  1. Having tackled this before, in my 2000, It’s possible to get to the rudder assembly without removing the tank. You have to remove the carpeted cover over it. Next you have to loosen the straps that hold down the tank, and remove them (3/8 socket I believe).

Then take some blocks and lift and block up the tank do you can get under it to reach the rudder assembly ( much easier with little to no gas in the tank).

I do this each year to grease my rudder and check the linkage.

It’s involved, but worth doing yourself if it saves you $800. Then I’m also the guy that took on the Repower myself in my garage.

  2. Coming from a 5.0 the seat of pants feel is nuts. I’m going to take a few passes to get the right pull-up for people. The 5.0 was in gear-the punch it. Easy up for every but the lightest skiers
  3. Sounded like it was an extra cash prize that a local ski shop and GM marine put on.

I’m not sure why Joel didn’t participate, but maybe he was letting the guys who spent a lot on their trip out have a shot at it.

  4. @sgregg or @Jody_Seal

Have you guys needed to add any weight in the bow on the bubble butt nautique with added weight of the 409?

It’s about 100lbs heavier it looks like over the pro sport engine I pulled out

  5. @Doug That looks good. Will the clamshell need to be shimmed up on that one without the cats. Was wondering if my tsc1 will be able to get away without the shim if I don’t do cats.
  6. Here we are a year later. Just ordered my 6.0 409. I’m going to be 15k plus incidentals and doing the swap with some buddies.

I’ll post some photos of how it goes. With the price of zero off boats still high and the shape my 2000 ski is in I can run this one for a long time and still be $ ahead. Plus I’ll have a 0 hr drive train with new controls it will feel like a new boat. I won’t have to worry about how the last owner took care of the first 1600 hrs on it.
