  1. I learned to get up dragging a foot in the 80s. Then I bought a Kidder redline with double boots and that was over. I rember how easy it was to get up dragging that foot and after finding out I have disc degeneration in L4L5 I thought I would give it a shot again. Today was the first day and I could hardly run 22! I felt like I was all over on the ski and my off side turned real hard....but it was so much easier on my back getting up!

Anyone else make the switch and if so how long tell you got used to it?

  2. I've never used Powershells but I have been on Reflex with Rstyle for about 4 years. My set up is on their single carbon plate. When I switched to a Goode mid last year I taped the plate with 4 strips of 400, i was told it wouldnt release, stuck it to the ski. Rounded 1 ball and it the wake felt the front of the plate release and then slap back down. Scared the crap out of me! My next move was to cover the entire plate with 400 and 250 on the ski. I know there are those who get it to work for release but personally I would want to use it. I like the Reflex release and I can't see any need to change.
  3. I don't trust that sizing chart and was looking for some personal experience. Talked to a big dawg skier about my size and he said he could ski the 65 it was just unforgiving. Thought I should skip the 66 and go with the 66.75. Cuurently on a 66 mid i li so I think I'm going to wait.

  4. I have the R set up as well and really like it. In the 4 years I have had it I have never had trouble releasing from the front or rear binding. Because of back trouble I'm going to give a toe plate a shot so I can one leg start. Otherwise I would stick with the R.
  5. Had pain in my back that wouldn't go away. Saw doc, MRI and it show some degeneration in L4/5. Doc is a wake boarder and understands the passion. Said it wasn't that bad, suggested rehab to keep strong.

Two questions, anyone else out there have similar problem? If so what exercises and how has it progressed.

Also thinking about going back to a toe loop after all these years so I can one leg start and relieve stress on my back. Was going to get a standard loop but saw what Radar has to offer. Anyone out there with any experience on switching back and what they use?

  6. I can't remember where, might have been thewaterskiforum.com , but there were a couple of guys calling Dr J out for not being far enough up on the boat @39 and 41. They would call bull and a whole host of people called it sour grapes, jealousy.

I was excited to hear the results from that weekend at his place. I thought it was cool that someone, new to the sport could do so well, spark interest.after it was done we had something else to talk about. My brother, who is not into skiing read about it on the ESPN website and called me.

    Crazy stuff!

  7. The bottom of the seat slides out but the back will go up and is supported on gas shocks. The vinyl on mine sticks and I have to seperate it some times. It's really good for nothing and a pain to pull up. Doesn't surprise me to know that people don't know that it's there.
  8. @Scot how old do you think Nate, Will and Tgas are? I really don't know, but they seem pretty young.

My Brother had a K2 waterski in the 70s that had a kicker with a heal cup. The first double boot ski I skied on was a Kidder Redline in 85 or 86. Never skied a course or went to a tournament in that era but I remember double boots being common in Bart's or the Overtons catalog.

  9. @jipster43 do you have the 4/3 psycho or a regular 4/3. The psycho is supposed to be that real stretchy, pliable "technobutter" material. I guess it's a lot different then a "wetsuit" at least that's what I'm trying to find out.
  10. Interesting, I thought it was Adam who approached Andy with the idea for the hollow ski. In the interview I read it said he went to a trade show and saw that companies were no longer using cores in their molding process. I kinda figured that Adam was the manufacturing side and Ady was she shape guy. I noticed the hype for AM skis had died when compared to the Strada and N1. Wish Andy the best of luck, we need more quality skis to choose from.
