  1. Hopefully that will be covered in the next video. When is that predicted to be posted?
  2. I came across a site called wheretospray.com. I don't know how update to date it is or anything, but might provide you with some ideas.
  3. I think a blind test is in order. Have a competent individual set your ski up that you trust. He gets to pick one of the two settings. Ski your set. Write down where the fin setting is. Then verify the setting to see if you could truly tell. How long until skiers are tightening their BOAs with torque wrenches and lacing up with tension gauges ?
  4. I'm just a free skier and only have the skills to be a set it and forget it type of person. Also never skied a course so feel free to tell me to see myself out... But given these tolerances listed it truly makes me question certain things. What's being used to measure these adjustments? If you are truly saying .004" is going to make or break your set then I would assume you are using a depth micrometer, or some sort of precision height gauge vs a typical 6" caliper. Please tell you are not using your caliper as a height gauge to set a fin at .004" . Standard practice in manufacturing is to require a finer measuring tool than a caliper on tolerances finer than +/-.005". How often are these setups being checked. Are tournament skiers checking their setups before every set? What if their ski falls over on the dock, etc? Only other sport that I can think of that would require such tolerances in equipment setup would be precision shooting. More or less trying to educate myself as I didn't realize slalom had gotten to this lever of fin setup that two hairs is what it takes(I have thin hair, thank my mom).
  5. Not a fan of carpet myself but I can drool over a teak platform all day .
  6. I don't replace my impeller every year as I put a very low number of hours on my boat unfortunately. I do however pull the impeller every winter and place in a zip lock bag and put it in my glove box. This gives me a chance to inspect my impeller and doesnt sit over the winter with the fins stressed in the housing.
  7. Right? I have a 95 GT40 and can't help but stare at that ole girl everytime I start it up !
  8. That's awesome! Do you have a guess at about what they weigh in that picture? My little guy is 2 months old and 10.5 lbs. I tried just that in the car seat and his vest was pushing up into his face pretty bad. I think he just needs a few more weeks to get a little bigger.
  9. If you want to talk about overdoing it on the seadek let's change the discussion to the ski nautique. I'm a huge nautique fan but the latest gen ski nautique has just way to much going on. This new prostar is a beautifully simple(in today's era) boat. Imo the areas where they did use seadek are simply wear points that are using it as protection. They focused on the details and didn't over do it with frills and edgy lines. The cockpit is unbelievably sleek looking. Even tho touch screens scare me 20 years down the line.
  10. So glad MC sticks with a teak platform. It looks however that the red and white boat posted has a fiberglass platform. IS this now an option, has it always been one?
  11. I would do a very serious test drive of that boat. Even if he had it in climate controlled storage mechanical equipment just is not designed to sit not in use for those periods of time.
  12. Sounds like most are on private lakes. Anyone on a public lake? I have come across a patrol once in the 10 years my family has been on this lake but the better half shut it right down at the legality stand point.
  13. For a bit more info we are on a small 990 acre lake. If we ski after dinner time the lake is essentially a ghost town. If the car seat is strapped to the observer seat and my boy strapped into the car seat I honestly agree and dont see what good a PFD would be at that point. Like what has been mentioned I think flotation on the car seat would be more important at that point. In the event something drastic happened the quick release could be pulled to seperate the seat from the base and the seat could float. Thanks for all the feedback!
  14. @Horton I assume Reagan was in the car seat with a PFD on? My little guy is only 11 lbs right now. I have a <30LB PFD for him. It is a bit big but I feel safe with him in it. I just dont think him wearing it while being in a car seat will be comfortable for him. Im going to try it out up at the camper and see if he goes for it but I may just need to wait until he is a bit bigger.
  15. Thank you for that link. I will need to work on my search abilities in the future. I will have to revisit how the little one fits in the car seat with his vest on. That seems to be the common scenario out of that discussion.
  16. Looking for a bit of advice with having a new born. Has anyone found a way to ski in the boat with a baby on board? I have an 8 week old son. My wife and I have had him in the boat several times with great success but have not tried to do any sort of watersports in the process. When we first found out she was expecting we knew we would obviously be extremely limited in our normal activities like mountain biking and snow boarding but were excited to still utilize our boat as a family. Now with all of the Covid happenings we are hesitant on letting anyone else in the boat with us let alone hold our son while my wife and I ski and drive. Our son has a baby bjorn that he loves to be in but thats a no go with the life jacket. We also thought about strapping the car seat into the boat but thats also a no go with the extra size of the life jacket. We cant seem to overcome any situation as the life jacket is not comfortable for him unless we are holding him in our arms. I hope this doesnt turn into a discussion of safety as my wife and I will be the assessors of that for our own child. I am simply trying to see if any other ski couples had found a way to make this work for them. My wife and I are extremely protective of our son and would not put him in a situation that we found to be overly risky. I know thousands of you have had new borns in your boat and would simply like advice for those situations.
  17. Sorry I don't have the measurements you want. I do however know my Bimini is 5'8" from the floor.
  18. @Cnewbert That is very interesting indeed. I swore I read once over on the Nautique forums that the SN took up something like 1 out of 10 production slots. But I could easily be misremembering or the guy was blowing smoke. That is whats swaying me to assume the 3 event boats are such a minor slot in the market.
  19. @skimtb Most assembly lines I have seen have a fixed manufacturing overhead associated with each slot on their assembly line that is budgeted out for the year. If that slots filled with a loaded x star they are going to make a hole lot more money than if a PS comes down the line. I would have to imagine Mastercraft would have no problem filling every reserved PS slot with a high dollar boat if they had to. At some point passion for 3 event has to work into the budget I would think.
  20. @Lieutenant Dan Forgive my ignorance but I was under the assumption that the placard was simply guidelines, and not enforceable? In MN here I thought as long as all occupants were within the gunnels of the boat you were GTG. Maybe im getting mixed up and it was the weight capacity that was not enforceable.
  21. Seems the topics of ski boats always resorts back to its capabilities. Its a 3 event tournament work horse. It's not designed to be a family weekend warrior where the kiddos invite all their buddies. Yes it can be used for that but that completely correlates to your tolerance for what the boat can and can not do. One driver may not give a shit if his family gets soaked from chop. It may be a deal breaker to the next guy. With that being said, is anyone honestly fearful for the day that the big three just quit making a dedicated 3 event boat all together? I know its the root of watersports but the market for these boats is quite a niche now it seems. Especially when you have a 6 figure price tag pricing the average family into a crossover to get more bang for the buck when it comes to the kiddos. I see it in quite a few different areas of extreme sports. I use to race quads. Back when I did i had 7 manufacturers that were making 450 sport quads that I could choose from. Today, Yamaha is the only one left.
  22. @MarcusBrown I would love to see more POV content. Day in the life of a skier sort of content. Training, travel, etc. Routines leading up to, during, and traveling home from events would be great to. Put me in the skiers shoes and let me live their life through their eyes. There are a handful of pro mountain bike athletes that never seem to turn a GoPro off. Would be great to see that sort of content with ski athletes
  23. Came across Flowpoint. What a binge that was.
  24. One of my other hobbies is mountain biking. There are a ton of great YouTube channels from mountain bikers to watch. Are there any slalom ski related YouTube channels that everyone likes to watch? Looking for pros, amateurs, how tos, etc.
  25. Does anyone have detailed pics of the Barefoot Nautique that N3 boat works built ?
