  1. Lots of weight on the back foot...not good.

Keep your front leg bent enough so you can’t see your toes...that will shift your weight forward.

It takes time to build the confidence to aggressively cut thru the wake...baby steps are good.

    Most importantly HAVE FUN!

  2. Yes...you’re wasting time swapping back/forth between skis...

The guy who just won the Masters told be to stay on the same ski all the time.

It’s not the rope, handle, ski...

It’s you that’s holding yourself back. Get some lessons, get in the gym...otherwise it’s going to be Groundhog Day every day.

  3. Sea Foam is great stuff, but if the primary jets are plugged from bad gas it probably won’t help.

Full bottle in tank or 1/2 tank won’t hurt anything.

Might have to pull the carb (actually just pull the metering blocks) and clean the primary jets. Holley 4160 is a easy carb to work on.

New ignition parts won’t hurt either, then you have a baseline of what’s been replaced with new and you can move forward with trouble shooting.

  4. Lots of solid outboard ski boats available, usually better wakes than traditional inboard tugs.

Sell the surf boards, it isn’t going to happen.

Can’t really move much sand (if any) with a jet ski...it’s that whole “action, opposite reaction” thing going on.

  5. It’s fine for a beginner course skier at 26-28...there is NO WAY you can learn the course at 34.

It’s not the ski as why you didn’t make it past the second ball, it’s you (harsh but true....keep’in it real).

Course skiing is a totally different animal...start slow and work your way up. Solid instruction from a pro will get you heading in the right direction, and teach you the fundamentals that are required to succeed at this.

When you do progress, it is a bit too long at your weight.

  6. Once you start down this path you’re not going to be happy with a cobbled together system that may or may not work right, ever...

Drop the coin and do it right...it’s only $1500ish to get a system that works and will always work right...

  7. Planning on keeping my boat on the lake this summer, have an EZ Slalom to splash with enough help.

Western Kenosha County...Lily Lake/Lily Lake Resort.

They installed a spillway on the lake last fall so high water/no wake should not be an issue.

Due to my work sked, I have only 2 -3 days notice of when I will be off.

Course will be installed during the week, weekends are too busy on the lake. Due to the rules here course must be removed daily. Really nice boat launch and the resort has great food.

Will have my pontoon boat for setting the course.

I have the PM’s for the people that are interested in skiing, would prefer not to use my boat as a “club boat” (BYOB) but if only a couple of skiers come out we can work something out.

This would be for FUN/beginner course skiers welcome (I suck at course skiing) if you’re hard core this probably isn’t for you, and there are other courses available in the area for you. I ski for fun and the personal satisfaction, the only way to improve at course skiing is to course ski...you have to be in a course to get better...

  8. @Cnewbert My comment wasn’t directed at you (although the way it’s written I see how it could be taken wrong, it was more an open comment to those who suggested the Senate. Should have clarified).

Snow skiing is not NEARLY as physically demanding compared to waterskiing, keep that in mind. I can snow ski relatively hard (mountains not Midwest molehills) all day vs 3 hard sets without a break.

The Union is just a tad narrower than the Senate, same shape (as you know since you’re a Radar guy).

The Butterknife would be my choice for him, it is easier to deep water start. Let him get the skill set/muscle group back and then he could progress to the Union. Go Long (69).

  9. Butterknife or Katana...

You must not like this guy if you’re thinking about putting basically a 64 year old beginner on a Senate...

If he progresses thru the BK or Katana THEN have him look at a Senate, but realistically the BK or K will be more than enough ski, they’re very easy to deep water start and won’t wear the guy out. NOTHING will turn this person (or ANYONE) off quicker is a bunch of failed starts, and riding a ski that wears you out after a short period of time. Go with a 69 at his weight, he’s NOT going to be shredding the course.

    Harsh but true...
