  1. I think the Omni is a good ski for her ability level. Instead of a new ski Maybe consider having her ski a little faster. I like to free-ski through the course. Use the turn buoys as indicators but just shadow them, either early or slightly inside. Skiing a little faster might make it easier to ride balanced on the ski and work on technique. Try 28.
  2. How much does she weigh, and how long is the Omni? Can you describe more what she doesn’t like about the Omni? Omni is a great ski-the union would be a step down, but if she’s sinking on the Omni the union may help at slower speeds. Lyric/senate is the radar version of Omni, so unless going larger to support her at slower speeds I don’t think it’s going to help.
  3. It’s the carbon plate-holes are fine. The toe-hold screws loosened a couple times a few years ago when new. After I got sick of removing the plate to tighten I decided to use a little blue loc-tite. Then they were fine for at least a year or 2 so I stopped checking them-still checked the other screws routinely of course. That was my mistake. The dab of loc-tite on one of the posts must have let go and loosened. The other post was still fine. Shame on me-I know I should check all my equipment every time, but after checking the toe-loop for so long with no loosening I just assumed…. Last time I make that mistake-it freaking HURT.
  4. You know the screws on reflex bindings that hold the front toe bar in place? The ones that come up from the bottom? I lock-tited mine a couple years ago because they kept loosening and they've been fine ever since. Until today. Felt something wrong in the crossing and luckily managed to get back on top before crashing. You can see me look down at the last moment before my foot came off my ski. Ouch, but could have been worse!

  5. @wonwoolee what Sam said. Both skis are amazing so no bad decision here. If it were me, I’d probably choose the syndicate and sell the carbon. Just because if I did the opposite I’d always be wondering with every new buoy/pass “would I feel the difference now?” I never regret buying the best and the syndicate is NOT going to impede your improvement.
  6. Not about breaking a ski, it’s about how they ride. Sounds like you didn’t notice a difference in performance, which is what I would expect. I think you’d only notice a difference at faster speeds/shorter lengths. The carbon Omni is a great ski and only subtly different from the syndicate version IMO.
