  1. @MISkier Yes but that is not the current culture of the sport and I know for a fact there is some level of worry about the increased liability of older boats.
  2. @RAWSki with a new promo boat, there is an assumption that boat is all up to spec and as safe as possible. One of the worries about old boats in tournaments is (as an example) the steering cable could be old and break and there could be an accident that results in an injury.
  3. Looks like "Baller Video Coaching System" is the official name. Mrs. BallOfSpray and I went out for sushi last night and brainstormed name options. She wanted to name it one of these A) You Suck At Water Skiing - YSAWS B) Kaiju Video ( translates to Monster Video) C) Distance Video Coaching - DVC I confess I did consider YSAWS. I think it is funny but I am pretty sure not everyone would think it is funny. @BOS_Shirts shirts that say YSAWS would be super funny to me but I think we might want to skip this idea. 🙂
  4. Obviously, everyone knows I have a business relationship with MasterCraft and want everyone on this website to order a new ProStar. I believe in the product and believe in the company. My current ProStar is so pretty! I am also not stupid and understand that not everyone can or wants to pay for a new boat. We need as many skiers as possible and we need water skiing to be as affordable as possible. I sincerely wish the tournament scene would embrace the use of older boats. There is NOTHING wrong with an 08 or later 196. To be a tournament skier you do not NEED a new or almost new boat. We all want a new boat but we do not NEED a new boat. During COVID I owned a 196 for about 9 months. It was a fine boat. My wife said it smelled funny but it drove fine and skied fine. Yes there are some real safety and liability issues with older boats at tournaments but every year we have less promo boats. The sooner the sport works this out and accepts old boats as tournament boats the better.
  5. @chaloux Just find a clean 08 or later 196. With the money you save you can upgrade. Those boats are bulletproof and not much can go wrong that can not be replaced or refurbished.
  6. @mike_mapple To start with I am personally reaching out to skiers / coaches that I know and trust. I need to move slow to avoid a GiveGo type disaster. With some luck I will have one big name on the system in the next week or two. Stay tuned for that announcement. Beyond that, if skiers want a specific coach then I want that coach on the platform. My bottom line is I want happy Ballers. Also @ColeGiacopuzzi may not be a super famous name but he knows what he is talking about PLUS you can trust him. For a few less $ than famous name coaches, l will do lessons until the system gets momentum. My coaching is always about core fundamentals. Skiers between 28 off and 38 off are where I have the most to say.
  7. @DvarianDan Johnson I can only speculate on what went wrong at GiveGo. I think Willie ( the GiveGo guy) was over-ambitious and is a "sell it now and apologize later sort of character". He is a very charismatic entrepreneur. Frankly, I think he dug himself a hole and then kept digging. From what I hear he is personally good guy but based on our business interactions I am sure I will never be on his Christmas card list. With Baller Video Coaching if your coach does not follow through in a timely manner they will get a personal call from me and you will get your money back ASAP. That is one big difference. GiveGo also seems to have had a poor system for choosing coaches. Picking and choosing coaches is an admin problem that I will have to think about. What I can say is I saw some examples of GiveGo lessons that were embarrassingly bad. Those bad lessons would be unacceptable in my system. I personally care about the quality of every lesson because BallOfSpray is my brand.
  8. wife says ot should be Y.S.A.W.S.
  9. maybe Nautique will bring back the Ski Tique for 60k
  10. @Phil sorry to hear you're moving. for anybody looking for a place this lake skis amazing!
  11. I briefly considered Baller Ski Video Coaching and then I figured out it would get shortened to BSVC & anything that starts with BS is going to be a bad look 🙂
  12. The video should start at about 4:50 in the video with a question from @perfski Bill Porter
  13. with some luck, I think my developer just fixed the last bug. For the moment the name of the system is "BallOfSpray Video Coaching" BOSVC does not exactly roll off the tongue. I am open to suggestions. I am also looking for a logo. If someone is a wizard with graphics I will trade some ski lessons for art. Nothing is set in stone but I do have a meeting with a pretty big name next week so this could get more real pretty fast. If one is a wizard with the backend of PayPal I might need that help also.
  14. @swc5150 Well the Malibu PR guy says the TXi will still be available*. They built 25 last year. Without any promo team boats in 2025 how many will they build? Maybe the boat will stay in the catalog for the moment. If they build 5 or 10 boats next year is it even relevant? The Regina news should speak volumes. (* The word of a PR guy is as valuable as the word of a politician.)
  15. @swc5150 They took the branding from a classic heritage product and slapped it on a new vehicle with 1/2 the cylinders*, 25% less towing capacity, 30% less seating, & 15% less HP. They did NOT lower the price of the Land Cruiser. They built a new, cheaper truck. Saying they lowered the price for nearly the same product is dishonest. *yes I understand that the modern V4s are amazing. Do you want to talk about a 75K ski boat again? Just search for Carbon Pro. I just can't rehash that again. I literally can't. As for the Tommy's "liquidation sale" ( my words not theirs ) I do not think this is going to directly impact ski boat prices but if the price cuts are significant it will disrupt the greater boat market in a bad way. Imagine you are a boat dealer ( any brand ) sitting on inventory and paying interest on every boat and then suddenly all the boats from Tommy's dealerships are noticeably discounted. In the short term it might be good for consumers but long term it is hard on the industry. Like it or not we need a healthy ski and boat dealer industry.
  16. @dvskier I would speculate that every txi built last year was a customer order and none none are sitting on any dealer floors
  17. @swc5150 I'm going to hold off on awarding you, your pandas temporarily. have you read this article? https://www.autoblog.com/2024/02/20/2024-toyota-land-cruiser-2024-pricing-announced/#:~:text=Starting at %2457%2C345%2C it's a,last model back in 2021&text=The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, plus a %241%2C395 destination charge.
  18. @bananaron I've been skiing with one of the handles for the last few months. it's great.
  19. @mknippen The Reflex system is clearly the gold standard in water skiing. I personally prefer the Reflex classic boot and now that Direct Connect fits the classic black boot this would be my choice. DC now comes with a micro-adjust system so you can move the boot forward and backward for exact placement. The key factor about the Reflex system and other Silvretta release systems ( HO and Edge ) is how easily I can test the release tension on the dock. Other systems require a leap of faith that does not make me comfortable. 8
  20. @Mateo_Vargas I will absolutely accept MBUU you shares. My assumption is they are near their bottom and will only increase in value after the dust settles. as a side note, you can expect me to short side you at every buoy on every pass this afternoon. @jhughes every elite skier / coach will be invited to join the coaching pool. Considering Chris's other commitments and responsibilities I don't know if he's going to participate but it would be awesome if he did.
