  1. I had to run over to Starkville, MS yesterday to drop a bike off for my daughter at MSU. As I was driving home, east across HWY 82, I noticed a slalom lake in Columbus MS. It's adjacent to, but not connected to the Tennessee Tombigbee waterway. Anyone know anything about this place? Just to satisfy my curiosity?
  2. couldn't resist. I just pulled the trigger. I'll have to work from home the day it gets delivered. Once I get it into the garage, it'll just blend in with my other stuff. The DW will be none the wiser.
  3. that's not a tower...that's a roll bar off of a 1986 CJ-7. :)
  4. @igkya good eye, you are correct. The rope is on a cut down fly hi that is approx 16 inches or so higher than the standard height pylon. We just grabbed a few quick pulls at the end of the day instead of switching things out. The angle can mess with you a little bit though.
  5. Hi Mike, I think I might have sent you a facebook friend request. I was skiing a set with my cousin last fall on Lake Martin when I met and learned that we were skiing in Don Kelly's course. I'm sure you know him. My boat is in the dry stack at River North and Doug Hamrick is the manager there, but I've never had the chance to ski with those guys. I'm old (46) and haven't ever had much access to a course, so I'm not a guy who can get through it yet, but I like to try. I really need to ski a lot more, but life just gets in the way, kids with activities like band and baseball. I'll keep hacking away at it though. When I go to the lake with my family, I hardly ever ski...the water is choppy, and I'm pretty much driving the whole time. If/when I could get out with some skiers it would be a different story though. Like I said, have ski and vest, will meet up for ski opportunities. I've seen the course on the very southern end of Logan Martin. That's not far from my house...we live in the Meadowbrook/Inverness area of town off of 280. And I have a friend (former coworker) who's a skier with a house on Logan Martin, but we haven't met up yet. Do you know Igor? I met him too...he lives in my neighborhood but we haven't had a chance to meet up and go ski since the first time I met him. He looks like a good skier..maybe with a bit of reach advantage due to his 7 foot height. So far everyone I've met in the ski community here has been super nice and welcoming. That's why I guess I wouldn't be afraid to meet up with some strangers to go skiing.
  6. LL = Lyman Land, right? I just figured that out. I haven't been there...just seen pics. When I was in college in T-town that place didn't exist. I did spend time on Lake Tuscaloosa...very nice.
  7. @"76S&S" even though my boat is at the marina on Lake Martin (1hr 10 min drive) my ski and jacket are in my garage. I'm available...and I can drive. Also, I have access to a course where I am. Maybe a Friday evening set?
  8. I'm bumping this post...Did a quick search just to see if there was any Alabama talk of any sort on this board. @spartanskier10 How do you like Alabama? I graduated HS in Michigan, many years ago...and left to go to school in Tuscaloosa. Nearly 25 years later, I'm still here. Live in the Bham area, and boat/ski on Lake Martin.
  9. @BraceMaker - we started too. It was taking a lot of time, and it was difficult in close quarters. Plus the boat was sitting right under an engine lift...so it was just easier.
  10. Contingency plan: IF you can't get that nut off, and if you have access to an engine lift, you can take the four engine mount nuts off without messing with the adjusters, and lift the engine straight up until you have enough clearance to pull the shaft out from the engine side with the mounting flange still on it. I broke my prop shaft two seasons ago and this is what we had to do to get it out. You're going to have to re-align the new shaft anyway so there's no real negative to lifting the engine and then sitting it right back down. Good luck.
