Good thing that’s not a common occurrence
-
I had a boat shipped from southern Cali to Minnesota thru uShip. Paid a guy to go look at it for me and even water test it. All transactions were thru the bank. Everything worked out and I knew what I was going to get. 11 years later and about 500 hours and that boat is still going strong.

If you are skiing a course and not at 75’ you’re a shortline skier.
-
He’s most likely picking up a new one for the week.

Another question, are the measurments on tournament courses true to actual course demensions or are they minus the 4 1/2” for the ball to be as close to the center of the course as possible but still within the allowable tolerances?
-
Is that upside down?

I have a 97 Malibu VLX ( not diamond hull ) and it skis good only at 15 off 34-36 mph. Any shorter and it has a huge bump to hit

We all know what it will be used for the most... The Silver Surfer

I got my plate from skidim.com When mine broke all other hardware was intact. Only the weld at the collar broke and it slide down the tranny shaft 1/4” and didn’t make any odd noises.
-
Also a ‘97.

Happened to me. Collar on the dampener plate broke. So where the tranny shaft slides into the plate on the motor fly wheel. Had to pull the tranny off and the v drive to replace it. It was on a Malibu VLX.

How far would you say you should be outside the buoy line on the pull out?

Zero off isn't what I have to have, just asking if it was compatible with the older boat. I would love to get an '08 or newer but those are out of my budget. Just looking to upgrade to a newer boat
-
@vtjc thanks for posting that link about prostar history. I remember reading that once but forgot about it
-
That would be great to have more space and the rear locker. Is the 190 and 197 hull the exact same from the the same years. 2003-2009 I think?
-
Thinking about upgrading to a newer boat. Either a newer 190 or 197. What are the biggest differences I would notice between the older '96 and the a newer prostar. With the MCX engine is perfect pass a plug and play option and is zero off a possibility? And the obvious question is how do the wakes stack up against each other.
I would describe the '96's wake as a slight trough with a soft bump. Skiing 28' and 32' off at 34mph.

Wouldn't that make it more responsive but also more touchy. Also not as minor of adjustment while steering.

I don't have any suggestions for ski or binding but get off that '15 v-type. I skied that ski for a year and most consider it a dud. Very touchy ski and your weight ratio has to be in the sweet spot for that ski to work. Not forgiving at all.

Awesome, that is such a great feeling. I still get a little nervous when I ski a course other than my own but as soon as you get through the gates it all goes away.

Is the boat listing at rest or when driving. I had an older Nautique that was horrible when driving around if not weighted with counter balance. If you put the boat in the water with the dog house and floor removed you can find leaks fairly easy. Sometimes leaks don't happen until the engine is running or even the boat is driving. I would take a close look at the fiberglass mufflers also. After getting old they start to leak while the engine is running. And as stated check shaft packing.

46f in Florida?

I do a 5/4 wet suit as soon as ice goes out and wouldn't do anything else. If you get a good wet suit you don't even get wet. Just make sure you don't get one to tight or it will stretch at them seams and water will leak in. The last wet suit I had lasted over 10 years before it started letting in water at the seams but I would still have my boxers mostly dry after my ski sets.
This is why i love the internet
