  1. So I've narrowed my search down to the 2016 & 2017 Lithium Vapor and the 2017 D3 ARC-s. Since I'm looking to buy used, ski-it-again, I can't demo so please let me know what you like, dislike and about the tendancies between the skis. Also, can you mount Radar bindings on the D3. I ask about the bindings because the Radar's are the only ones I've found a decent deal on.

    Thanks

  2. So my twins are in their 3rd year of college and my youngest just isn't into wakeboarding that much. Which means that I've spent much more time on my slalom this year free skiing.

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to a coworker about slalom and he told me that he had found a course on Smith Lake and would be glad to take me (he keeps his boat there), so we planned a trip for last Friday afternoon. Several years ago I wanted to slalom but had gained a bunch of weight, so I bought a 70" HO Phantom. Not a bad ski but d@mn it's big. I'm now around 205 but still riding the Phantom. I'm 54 and haven't been in a course for over 30 years but Thursday night I was like a kid the night before Christmas. Friday rolls around and by the time we made it to the lake I felt like I was on a 72 hour sugar rush. I was nervous and excited all at the same time.

First pass -15 @30, I ignored the gates and used the trainer buoys to get my timing down. Next pass, all 6 at -15 @30. 3rd pass, sped up to 32 and made all six. 4th pass only made 4, I thought I was still at 32 but the driver informed me he had sped up to 34. After resting for a couple of minutes I went back in at -22 @32. Skiing behind a 90's era Supra and the bump gave me a big surprise and only made 2. 6th and final pass was a full pass at -22 @32. Needless to say I was super pumped to make a full pass after not being in the course for over 30 years!

We've already talked about going again and I can't wait!

  3. Hello Ballers, I have the itch for a new to me ski and would like some suggestions. I'm 54 6'2", 205 and am currently on a 70" HO Phantom. 30 years ago I got into 32 off regularly but don't currently have access to a course (working on that). So right now I guess you would call me an aggressive open water skier; I do really want to get back in the course though.

So, all of that being said I would appreciate some suggestions for a 16 or 17 model ski. Even though my wife says to buy whatever I want, I just can't justify the price of a 2018 top of the line ski given my current situation. I ski 3 to 4 times a week now on Lake Tuscaloosa if there are any other Ballers in the area.

Oh, and binding suggestions also, double boots.

    Thanks

  4. Let's start with, that was a pretty good looking run. I would say that the Senate is a pretty good ski for where you are right now and capable of shorter line lengths. That said, at 175 a 69 seems rather large. I would look into the graphite Senate in a 67. At 175 your fall well within the 160 - 200 lb range recommended by Radar.

  5. Crap, I missed it. I'm in T'town and didn't hear about it. Personally I would love to see LLUSA promote the events being held there; on here, on FB... That being said, it's an awesome site, if you've never been there try to make it for one of the events.

  6. I hate to threadjack but I have the same type of question. About 6 years ago I was around 230 lbs. and bought a 70" HO Phantom. I've hated that ski since day 1, can't get it to turn at all. Years ago, I was a 32 off skier, 35 on a really good day and really want to get back out there. I'm 6'2" 205, 34mph and would welcome your suggestions. I would like to stay under $700 if possible. Thanks
