The lake that I ski at uses plastic chains to adjust the buoys. We put two carabiners on the plastic chain. One attaches to the sub buoy and one attaches to the buoy. We still have the rope/pvc system underneath the sub, but the plastic chain makes is quicker and easier to adjust buoys.

Funny seeing this. I just booked a flight from Florida to Table Rock the last weekend in September/first of October. Went last year around the same time and it was awesome! If you are going to be staying at Big Cedar, your best bet will probably be heading up to Little Cow Creek. Mile marker 13 (I believe). Course isn't going to be record capable, but you'll be turning some buoys. The course does lack 55 meter buoys. For me, I rely heavily on 55 meter buoys. What I did was use the boat guides at 1 ball as 55 meter buoys and ski the course using 3 ball as a 1 ball. That way you get to run some buoys and don't go crazy miss timing your pull out for the gates. It's great for working on your position in the pullout. Nice thing about Little Cow is that the cove right next to it (big cow creek on a lake map), is super long. You can get some nice free skiing passes in if the course is blown out. If you don't want to make the trip up there, maybe check out the cove near the 86 Bridge. We skied on a course over there a few times, but when we went to go check it out last year, buoys weren't there. Biggest thing is just to have a great time ripping around. Table Rock is a fun lake to ski on and when you are surrounded by the Ozark Mountains, it's hard not to just enjoy the ride. We've been making the trip to Table Rock since I was a kid. Learned to ride a slalom ski there. As far as courses go, I think Little Cow might be your best bet. There used to be a course down near the 86 bridge(close to big cedar), but when we cruised down there last fall, it wasn't in. When we skied it in the past, it was prone to rollers from boats passing by the cove. If anything, it's skiing buoys and working on your pullout for the gates. Just go out there and enjoy the time with your family. Table Rock is by far my favorite public lake and skiing in the Ozark Mountains is a real treat!

Besides not falling on my opener, does anyone have some good advice for getting the most out of Nationals?

Since you have a boat, eastern central (more southern) Florida is a great place to live. You have a short drive to Okeeheelee in West Palm and multiple spots on up to Stillwater Lakes in Palm Bay. The skiing out here is fantastic! And it doesn't get "cold" like Orlando does in the winter. Miami is a cool spot too. Just get on google earth and check them out.

Saturday was spent skiing in Port Saint Lucie and Sunday was spent at Okeeheelee where I shot this video! Both awesome sites with great people!

@Wish I would have to agree that things are looking up. As a world and as a sport, I don't think we have ever been so virtually connected to one another and news travels faster now than it did 10 years ago. Maybe I'm just being an optimist here, but the 2017 Swiss Pro Finals video on YouTube has over 8,000 views. That's a good amount of traffic for a single day event that wasn't advertised on prime time television. Anytime you can provide numbers to your potential sponsors, its a good thing. It helps them get over the "you want how much money to sponsor a waterski tournament?!?!?!" response. It's the same way with advertisement rates for tv ads or here on BOS. As a sport, I do believe that we are moving forward. We've been in the stone age for so long (M1, M2, W1, W2 skiers don't need a regional guide, they need info on where they can practice and who they can get pulls with), but I think we are finally starting to actually connect on a social level in the sport and that is a great thing.

Maybe the selection committee could scrap wakeskating all together and add a healthy CP to the mix. That would be a fair trade off!

Hey Ballers, my soon to be wife and I are going to be moving to the Fort Pierce/Jensen Beach area. I've already looked into skiing at Okeeheelee Park and Stillwater Lakes, but I'm wondering if their might be someone a little bit closer to where we are going to be living that I could ski with. Thanks!

@ScottScott It is! So many lakes! This one just looks really cool. I didn't see a dock when I drove past, so I'd just like to know the story of it. If it's a public site, it would really be a fun place to ski. The course is a little bit closer Corporate Blvd than what I marked on on the map, so it would really be a great place to ski in the winter, when the wind is blowing out of the north.

Does anyone have info on this lake in Orlando? Google Earth is calling it Lake Ruth. I was driving past it today and noticed buoys on it, so naturally I had to stop and take a look at it. Looks like an 8 buoy course that's literally 5 minutes from the University of Central Florida campus.

This is just unbelievable. How do you expect the judges to be able to look at the boat path when you've got geese in the way!

@aupatking My first ski was a KD 4000, my Dad rode a KD 7000 at the time. Being able to ride a ski that looked just like his was pretty dang cool. Buy the ski, your daughter will love it.
