  1. ***sorry for the block text, the forum software does not recognize formatting from Safari. I'll make this more readable when I have the chance to switch over to a Windows machine*** 1. What we really need is to increase the complexity of ZO at the skier end. Fantastic, but don't expect me to explain proton spin to skiers that have never tried the new settings. 2. Possibly oversimplification, but at least I didn't have to bust out the calculus to explain what the settings were doing. 3. If you're stuck with ZO, this is probably the best thing you could hope for. Again, who is pushing them to develop this? Without major competition, very little. Requests 1,2,3 aside, I think this really highlights our need as skiers to evaluate what we want and need out of ski tournaments. For what I see, the amateur tournament scene finds itself in need of more flexibility in towboat choice, that flexibility can only be found with an F class sanction, but those scores will not qualify for national seeding.
  2. I can imagine that water, yeast, grain, and various spices is less unhealthy than beverages created almost solely with artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, and artificial flavors.
  3. I have no idea when HO started shipping that ski. It's part of the 2010 lineup, and is not being closely associated with their top skis. I would not expect there to be a ton of skier feedback yet. Sometimes you can slot by price. This one matches up with the D3 X5.
  4. wtrskii3156 I happen to know a PT that works with a handful of MLB players. I've never thought to ask his imression on P90. I do know that my brother bought the program, but he hasn't commented much on it other than that he's sore the day after. I have been meaning to take a look at it, but you know... haven't quite gotten around to it yet. My outside impression is that it brings the structure, subsequent changes, and more importatnly the accountability that your average home-gym user doesn't have, doesn't know, or doesn't know know he needs.
  5. http://blog.proskicoach.com/2009/11/dress-up-your-ski-with-skiskin.html http://skiskinz.com/images/skinz/small/pbr.gif I don't think anything is set in stone yet. You could e-mail Wade to see where they're at.
  6. If you've got anything to dish on the release, I know that I'd love to hear it. Could you see any branding or model line on the heel release?
  7. Quick redirect here. From a judges perspective. Is there something about the gates that could be changed to make them easier to call?
  8. Is this discussion really taking place? Yes it is. It was the topic du jour when it was Andy's skiing. The underlying theme, at least as I saw it was, "What does missing the gates mean those passes." It is more than reasonable to discuss gates, what they mean to skiing, and if there is a logical way to change them better. I don't think that there should be no starting point at all. I do find it insane that if I miss the gates downcourse, even in the unlikely case that I run the pass, the entire pass is scratched. Same on the exit gates. Let's say I've got the blinders on and go for seven ball, cross in front of the exit gates, the pass is scratched. And let's be honest, there are some sites where the gates are devilishly hard to judge.ÂÂ
  9. If you highlight the text and then click the link button (3rd to the left of the smily face), copy that url into the link url line... poof, programming magic drops the window right into place. I'm thinking that is a physical cue to help keep the shoulders level. So pretty much what thager said.
  10. Let's talk about these pesky buoys. I'm not finding polls so we'll just do this the long way. As I see it there are three wasy to go about entering the course. Gates are great as they are. Get rid of the gate buoys entirely. They are irrelevant. Especially as the line shortens, if you go too early to one, you will handicap yourself heading to two: quickly negating the advantage of an early start (Don't care about longline. Extra buoys boost egos, maintain interest, and nobody has ever set a record at -15' or -22') Get simple. There just needs to be a single buoy. The only coherent though on placement is that you do not want it to be so close that skiers are trying to cheat it. So possibly take the left gate buoy and move it back 2 or 3 feet. The pass is valid so long as the skier crosses the buoy line after he or she has passed that single buoy.ÂÂ
  11. Ahh yes, the Arm-Guardtm. It's a carefully designed, custom milled sheet of lexan designed to keep you head and arm from going through the handle bridle. It's garanteed to make people ask, "What the hell is up with your handle?" at tournaments. Inevitably that skier will have that once every 3rd season fall that makes you think you really could inadvertantly use your handle as a necktie and ask for TW's email. Come to think of it, I believe the template for his website is actually up, it just hasn't been plumbed with the ording information. But please do TW tease us a little more with what's planned for the 2.0 model. 2010 will be the 3rd season on mine. Stopped noticing it after 2 sets. After 2 years, boat crews have finaly figured out how switch out the handle too. Might have grazed the rubber certierpiece once or twice. Never come close using it for it's intended purpose (i.e. punching it with my fist or face), and don't plan to, but it's still some of the best money I've spent for slalom. It just annoys me when my dad takes it off his handle for tournament season. ÂÂ
