  1. I have read (not validated) that the reflection off the water is worse than the sun directly beating down on the gel. Kind of makes sense but a cover is the only way to go.
  2. Exact same situation with the boat I owned for 20 years. Front looked great - back was faded. I had it buffed out professional several times - until they buffed through the gel (white 'flecks' were showing through the blue). That was it - I couldn't get if buffed out anymore, wish i had gone with a waterline cover sooner, even after the first treatment would have helped.
  3. Agree with you. I have a friend that has a 2004 197 and I also don't like the wake at 22 off. Reminds me of the X9 wake, only a bit smaller.
  4. I think the X-9 is newer than you are looking at but I would avoid. I owned one for years and took a beating - the wakes are large and sharp. Not bad for wakeboarding and with the deeper V handles rough water nicely. But for slalom nada.
  5. You look at any body of water that is glass calm - no matter how small - and think how great it would be to ski.
  6. Never heard of such a thing - but VERY cool!!
  7. You called it - I regret selling that boat. I would get another but I don't have the dock space.....
  8. On my last boat, which I owned over 20 years with no engine issues, I would warm my boat to 140 deg before my first pull. Cost a lot of fuel and engine hours not to mention time. What's the collective wisdom of this group regarding min operating temp before 'hit it'?
  9. I have never used the cut-off switch in any of the inboards I owned. I did own a Donzi Sweet 16 and I would wear it religiously - there was a good chance I could have been tossed in that thing.
  10. Agreed! The crazy part is the wife wanted it just as much as I did - and she doesn't even ski (yet). So no justification there either. And that, my friends, is one of many reasons why she is my wife 😉
  11. i have always taken my boat to my local MC dealer to get it professionally done by their glass guy. They do an amazing job - like new.
  12. In the mid-90's I bought my first boat - 1987 Prostar 190 for $10k - that's $20K in todays dollars. My next boat was a 2001 MC that I bought in 2002 - paid about $35k - that's $60k in today's dollars. I just picked up a 2022 Prostar for ~$100K. I guess I can sleep at night since I spent an additional $40K for a boat that is so much better in every aspect (wake, power, tech, interior). At least that's how I justify it 😀
  13. Awesome - thanks for the info. That IS crazy wide but looks like it works well.
  14. Looks like the listing was taken down - let me know if this becomes available again.
  15. Just bought a 2022 Prostar and am setting up my lift in anticipation of delivery. Anyone know the ideal bunk width? My dealer said to start at 20 inches from center but they did not seem confident in the answer. Thanks!
  16. The fact they are willing to ship worldwide is a dead giveaway.
  17. Makes sense - thanks for the replies. In the market for a late model Prostar and was curious. How about fuel economy? Not on a private lake so will be using the boat as a 'daily driver' as well. Any input?
  18. Why is it a favorite engine for slalom? Been looking and seems like the 6.0 would be plenty.
