsetter. My wife and kids go out with me on cruises, but everyone comments that it isn’t a great boat for anything other than skiing. There aren’t even any cupholders for the spotter…something my wife still comments about after 3 seasons. Malibu tried to recreate a family oriented ski boat with the LXR a few years back and nobody bought it. It’s more than marketing. The product needs to fit the experience @ScarletArrow describes. Right now, the DD’s do not.
  2. @Kimbymon you are right, I am now on a lake with a channel to long lake. There is a course beside the island. Does anyone live on long lake who is looking for another in the rotation? I have a ‘12 response txi with ZO
  3. @34mph are you on Long lake?
  4. I’m moved into TC now full time. On a small lake that connects to Long Lake. Any skiers there?
  5. I’m moving to the Traverse City area. There’s a course on Silver Lake and Crystal Lake. People have told me there is also one on Long Lake near Interlochen, but I haven’t verified that. PM me if you want a 3rd. I won’t have my Txi there until after Father’s Day.
  6. Got in a couple sets before things turned back to windy/rainy/cold.
  7. I’d probably be willing to pay a 10-20% premium, but I think prices are outrageous so it’ll be a looong time until there is a used one for me.
  8. It was snowing in my way to traverse city, mi this am. Crazy.
  9. I have the same issue. I have a very strong core, but my Chiro/ART says that it’s due to muscle imbalance. My suggestions: 1) I would definitely find someone who does ART as it’s waaay better than regular massage or chiro manipulation alone. https://activerelease.com/ 2) set up a ski rope & handle on dry land, then put RFF and pull like you do when skiing for 10 mins, 1 min pull/30 sec rest. This should help balance the muscles. 3) daily yoga, especially those flows that include a lot of twists.

  11. If anyone is wondering if the transition is happening. Take a look at Q1 sales volumes. Every automaker is flat to huge declines except for Tesla…hmmm… https://carsalesbase.com/us-car-sales-analysis-2022-q1/
  12. We ski public water and the drip helps with the wake not coming back into our return pass.
  13. Hi @Ronny61 we don’t plan to sell our home in Wisconsin, so I doubt I’ll be looking for lakefront in Colorado. Thanks for the info! I’ll be flying there for final interviews and to meet with a relocation specialist so your input is great! If we pull the trigger I will definitely contact you to join in the rotation.
  14. I am considering a move to Fort Collins, Co and see a lot of reservoirs. Are they skiable? Are there any private courses or clubs nearby?
  15. One one thing to consider. For sure you would need to replace at least the engine and transmission at 300-500k miles for an equivalent ICE car. Consider a BMW 3, the cost of engine is approximately $8-10k installed, and the transmission is $2-5k. It’s money equal.
  16. @thager i think the first thing to note is that the battery life should be between 300-500k miles. My model 3 has an 8 year, 160k warranty. Based on my mileage (pre-Covid), that would mean a Battery every 10-15 years. I doubt I’ll even own the car that long. Secondly, I am not sure where you get the $20k+, but the research and feedback from the Tesla forum has the cost in the $10-15k range. Also note that batteries can be remanufactured, which will drive the price down as time goes on and more old Tesla’s reach their end of life. At some point the battery replacement will be baked into the resale cost. Right now Tesla’s are averaging about 40% better resale value in comparison to their ICE counterparts, so this will probably even that out. My Tesla Model 3 has 43k miles. I’ve had no battery degradation to date, and the only “maintenance” Cost I’ve had is windshield wiper fluid. Here’s a test that was completed with a Model 3 at 100k miles. It’s a pretty boring video, but the punchline is that there is insignificant degradation. https://insideevs.com/reviews/573397/tesla-model-3-100k-battery-degradation-range-test/amp/
  17. @Jody_Seal i just checked both my Wisconsin and Michigan homes. Each are less than $0.11/kWh all in, including charges, etc. I installed a Tesla charger in each and didn’t have to upgrade either service. My cottage has 100a, so I was only able to put in 40a breaker. It still charges to full overnight, so who cares.
  18. @ral …there are always nay-sayers: Computers cost $1m, take up a whole room, and can only add, subtract, multiply and divide Cellphones don’t have enough battery or coverage to replace the land line Automobiles won’t replace trains due to lack of gas stations, roads, and crappy tires On and on…
  19. @golfguy that’s like saying that the ONLY reason I buy a house is to get the mortgage deduction. If companies don’t think the market will support it, and if they don’t think it’ll be profitable, then the incentives won’t even come close to covering their costs.
  20. @Golfguy do you think fossil fuels aren’t subsidized? The US spends approximately $20B/year subsidizing coal, natural gas, and crude oil. The EU spends about 55B Euro/year.
  21. @Jody_Seal cost comparison of ICE vs EV in latest pricing surge: https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2022/03/19/cost-of-charging-ev-vs-gas-prices.html Only 21.8% of US electricity is coal (and declining), which is only 170bps more than renewables (which is increasing) https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=427&t=3
  22. @BobF as long as you don’t have to go into reverse to launch…hey…wait a minute ?
  23. I guess I can’t stick to anything…each one is a rabbit trail that lasted several years, some are still pretty active. Waterski Alpine ski Margaritas Running Swimming Wine Triathlons Cycling old Jeep Resurrecting Malibu ski boat Back to waterski to learn competition form, though I only have done maybe 10 sets in a course in 3 years. Am currently into yoga…also-wine is making a resurgence.
