  1. When I bought the Original Sixam I knew from others that it was one of the best skis ever built, and it was. When it went dead I was looking for the same feeling but an upgrade and what could be better than Elite? It’s a great ski, probably one of the best but very demanding when it comes to body position and patience. I need a ski that helps me when I am running late. Like Horton, “The key is to find a ski that rocks when I am dumb”.

Goode is out of the question. I have heard so many stories about their customer service and broken skis. If even the “local Ballers” have problems, how would they treat a Baller calling from the other side of the Atlantic?

The problem we have is that it is usually very difficult to try before you buy, so we just have to read reviews listen to others and try to make a decision and buy to the right price so you can sell without loosing too much money.

Right now I am thinking of Strada, Fusion, Razor and SR2.

  2. I have been skiing on the original Elite since 2009 it´s a great ski but very sensitive and challenging. When I am stacked and patient with my CM in the right place I ski well, wide and early. But too often I am back or forward on the ski and have to struggle to ski my harder passes. And I have not gained any balls since I went from Sixam..

Is there anyone who has experience from the 2010-2011 Elites, what are the differences? I have heard that the sweet spot is larger on the 2010-2012 skis. Anyone who have been skiing on the 2012?

    Thanks,

  3. Nice skiing Skinut! I think it is generally good but I have a few pointers.

In my opinion, the gate is good enough to run a 35-pass. But I think it would be better to easy up a little and make sure you was a bit more up on the ski, standing tall with centre of mass balanced over the ski.

I think the main problem is in the preturn. If you look at your arms, when you change edge, they are straight and pointing to the boat. Read this for a good explanation about handle control. http://www.ballofspray.com/tech-articles/87-what-the-heck-is-handle-control

Finally, try to keep your head and shoulders up during the whole process and let your hips turn in to the handle. It will help you to control the turn and the speed to the next ball, especially if you run ZO.

  4. Brent, Elite is a great ski, but very demanding when it comes body position and settings.

Tnh2oskier, From my own experience... When we ski very well one day we usually expect ourselves to ski just as well or even better the next day. When we do that we think too much, try too hard and can't reach the performance we are looking for. I am sure we would ski better if we could start every day with a quiet mind not thinking of passed achievements.

  5. I am maybe not the right guy to tell since I haven´t been taking any OTF since I changed to Strada. I am quite sure that I will come out in a nasty fall. I run the laces very loose since Strada is working just as well with a lot of elasticity left in the laces. (Once you get used to it). It is my firm believes that both feet should go out in a fall...or both stay in. With one foot in and the other out you are in a bad position to take the torques from a twisting ski.

    I like a

little less DFT, about 0778-.780 flat. As Dawg mentioned it will slow down the

glide before the gate and keep the skitip down at the end of the turn.  For me it is also important to stand tall on

the ski in the glide, when I turn in and in the preturn to have my center of

mass in the right place. (Some skier do that by bending their knees, I just can´t

do that.) I also think that a little more patience in the turn before you hook

    up will be a winner. Good Luck!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

    I agree with

Than & Shaneh. Another thing that might help you is, try to make the

turn longer, think of it as you are turning all the way in to the first spray

    and then only load from there to 2 wake.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

  8. To bend or not to bend..that is not really the question. There are a lot of different styles in waterskiing and what works for you, is right. If you can keep you center of mass in the right place by bending your knees, do it. If you do better by standing tall on your ski with more pressure on the front foot, do it. The most important thing is to stay balanced on the ski. Take a look at MB, Mike Morgan, Terry W or Lucky and some others and you will see that there are a lot of different styles that works extremely well. What they all have in common is that they have there CM in the right place. My 2 cent…
