  1. I lived in Melbs more than a decade ago. I skied with this club. https://www.nwscskiclub.org.au/ Not far outside the city.
  2. I haven't done it but I've read some threads on this subject. Seems the biggest drawback is that the boats with OEM carpet don't have a smooth gelcoat under the carpet. It's a rough uncolored fiberglass as the inside of the hull was never intended to be visible. So unless you completely cover the inside with Sea Deck, the gaps between the pads will look pretty poor. Not an insurmountable problem, but a lot of work to get the hull looking good before laying down the Sea Deck.
  3. The release TomH pointed out will work, but I’m leery. I used a similar style release that mounted to a pylon over 20 years ago. We quit using it after some close calls. When a tricker falls fast and hard towards the boat, the load on the line can be so great that it takes a significant tug to release the mechanism. The curve round piece gets pushed into the lower moveable arm with such force that it becomes difficult to actuate. The version I had utilized a bearing in the lower arm to help allow the upper arm to release properly. Essentially for the two pieces to roll past each other. Maybe it helped, but it wasn’t perfect. We moved on to the Masterline style that has to be kept under tension by the pin person, otherwise it self releases. I know the OP is trying to work within his tow boat limitations but I wanted to share my experience with a similarly designed release.
  4. No. I took a look at some pics of my boat and the mirror is the same as jayski's post in this thread with the dual mirror setup.
  5. I've got a 2020 200 with the stock mirror that spins 180 degrees to go from a low setting to a higher one. High still isn't that high. I'm 6'3" so I'd love a little more elevation. The PTM units look nice. It wasn't clear to me on their website if they make an extension arm that works with the stock mirror. Anybody know?
  6. The dang transom spray. Poor execution, Nautique.
  7. I’ll try that next spring. My boat is now taking her winter nap. I’m pretty sure I was in slalom mode for my two WOT blasts.
  8. I had an older Ski Nautique that also ran higher RPM. I'm more of a tricker, so the extra RPM isn't really noticeable at 19 MPH. In the old or new boat. I did check my prop today, as my boat is on the trailer. Its a 668 just as you have. PCM lists the max RPM as 5500, or something close. I can't exactly remember. I was surprised to see Nautique prop the boat such that it was 500 below max. I'm sure they have a reason. I plan to stay with the factory prop. I won't try to out engineer the factory engineers.
  9. What is your rpm at WOT with the stock prop? I have a 2020 200. I've only seen about 5000 rpm. But I've only had it WFO twice with less than 10 hours on the clock. The engine might still be a little tight.
  10. Good suggestion skier2788 and jerrym. I’ll try that next time it’s on the trailer.
  11. @skierjp. Yes, a piece of hardware causing a vertical water spray between the platform and stern is a poor design. I didn’t buy a 1995 Yamaha Wave Runner.
  12. I agree with Markn that I shouldn't have to correct this problem. However, I do feel a little better knowing that my hydrogate is probably not wildly out of adjustment. Just poor design.
  13. I'll look a little closer at the distance of the platform to stern, next time I'm on the boat. If the hydrogate isn't causing it, then something else is dragging in the water to push water vertically. Perhaps the hand grab pocket in the front of the platform, or the little drain hole tubes for the pocket. I realize this is a cosmetic issue and not functional, but it just bothers me.
  14. I was hoping for constructive info about 200's, not comments about buying a Malibu. Since there are several comments in this thread about "all 200's do it", I guess it's just a design issue without a real fix. l'll move on to worrying about other things.
  15. I have a 2020 200 and I just noticed the rooster tail. I haven't played with the hydrogate enough to notice if the rooster tail exists in both slalom and trick modes and at all speeds. Any solutions other than moving the platform or installing a trim piece to close the gap between the stern and platform? This problem isn't a big deal. Just an annoyance that shouldn't happen.
