I am planning to be running in a course much more next year and have been looking at the prospect of upgrading my speed control system. I would like to find a 3-event star gazer system used, but it seems next to impossible. I just wanted to put this feeler out there to see if anyone had a lead on a complete, or less than complete system somewhere they would consider selling.

Good way to keep HO and Edge bindings in business imo. I think they missed the mark on this one.

I developed a tennis elbow condition this season in my right forearm/bicep, at least what I THINK is tennis elbow. It went from a serviceable condition to pretty bad, can't ski for a week in one set. It pretty much came on because of skiing with my arms bent like a t-rex. The way I was able to keep skiing, was for one, put extra emphasis on not contracting my biceps when I ski so much, and two: flipping my grip from right palm down, to right palm up. If I didn't realize that this allowed me to ski pain free, I probably would have cut my season pretty short. I am still working to recover, and it has been a pretty slow process. Things like pull ups, bicep curls and other 'overhand' grip methods of working out still hurt, while underhand seems to be just fine. So I responded to this survey as I would like to be able to switch my grip back, but ultimately I need to really fix my skiing mechanics.

If S-lines does an ergo roll similar to the masterline version, I am purchasing a rope and handle immediately!

Does anyone other than masterline make an ergoroll handle like this? I got to ski one this year and thought it was awesome, but I don't know if it was $300 awesome.

@bko I think another point that goes along with what you said here is that Reflex is proposing this design as if the skis are designed to flex and perform optimally without a binding. I don't see how this could be the case when every binding currently available uses a plate.

That was my first thought, also that the boot is gonna wreck the top of the ski.

@tjs1295 yep its a good time on that stretch of the river for sure. Just now seeing the first duck boats out there, which means our days are starting to become limited which is sad, but I love fall skiing.

@dtrumbower This is my primary ski spot. I very rarely ski the course, but I just bought myself some buoys. Lots of good & helpful crews frequent that area. Just FYI to people not in the know, you gotta bring your own buoys and don't leave them in overnight.

@WIRiverRat I saw this while fishing early this spring. Seemed way too cold to be skiing already, but someone had to put the buoys in apparently!

So what's the long term word on running no rubber flappers? I was able to come across some malibu stainless tips, but a little apprehensive to install on my 94 Prostar because I am required to get rid of the flappers.

I've been thinking about one of these for awhile. How big of a front wing do you need to have fun behind a DD? They make them pretty massive now for small wakes, but big intro price on this for never witnessed someone foiling before.

@tjs1295 I think it's telling enough with how many pros are having to ride with 2 knee braces, or are currently recovering from a knee injury...

All three manufacturers killed the 'normal family' demand of the DD ski boat by making it so purpose built. Zero storage, horrible ride quality on a big lake, no rear trunk, marginal rear seating, etc, what do you expect. They replaced the bigger DD boats with more usable v-drives that ski poorly, but good enough, considering most people aren't taking slalom skiing very seriously. I ski behind a friends 197 quite a lot, which is probably the best family oriented DD out there, but still it gets REALLY tight after adding more than 5 people in that boat. V-drive is much more feasible. Can't see any of the manufacturers reversing course on this because of profit on a v-drive boat and lack of demand for a DD family boat oriented towards skiing. Speaking of wakeboarding, seems like way less people do that, than even slalom skiing from my point of view! Where I go boating there are tons of DD ski boats 90's-mid 2k's. Otherwise its people surfing only which is super lame.

I sort of want one of these to mess around on but I still see them for sale around $400 for a 20 year old ski, is this normal? Have the trick ski shapes essentially made zero progression in the last 20 years?

@DCook ever have issues wit those type of anchors? That doesnt seem like too bad of an idea. Installing during the winter would be no problem for me. Do you have a sub buoy attached to every anchor? How exactly does that work, does it just float 2 or 3 feet up instead of being on the surface? Alternatively, Another thought I had was to try and leave everything attached to the insta-course, leave the 2 end anchors in the water. When finished skiing, winch the whole setup to one end of the lake to leave on shore, somehow avoiding a tangled mess. Then when I want to deploy, just drag it back to reconnect to the far end anchor.

@killer The muck is the reason we are a little apprehensive on letting the PVC just sit on the bottom. We are going to try it, but worried its going to get so full of junk that it won't float. Off-course is something I am looking into. Little bit pricey, maybe next year though.

Hi Guys, I was hoping to get some opinions of how I should setup a more permanent style of course on my lake. I recently purchased property on a small private access lake that is about 2700 ft long and works perfectly as a slalom lake with the insta-course. There are a couple of other houses on the lake that do not ski and while they are comfortable with the buoys in the water, it is not an option to leave the buoys in permanently, unfortunately, but I understand. If I didn't ski I probably wouldn't want this either. I am looking for some suggestions to create a 'more'-permanent solution than an insta-course if possible. The lake fairly flat and is 5ft deep in the ends, going down to about 8ft in the middle, would say on average its about 6'. MUCK bottom unfortunately that I do not know how far the muck goes down in the middle of the lake, could be quite a bit. Others do use the lake the jetski around, pull their kids on the tube, and do a bit of fishing, so having the buoys only 2' or whatever below the surface when not in use is also not an option. Initial thoughts here was to just add large washers or some other magnetic source to the ends of the buoy leads, leave the PVC, mainline, anchors on the ends in the lake permanently. Then when I want to ski, use a magnet to grab each buoy line to reattach and raise the course up. Thoughts?

@chrislandy 100k sure, but imagine spending $350k on a top end wakeboat and STILL not being able to sleep on it.

@GregDavis I have had steadypass installed in my boat for two seasons ('85 S&S), and have it now in a Prostar 205 '94 which I have not run yet. Do you have any specific questions about it? Basically my wife and I were super new to skiing and didn't feel like spending $1500 on speed control for the boat that I had paid $2k for. It works fine for 1/3 the price, if you're a good skier, buy perfect pass. If you aren't serious and just want something that holds speed so you aren't messing with the throttle, that's what its for. I will be buying perfect pass next year.

@bananaron For what it's worth, I have a 2017 VT-R that is almost all black with a bit of grey accenting, definitely no yellow. My buddy as a '17 VTX that is black and white. Never compared the two for ski-ability.

@DW Up-armoured vehicle with a 10s 1/4 mile hmm... Got a source for that one?

@swc5150 Can you post how you have that bimini mounted? Looks like its on your windshield? And basically avoided drilling holes completely. I want to try and do this on my 205..