  12. If I learned one thing from 4 years of college is, "It's not pink, it's light red!"
  13. Almost makes me want to call an FBI office and see if they want to have some fun these people that try to pull of such an uninspired scam. Even with that first e-mail, it's just a little too robotic to be a real inquiry, and the phrase, "I will handle the pickup," is a quick DQ.
  14. No kidding. I thought the black on black was a little pedestrian.
  15. 1. Bindings mounted on a central rain that is permanently attached to the ski. 2. The boot is closed toe buy has a textile or faux-leather outer. Could be their take on the RS-1 style release. Something other than what we saw teased at Surf Ski (from Wade Williams blog). Or maybe those boots were going to be massively expensive and they chose to go with a simpler, cheaper design and those are the elites. 3. That wire looks like a grounding strap. I'm not sure how that makes sense. Could that box up front be some kind of receiver for a pressure sensor in that central rail that is measuring flex and torsion in real skiing conditions?  4. Could be some kind of release unit. I doubt it, but I know atomic used to make bindings where there was an LCD display on the front unit. I'm not sure what it did, and I don't think atomic makes those bindings anymore.ÂÂ
  16. Going to bump an old thread here. Anyone in the know have an idea if the 2010 Senate inherited shaping from the Strada or is it still the RS-1 derivative that is was in 2009?ÂÂ
  17. Your Ski as a Lever You've made a significant change in the shape of the ski, I would expect that there is a significant change in the way the ski needs to be balanced.
  18. Last time I went to Angel Fire, there was a snowboarder out there with turnout pants. I geeked out a little, but that's not nearly as cool as towing a Mastercraft with a fire engine. Now if only you could get a ladder truck, you'd be able to get some wicked camera angles to document your sets.
  19. When you find out you're a D3 guy, or generally prefer Goodes, it's hard to get you to try something else first. If you've been on an X5 for years, you'd be much more likely to order in a Z7 to test before a Prophecy or an S1. I tend to think that ads and endorsements have more to do with moving combos and recreational slaloms than with selling top-flight skis. The most effective advertising for slalom skis has been and will continue to be word of mouth.ÂÂ
  20. That's one of the more surprising aspects of the ski, it's the same price as the RS-1.
  21. Thager, love it! Deke, hope your skis came through alright. With it getting harder to avoid baggage fees and pictures like that, I'll think twice about schleping the boots with me and just sending the ski UPS.
  22. I think the $54 question is, will the Strada be able to get you off the Elite on a semi-permanent basis?
  23. You may still want another pair of eyes, but the need is greatly diminished now that users have the rights to edit their own entries. Look very good so far. When we get more personal data, I'm going to answer that question about the length to depth ratio. Something to look into. The button to enter the vertical view is the text of the ski name. If a user enters a ski without a name, there is no way to enter the vertical view or edit the ski name. That probably just going to be one of the idieosyncrocies of that format unless you can make all data points into the button that will access the vertical view.ÂÂ
  24. I got a few of those stock settings knocked out. There are a few that need to be cleaned up or deleted and I can redo them. S1 68" year needs to be changed to 10 instead of 90-95 Prophecy 65" front boot should be changed to Connelly Z7 64" upside down should be selected for wing Z7 65" Read binding dft needs to be moved to front boot Z7 66" year needs to be change to 10 instead of 09 X5 second entry for 65.5" with find length 6.93 should be for the 66.5" ski I did put in an entry for the Warp 9. (for the 6 people that have one and the 1/2 person that doesn't have the numbers already). If you delete the space between the degree and parenthesis, the wing angles will display a little nicer. The stock settings for the Custom X are the same as the X5 if you can copy paste. There are stock settings for the 2007 Nomad RC, but not the early Nomad.
