  1. @FracBurner - sounds like Elizabeth Montavon had to wait due to the prop coming off. Officials claiming she ripped the drive shaft out of the transmission. To me - that is one hell of an interesting statement. I have seen nothing but problems with Malibu boats in my time both working in the industry (for a Malibu dealer) and skiing/wakeboarding. Quality control has been absent since the company went public (but that is a discussion for another day).

Also - to be perfectly clear - this is all based on Elizabeth's side of the story at this point. I have not seen anything from Malibu yet. To me - should be an interesting topic as this is not a good image for Malibu this early in the event.

  2. First off - this is awesome! Great to see some video from a Dad looking to help build his son (my dad and I ski together all the time and use video almost everytime as we are pushing each other to ski as best we can all the time).

I am a huge fan of keeping it simple and only focusing on one thought at a time. The next thing I would say based on this is that he is pulling too long past the second wake. I heard @MarcusBrown give some killer advice in one of his awesome podcasts that he would run the course and shadow the bouys inside at his hardest passes to build form/confidence (some thing like that - please correct me if I am wrong @MarcusBrown ) - I would have him try this with the focus be getting the feeling of edge changing right after the second wake - it will make a HUGE difference from what I am seeing and, if he has the right attitude, will be something that can help going forward when the progression breaks through again.

(Bracing myself from backlash for those who dont agree)

  3. Ballers!!! Been a hot min for me on BOS - happy to be back! I have recently moved to Milwaukee WI and still ski my home site down in IL - but wondering if there are any avid skiers in the Milwaukee area that know of any courses around.
  4. I think with your weight and level the Senate is worth checking out. The CX might not hold edge as well with the conditions/level you are at. No need to go for anything above the standard Senate or CX in my opinion. Do you have any opportunity to demo? If so - it is worth it. As far as boots, I find HO makes a far more comfortable boot than Radar, however the Radar products seem to stand up better over time. It is a trade off from my experience.
  5. Rash guard helps (I too have this issue). However I switched vests to the new HO Syndicate vest and it is a different material than the standard neo. I have had zero issue with this problem since switching. Might be worth looking into - however it is a comp vest - so it does not have much flotation in it.
  6. Awesome stuff and all topics of great interest... Couldn't agree more - to those of us who know what is going on, super easy to be hooked. For people who are not 100% aware of the details - a bit hard to gain interest. I can't help but think of great venues for skiing (such as down town Milwaukee, WI where the Malibu Open was last year - yet people are not drawn in enough. Perhaps additional attractions... such as bands/big name food trucks/ other things to help get people in and asking questions...

Additionally, the club scene is what got me hooked. Having a dedicated group to ski with (publicly) is everything. I do not have access to a private lake, but I was shocked to hear that people ski their time slot and then go home.

Getting some clubs from around the country together (in person) would be a major benefit when it comes to trying to grow the sport (if nothing else, a great opportunity for more conversation around it). Thanks for doing this podcast @MarcusBrown and @Horton !!!

  7. I spoke with JT directly about this at the Chicago Boat Show a few weeks back. Confirmed - the only difference is the liner and paint color. The plates are identical and the shells are the same. JT uses an HO liner in his Edge boot for what it is worth... (I do not know if I am allowed to say that or not...)
