@fu_man from what I have been told, by 2 boat mechanics that I trust, by itself a fake-a-lake doesn't mess up an impeller but using it can cause not enough water being forced up intake and/or allowing air pockets into the impeller and these can cause problems to the impeller.
This might be difficult to get a clear answer to, but I thought I would post and see your thoughts. Last weekend when using my boat, its a Calabria Cal-Air Direct Drive, with Merc 350 Tow Sports. When hitting the throttle to start skiing the boat would accelerate as normal but then seemed like it slipped or missed for a moment and then accelerate as normal again. If I hit the throttle a little lighter it would not do this. Any thoughts?
OK, forgot to mention when I pulled the boat out I found a plastic bag stuck to the in the cover for the raw water pump, but not completely covering it, have no idea how long it was there, could that have caused the temp and smoke issue?
This weekend I got out on the boat for the first time in 3 months. My boat always runs at 160 degrees usually and doesnt put out much smoke in the exhaust. Boat fired right up but about 20-30 minutes in noticed the temp was up to about 170/175, but water was coming out and the exhaust seemed to have more smoke than normal and smelled a little differently. I watched for a bit to make sure temp didnt go up and that water was still cycling through, and eventually temp went back to 160 and exhaust seemed more normal. My question is could old or bad gas cause this smoke and temp increase?
Thanks!
Curious if anyone here has ever installed a new rub rail on their boat. I need to replace mine, not just the insert, but the whole thing. Seems like a big job, but my shop gave me a rough estimate, which was rough for me to hear!

Just ordered a 69" Senate Alloy with Vector/HRT binding from Wakehouse.com. So excited to get on the ski, and wakehouse has some great prices. Might check it out.
