  1. I should add here that this is 100% pilot error, a result of pulling for a buoy I was unlikely to get no matter what as I continue my adjustment to ZO in our new tug. Also very thankful that it wasn’t my knee or ankle that gave way. Incredible response from @brooks FWIW I put the cuff back on and put the rear set screw in and went free skiing. Binding a bit stiffer but still functional. Still love it.
  2. If it’s a good price I say go for it, even if it’s not the “right” model ski for you. you will likely outgrow a 65” in a year or 2 and as said above there is little to no downside to upgrading. Still super fun to rip some open water turns on a top end ski for the 1/3 of the time
  3. Mildly off topic however if anyone reading this thread is considering a guard-was on the fence about handle guards until this season. Using a different version since May and don’t notice it being there. Then this happened mid season to a ski friend-a close call!jdayqe65l443.jpeg

Very happy to have it on now and after seeing this crash would be nervous not skiing with one. Another ski buddy has the ML one and likes it.

  4. Thanks folks. am using A1 and feeling good now. Sticking with HO line. Its a floating course so next time we deploy it i will try the mapping function. More we ski this boat the more we like it-such an improvement for both skier and driver. All our ski buddies also seem to like it-a lot!!

@liquid d late to the party is an understatement-got serious about course skiing when I was 50 lol

  5. So I have a question regarding the section about 20 minutes in where they discuss the common complaint the “wakes are too big” or “I’m getting bucked at the wake”. I understand that it is a body position issue but some boats, ie, non tournament boats, ie, older direct drives, spit out a significant bump, steep and hard with lots of trough on both sides. would a proficient skier with nice body position not still get a bounce or would they say wow that wake is really tough? Further to that thought is the pulling through the wakes bit. Can a good skier actually pull through the wake of a late 90s cross over direct drive?
  6. Most fun I’ve had skiing in a season.in my 50s. Skied a ton, as much as I could handle physically I think. set a goal of running 22 at beginning of season. Ran it in August. Then ran 28 later on. Took a few solid crashes, made some new friends, got better at skiing, stayed fit, boat ran great, had some beers after skiing. Good times
  7. Thanks everyone for their input. Sounds to me like it is worth the wait (2023 season )so that will likely be the route we go, leaning that way already. No plans to sell this boat so going to go for it. I think drivability and driver comfort are important as you generally spend more time in the boat than behind it. basically impossible to get into a new pstar and try one out, maybe a trip to Florida is in order.
  8. I would tend to agree with @Horton in that the high end skis are a lot more forgiving than they were in the past and therefore reach a larger range of skier. When I slow the boat consistently in a few years or more I will likely just go from a 66 to a 67 in a high end ski even tho I am not a 32 off skier, as opposed to going to a cross over ski or what ever. Was on a crossover ski a few skis ago and once I made the change I could not believe the improvement.
