If it’s a good price I say go for it, even if it’s not the “right” model ski for you. you will likely outgrow a 65” in a year or 2 and as said above there is little to no downside to upgrading. Still super fun to rip some open water turns on a top end ski for the 1/3 of the time

Mildly off topic however if anyone reading this thread is considering a guard-was on the fence about handle guards until this season. Using a different version since May and don’t notice it being there. Then this happened mid season to a ski friend-a close call!
Very happy to have it on now and after seeing this crash would be nervous not skiing with one. Another ski buddy has the ML one and likes it.

FWIW I used B2 a number of times before changing to A1 based on some reading into the theory of letters and numbers and on what I felt was the issue. I could see maybe A2 orB1 my next experiment

Thanks folks. am using A1 and feeling good now. Sticking with HO line. Its a floating course so next time we deploy it i will try the mapping function. More we ski this boat the more we like it-such an improvement for both skier and driver. All our ski buddies also seem to like it-a lot!!
@liquid d late to the party is an understatement-got serious about course skiing when I was 50 lol

Thought it was great all around sports entertainment, only thing missing was J Bull in the lineup.

Never mind I see one at mob.

Anyone know of a guard that will fit a master line ergo handles?

So I have a question regarding the section about 20 minutes in where they discuss the common complaint the “wakes are too big” or “I’m getting bucked at the wake”. I understand that it is a body position issue but some boats, ie, non tournament boats, ie, older direct drives, spit out a significant bump, steep and hard with lots of trough on both sides. would a proficient skier with nice body position not still get a bounce or would they say wow that wake is really tough? Further to that thought is the pulling through the wakes bit. Can a good skier actually pull through the wake of a late 90s cross over direct drive?

@DoubleD yep when it’s too cold to ski here it means it’s time for hockey season and to put the boat away
-
When it gets too cold for my HO gloves I know it’s time for these

I only ski poor conditions early in the season to get in ski-shape, we call em fitness skis

Most fun I’ve had skiing in a season.in my 50s. Skied a ton, as much as I could handle physically I think. set a goal of running 22 at beginning of season. Ran it in August. Then ran 28 later on. Took a few solid crashes, made some new friends, got better at skiing, stayed fit, boat ran great, had some beers after skiing. Good times

This is a great thread esp the parts about skiing the course. @scoke you nailed it, major lightbulb moment up here in Canada, yes still skiing.

We’re going classic black, grey and white

Curious to know how often folks change the rope generally, heavy use and uv must also affect the performance and longevity even if multiple loops are used on the pylon
-
Thanks everyone for their input. Sounds to me like it is worth the wait (2023 season )so that will likely be the route we go, leaning that way already. No plans to sell this boat so going to go for it. I think drivability and driver comfort are important as you generally spend more time in the boat than behind it. basically impossible to get into a new pstar and try one out, maybe a trip to Florida is in order.

In a very similar situation and I personally have found that keeping boat speed consistent works best. Fewer variables the better
-
I would tend to agree with @Horton in that the high end skis are a lot more forgiving than they were in the past and therefore reach a larger range of skier. When I slow the boat consistently in a few years or more I will likely just go from a 66 to a 67 in a high end ski even tho I am not a 32 off skier, as opposed to going to a cross over ski or what ever. Was on a crossover ski a few skis ago and once I made the change I could not believe the improvement.

I have the HO long sleeve shorty the best wetsuit I’ve ever owned or worn. Use it from May 1 in Ontario to late October. It’s snug but I think that’s the point I’m 184cmx75kilos in a large
