  1. @Horton No idea how many users but I’m guessing a fair few as it was pretty useful. It gave a really handy log of your current and previous fin /binding settings (in my case over 18 months and multiple tweaks) together with an area to write notes about that setting/how it felt etc. Also allowed you to log all your previous skis and settings, together with the factory settings for that ski. And latterly it even introduced a community-style sharing option to compare your settings with others. Pretty cool.

If anyone knows the developers contact details, I’d be grateful 👍

  2. Not that I’m a Fin Nerd 🤓 but I’m pretty disappointed to see that my Fin Database App (iOS) has been removed from the App Store and it now won’t open on my iPhone. I’ve consequently lost all of my current and past fin settings…😱😱

Anyone know where it (and my data) is??!

  3. Anyone have any experience or thoughts regarding lakes where Wakesurf boats operate directly before or after slalom sets and the resulting backwash or rollers.

I’m aware of the small amount of research that’s been done regarding bank erosion, e.g:

    https://cdalakepoa.com/uploads/3/6/4/3/36431208/technical_summary_finalpdf.pdf

However, our smallish lake (private members club) operates a G21 surf and Nautique 200 ski boat, with a 6 ball slalom course along one side. My perception is that the wash or rollers can last for some time and pose a potential safety issue, as well as messing up the slalom set.

    Thoughts?

  4. Agreed also. Kevin was great. Corey was particularly good, his comments were spot on. Video was good, I got 720p mostly but I’d have liked more in-boat footage but the camera on the pylon was a bit ‘to the left’ and regularly missed 2,4,6 balls. But hey a vast improvement on last year.

  5. Jeez it looks like he’s been messing around with left over crap he found in his garage. Maybe we’re the crazy ones and in 10 years this becomes the industry standard. I particularly like the spring on the back of the front boot to give rubber boot-like dampening..

  6. A good tip given to me by Andrew Bergman at Drews was not to snatch at the handle at the back of the ball, but to drive the outside hip through and let the ski tip come right under the line or further before connecting the outside arm back to the handle. In fact he said ‘imagine you are trying to ski almost back to the whitewash with only your inside hand on the handle before reconnecting’. Try it. It’s incredible how much speed you can carry around and through the turn using this tip and it really smooths out the finish of your onside. Obviously, you need the width coming into the ball and a tight line off the second wake to enable this, otherwise you’re going to ski straight at the ball and way down course pretty quickly. As AM always said, finish the turn AT the buoy, not after it’

And incidentally I’ve always found that moving the front binding back one hole helps the onside turn…

  7. Fantastic event, great energy, great performances but I can’t help wondering if all those people and dancers on the dock affected Freddie’s focus. Was a bit chaotic at the end there just before he skied - where was the special dock rope he talked about? 😆

  8. What on earth happened with Freddie? From the live streaming it looked like his original score of 3.5 in the final H2H was downgraded to 3 AFTER they both skied in the subsequent run-off…

But Iwwf site page still says he won with 3.5?

  9. I have the medium stretch (comp) rope from S lines after many years using the ML mainline pro, and I really like it. Firm enough to give a stable and consistent pull, but just enough give to make it feel really easy on the joints and allow good acceleration into the first wake. Much less bouncy than the ML optimised and an absolute bargain imo.

  10. Is there something hidden in the Masters event rules (or IWWF for that matter) which states that if you are DQ’d from a specific event you are automatically barred / unable to compete the following year?

If not it appears that the event organisers or officials (either the individuals involved in the incident last year or Nautique themselves) are just making a point to FW and the skiing world, which kinda stinks.

@whitem71, I ended up texting Taryns Mom yesterday,  she was waiting for an MRI to clear her for travel, but there doesnt appear to be anything serious.  This was BEFORE the MRI results.  Hopefully its all good for her.

Thanks brody. Missed the live coverage but knew something pretty bad had happened from the chat on the livestream indicating Jacinta has gone in to help Taryn who was KO’d. My thoughts are with her and fingers crossed for a good recovery 🤞

  12. Andy Mapple used to ski with both feet (rubber front, RTP rear) pretty much flat against the ski. Said he could feel the ski more and adjust / react quicker etc. I think he even took all the insole padding out of his front rubber boot. I appreciate that both feet should ideally be level ( to create a balanced stance) but raising them any further above the water surely has to reduce the skiers input to what the ski is doing.
