  1. I'm not sure 3m accuracy is actually true. It might be significantly better. GPS accuracy is predicated on calculating the x,y, and z axis. If the algorithm that ZeroOff uses keeps the altitude constant, I would think the accuracy would go significantly up. Just thinking back to my GPS fundamentals class I took about 15 years ago.
  2. Has anybody built a website that allows various people to compete against each other from various sites using this type of handicapping system? I am envisioning a site that would allow virtual tournaments and even weekly league "play". If not, I will try do something over the winter and get a beta version out in the spring for the 2019 season.
  3. OK, last question. Has anybody used this chart based simply on max speed and line length and not factoring age groups? It would to take into account the person that decided for whatever reason they wanted to ski at a max speed of 32.3 but are at 28 off even though their age group wouldn't allow that per AWSA rules. What about a buoy count for the mini course?
  4. Thank you.....and I apologize for being slow. In the example from USAwaterski, "You slalomed in 2 Class C tournaments with scores of 50 & 46 buoys." how are the buoys counted and how does that account for shortening the rope?
  5. Can anybody run me through the math on how the USA waterski average is calculated?
  6. Has anybody designed a handicapping system for waterskiing? Golf has a fairly straight forward system that can be used easily by all golfers to make competition easier. Tennis breaks things out by skill level, which is better than what we have, but doesn't really help the problem of matching players of different skill levels. I would be interested to see what people have thought of to make the sport more competitive at the grass roots level. I think the idea of friendly competition brings out the best in people, but it has to be a system that that can work not just at tournaments but for the average skier on sites all around the world.
  7. 65.3. Ran the first set with a heater top. Dry suit for the second.
  8. @HighAltitude looks like USPS is just being slow. PM me Monday if you still don't have it. PM sent.
  9. Adam, I'm number 233 and haven't received mine yet. Any idea what's going on? -Marc
  10. #233 nothing in the mail as of yesterday. Hoping maybe today.
  11. I have a Syndicate Omni and I find it very smooth and stable. From the very first ride it reminded me of my '12 Radar Theory but with a much better ability to generate angle and hold it. Before I bought it I had ridden a '12 Senate C and a '17 Vapor. Both felt a bit squirlly crossing the wakes.
  12. Damn..I didn't get one this week so I must be a BOS complainer. :# The upside is it gave me some more time to dial in my Omni. Just added the wing on this weekend and had some incredibly early passes. Hopefully will try to ski a new PB in the next week or two before the skiing really slows down.
  13. Unfortunately, numerous companies with a great product have failed because they ignored the "business" side of their business. Totally understand if this is just a hobby, but if Denali wants to actually grow as a business they have to communicate with customers and then deliver on their communications.
  14. I have not received mine either. Hoping to get it soon.
  15. If you think a 216 has a great wake, I think you might be very happy with a 200V. This forum is so heavily slanted towards direct drives I'm not sure you will hear any positives about the 200V. It's a great all around boat, but you have to accept it's limitations. Obviously, if you need really nice slow speed slalom wakes, you are not going to be happy. If you ski 34 mph, 28 off you will have a great slalom machine that you can surf on when you load up the friends.
  16. So I finally got my '18 65" Syndicate Omni. Bought it used for $725 -delivered. The ski is absolutely beautiful and is basically new. I have been looking at replacing my '12 67" Radar Theory. I'm 145 lbs and usually ski at 32 MPH. (PB 22 off 34 MPH or 15 off 34 MPH). I wanted a new ski as I'm trying to work on 34 MPH and the Theory was advertised as a 28-32 MPH ski. I previously tried a '17 Vapor and an older '13? Senate C as possible replacements. Here are my observations/opinions. 1. The ski is very similar in size to the Senate C. The width is about the same but the front has that distinctive HO girth to it in the front. The ski has a lot of front rocker to it compared to the Senate and and Theory. I didn't have the '17 Vapor but I'm positive that it had a lot more rocker than that ski. (more on that later). It seems like maybe they added some more to the 18's. 2. The hole pattern is standard HO but it still pisses me off they don't keep the ski backwards compatible for ALL previous HO bindings. I have EXO bindings and had to drill the ski and put screw inserts in. This is NOT for the faint of heart. It turned out perfect and looks exactly like the other holes on the ski, but it takes some serious time and patience. (I skied the first set with a modified adapter plate just to make sure I was going to keep the ski before I drilled). 3. First set - Got the ski out for it's first ride with stock settings. I ran 32.3 MPH/15 off (which I can hit 90+% of the time). First thing I noticed was how stable it was on my first wake crossing. The Senate and the Vapor both seemed to be "loose" which is not a feeling I am used to. Not saying it's bad but it's different from my Theory. The Theory is extremely stable crossing the wake. I love the fact that the Omni is very stable as well. Immediately this gave me confidence to start running the course. I shadowed the buoys going down and decided to try run a pass on the way back. Again the ski felt very stable, but I had some problems with the turns. I was a little far forward on some turns and wheelied a few others. I made 2 of the 5 passes but it was messy. Although my turns were erratic, it was easy to get and maintain angle. 4. Second set - I decided to move my bindings forward an 1/8 of an inch and move the fin back as far as it would go. I figured I was coming from a 67 so these settings would more closely resemble what I had been successful with. Bingo! The ski really performed. Got all 6 passes at 32.3/15 off. Felt a lot like my Theory but it is definitely easier to get and hold the angle coming off the ball. You can tell it can make some very sharp turns but that's not how I like to ski. With the fin back it made nice wide arcing turns that allowed me plenty of time to get in the best position for the pull. It seems that the rocker makes this ski more reactive to weight movement then some other ski's. If you really get the weight on the front of the ski, that huge nose engages and the ski really slows. I noticed this first when I pulled out before the gates. When I got the handle low and my weight on the front, I lost a lot more speed than usual and the ski wanted to turn in before I was ready. After that set I had to put the boat back on the lift and tuck it in for a little bit as we headed out for a non skiing summer vacation. I'll update the forum after I get a few more sets in. I also have a Denali fin coming so I'll update the OP when I try that baby out. I'm nursing a few injuries from my other warm weather passions (running, golf, tennis and surfing) so I hope I can come back off of vacation healed and ready to set some new PBs in skiing!
  17. Ordered my fin on the 12th. Anybody from Denali have an update on when I might see it? Not really in a rush as I'm dialing in a new ski...just curious.
  18. I cant wait to have an electric powered boat on our lake that's at 7000 ft altitude. Finally, no need to prop down!
  19. Hard to just walk in and get a set during summer. You really need to look at the open times and make a reservation. Google "little soda lake ski school" and use the "book now" option from the main page. I haven't been their in awhile but I can't imagine it has changed. Hope my old '99 Nautique is still giving great pulls since they bought it a few years ago.
  20. If he got a matching surf boat...Moby Dick or the White Whale.
  21. 72 on our lake yesterday. Air was reading 91 but I don't think that was right. Mid 80's is what the weatherman called for. The lake is at 7000 ft. Incredible day on the water!
  22. The problem is... a post like this casts a "caveat" on somebody's performance. I'm not a great skier by any means, but I hate to see this in any sport. Having taught probability and statistics in college, I can say without a doubt that this sport would tend to cluster it's PBs. The site, boat, driver, equipment and conditions are a factor in this sport. A 2019 SN could account for everything or...it could count for nothing.
