  1. My wife has been skiing open water for over 35 years. A few years back we moved to a waterski community and she recently decided that she would like to try the mini-course. She is not an aggressive skier and I’m having trouble getting her to lean and pull through the wakes. She is skiing on a 35-year-old Kidder Supreme. I’m thinking that if she wants to do more than open water playing, I need to get her a new ski. I’m thinking a Radar Lyric, but looking for other suggestions. Thoughts?
  2. Find a neighbor that will let you put a lift in at their place in exchange for occasionally using your boat. Or better yet, go partners with them on the boat.
  3. I'm considering moving to MOB myself. It is a bit expensive, but probably much cheaper than even one trip to the OR.
  4. It's hard to compare skiers from different eras because the technology changes. Carl Roberge was pretty awesome back in the day - a world record holder in slalom and a very good 3 event skier. For today's era, its hard to argue with Nate or Regina - especially if you focus on slalom. I've had the pleasure of meeting Nate once and I'm a big fan for 3 reasons. 1) He is an awesome skier 2) Every time I see him (pictures, video, etc.) he is smiling. He just looks like he enjoys the sport. 3) He gives back to the sport. From what I understand he showed up several days early for Nationals last year and helped by driving and judging. He seems to be a class guy and symbolic of what is right in the waterski world.
  5. @MS, maybe I don't know better, but having just upgraded from a 2003 Response to a 2017 Nautique with Zero Off, I think Zero Off is wonderful. It is super easy to drive and the letters and numbers let people tweak the response to fit their personal preferences. I have trouble saying that any company that invests into our sport and makes it better/easier "sucks".
  6. I'm fighting the same issue. Here are the things I've found and am trying. 1) Using an elbow wrap from CVS pharmacy 2) Just ordered a curved anti-roll handle with a larger diameter (currently at 1.00 moving to 1.060. 3) Reverse Tyler twists with Theraband (blue) to stretch tendons. 4) Ibuprofin Given, I have not received the handle yet, but of the others I believe the Theraband is helping the most.
  7. I emailed Wake Eye. Here is their response: Hi Jim Yes you are correct. We released an update for the iPhone X to work properly and it is having problems with earlier version phones. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working hard to rectify these problems. Will have an update to fix them asap. John Wakeye
  8. I tried it on my wife's iphone 5s and got the same issues.
  9. So Wake-eye put out a new update to their app a few days ago. I just bought the app (after the update) and I can only get it to record on 60 fps and I can't transfer the videos to my phone's library. If I switch the fps to 120 or 240 and push the button to start, the app crashes. If I record I set it to 60 fps, it works and records the video. When I review the video and tell it to "save" it, the app crashes. Wondering if others are having this problem and if anyone knows a fix.
  10. The upgrade direct from perfect pass is $1099. I wouldn't pay more than that. http://perfectpass.com/?q=upgradeoptions
  11. So I took the seat apart a couple of days ago. It appears that I can lower the seat about 1" by changing the way it is mounted (removing the mounting bracket and mounting the seat directly to the slide mechanisms). This is a simple task in theory, but actually not at all easy due to difficulties reaching bolts and nuts to tighten them. I should have it completed in a day or two. If that does not lower it enough, the only option that I see is to cut the pedestal out and replace it with something that lowers it more. I guess I will see how I like this mod in the spring. Thanks for all the comments.
  12. I'm sort of glad to hear that I'm not the only one who thinks the seat is too high. Hopefully Nautique will figure something out for the 2018 models. I hope to remove the seat in the next couple of days and I'll tell you all what I find.
  13. Hey Don, I have already added the air dam. It helps (especially days like yesterday when it is kind of cool), but I am still looking into the mirror at maneuvering speeds. At skiing speeds I am looking through the top of the windshield and still get a lot of air hitting the top of my head. Even with the mirror moved, I'm looking into the top bar of the windshield at maneuvering speeds. If I were designing the boat, I would either make driver seat sit lower or make the windshield go up a bit higher (probably the latter). Neither of those seem easy to do as a modification but I have not pulled the seat out yet to see how easy it might be to lower. The seat sits on a pedestal but it is not clear to me whether that pedestal is molded into the floor. If it is molded in, the only way I see to lower the seat involves cutting fiberglass - not something I really want to do on a new boat.
  14. So, in response to a couple of the comments. 1) I tried moving the mirror to the center. The mirror mount hits before the bumpers when you open the center window and in the middle of the summer I like to have that window open for a breeze and that would put the mirror facing backwards. 2) Yes I am somewhat tall - 6'3", but several in my neighborhood have comment that the seat is high. 3) I will look into the 4" extension. 4) Thanks for all the suggestions. If someone else has a suggestion, please chime in.
