  1. Thanks for all of the advise. I am leaning towards a new X7 or a Strada after further research. Can't wait to be skiing again.
  2. I am potentially in the market for a new ski and would love the advice of the "experts" on this board about a new ski. I am 33 almost 34 so I ski at 36mph as of now and weigh in around 200lbs (although shooting to get down to 190 by June 1). I run 15off fairly consistently in practice and can run 22off fairly often (50+% of the time) and occasionally have run 28 off although not very often. I obviously want to progress from this. I am on a 2007 D3 X7 (67.5) and generally like the ski, especially the stability, but do find it difficult to get the ski to come around quickly on my toe side turn so would like something with a little more snap around the turn. Being that the ski is now 5 years old I started to notice a little less snap and the handle ding I put in it has me worried that it might not hold up. I am not really interested in a Goode as I skied on one before and hardly knew how to stand on it, but open to other suggestions. Ski sizing is important as well as I feel the 67.5 was barely enough ski and I will be transitioning into 34mph end of next summer and want a ski that I can use for 3-5 years. I am also open to a slightly used ski. Thanks for any input you may have. Now off to read all of the ski tests.
  3. I don't post on here much, but this thread got me a bit intrigued. Our lake doesn't have a MC, but we had a promo MC pulled our tournament (strictly slalom) and there were a fair number of complaints about the MC wake. I will say that the wake seemed harder than the SN 200, but it wasn't something that should affect performance; however, for the kids, it was noticeably larger than the 200 and greatly affected the kids at the slower speeds. I will also say that the MC was a great looking boat with a lot of attention to detail and I wouldn't hesitate to ski behind one in practice or a tournament for that matter (although I would prefer the SN 200). As for the death comments, those seem a bit extreme as with this sport, it seems like there is always a risk of death or serious bodily injury as many of you can attest to.
  4. I hit a ball last weekend and tore several ligaments in my ankle last weekend and will be on the shelf for about 3 weeks and it got me re-thinking my binding set up. I currently have a D3 driver with a RTP. It did not release very well with a twisting fall (releases fine on an out the front). What would be good front binding with a RTP? I have heard that the radar set up is good with a RTP, is that accurate? I am leary of the hard shell with any silvereta type system becasue of the rear foot interating with that metal on a lesser fall.  Any advise would be appreciated and sites to purchase would also be appreciated.  Thanks.
  5. HO 410 is right regarding the younger skiers at least for me relating to tournaments. As a younger M2 (31) skier it is a bit tough for me to get into tournament skiing with everything going on in my life. I have a 2 year old daughter (already skiing on a ski trainer!!!!), establishing a carrer, remodling a house, constant weddings and other things going on, means I only get to ski 4 days a week (Thur-Sunday) so it is hard for me to get psyched about even a 2 set tournament where there are travel time considerations (especially where we live on the western slope) travel costs, hassels with traveling with a child, keeping her entertained at the site ect... versus 3 full sets as long as I want and relaxing at our home lake with friends and family.  I am also blessed to have parents who have a private lake and boat, othewise I wouldn't be into skiing at all, because it is very costly or inconsistent depending on where you live.  Â
  6. The real question is where can you do both in the same day. I ski with Marco and will make it my goal to do this next spring!Â
  7. I have been going through the same challenge and at the end of last year had a break through that hopefuly I can maintain this year. I found at 36 my edge change had to be way earlier, but I had to maintain body position and an outbound course even more so, because I couldn't afford to give anything away.  I tried starting at 34 at 22 off, then to 36 at 22 off at others suggestion, but that didn't change much or help much either way. I had a hard time at 36 regardless of the rope line, but the breakthrough made either one easier.ÂÂ
  8. Friend of Marco's here and familiar with the boat issue and we are aware of the rudder issue and a fix is suposed to be delivered with a new rudder box installation when they recalibrate. Hopefully this weekend.ÂÂ
