  1. This concept has been on my mind since moving from a Senate to a Vapor and skiing less then 36mph, in my case 32mph. The Senate has stock binding placement 1/2" more forward then the Vapor. In your case at 34mph you are having success at 1/4" forward, would a 32mph skier have success at 1/2" forward? Does the ski designed to run at 36mph need more levelling at lesser speeds?

Unfortunately a shoulder injury is playing more havoc on my skiing then ski set up, and therefore I'm not consistent in my testing to determine the outcome. I can find the ski different in binding placement setups, then have completely different results the next pass on the same settings.

  3. I made a serial cable to hook up the puck Tom’s computer and checked and upgraded software. Manual, including wiring schematic and software is on the Garmin site. Since you got it directly from PP, after the update, I think it would be assumed that latest puck software was flashed.

I never really had issues with locking with wake S but 9.2 was definitely an improvement with accuracy and faster lock on

  4. There was a GPS puck update that addressed a rollover issue. If the puck had the old software then locking on is an issue. It could be leading to your surging and engagement issues. Ours was a mess with the old software.

  5. @slmskrs Interesting information on the mapping experiment.

@alex38 I'd have to agree with @skiboyny to raise Ball 1. I'll also add that warmer water temps could require update to AUTOCAL or raising KX, especially with carb'd motors

  6. @alex38 what do the other times look like? A slow 2 ball could indicate fast gate/ball 1 times as well. Does the driver observe any particular boat behavior such Over/Under speed, or hearing the boat apply or reduce throttle?
  7. Are you seeing particular fin/binding adjustments to Vapors (or other high end skis) that work better for the slower speeds (in particular 32 mph)?

Coming off a series of Senates to a Vapor, I'm struggling with turning the ski. Bus like offside turns and "break at the waist" onside turns. Didn't have these issues with the Senate, running stock or Rini's numbers on it. On Vapor, stock long/shallow settings.

Does 32mph benefit from setting up short/deep or some variation?

Aspiring 22-28 off skier, been into 32 on a good day.

  8. Not specific to this project, but along the same lines...I wonder if you can further enhance this or any other hull with creating your own "wake tuners" or changing the shape of your plate, to help fill in the trough like the newer Nautiques. It got me thinking, on my SN196 that was originally equipped with 2 Pitot tubes for the speedo, that were folded up out of the way when Stargazer was installed, did the spray created from them change any of the wake patterns? The wake tuners on the SN's are not very intrusive.

    Just thinking out loud..

  9. I've owned 3 Senates, still have 2. Alloy was most forgiving, Graphite was most well rounded, Lithium was fast and least forgiving. Skiing is a mix of open water, and large public lake ski course. I ski the large public lake course 90% of the time, open water 10%. Lithium is awesome if conditions allow. If it gets windy or boat traffic the ski is too busy and my skiing suffers significantly. The graphite was by far the most well rounded, with a great balance of forgiveness and performance. The alloy was very forgiving. It was slow to react compared the graphite or lithium, but not in a bad way. I'm a 32mph 22-28'off skier.

FWIW I kept the Lithium and my wife skis the Graphite. Sold the Alloy.

  10. What version of stargazer? If its just the wake/wake S version, there is no way to adjust for weight. If you have 3 event, you can adjust for Feather/Light/Normal/XL weight ranges. You can get three event without zbox and have these settings.

I didn't spend much time with Wake S version, I quickly updated to 3 Event.

A quick refresh of the Wake and Wake S versions, I think the only adjustment in WAKE/WAKE S is the pull(KDW) setting, you can try to increase it. In Wake, there is mention of adding 150rpm to baselines to help with skier pull. You could try increasing that.
