  1. John Are you measuring DFT using head or tail and what's the number? Thanks
  2. I've had the Prophecy for about a month. It's by far the easiest ski I've skied. My previous skis were the sixam ss and an F1. I've gone from running 32 off 50% to almost 100%. As a skier that doesn't get alot of ski time, I can hop on the prophecy and ski with quite a few faults, without alot of suprises. I've always struggled with my toe side but don't think about it now. To me it's a softer and lighter ride than the F1. It still rides deep like the F1 without the bite.

John can sell skis. I ordered a 67 Prophecy. Based on this forum I'm going to start at. 6.75 tips 2.49 depth .78 dft head 8 deg wing 29 1/8 front boot The main difference from my F1 numbers are length and wing where I'm at 6.83 and 6 deg. Are skiers coming from the F1 pretty much using the same fin settings. It's going to be a fun week
  4. I guess I haven't seen them. There must not be rubber in them at all.
  5. The white reminds me of an apre's ski you would find in Aspen. I would change to black too.
  6. At what point is the wing not doing anything. I'm down to 6 degrees and considering taking it off. I've dropped from 8 degrees and my F1 still turns great, but with less effort when I hookup. My next step after taking the wing off is buying a Prophecy.

I'v been on the F1 for a year now and still like it, but have a few questions. Both sides are turning well but when I hook up after my toe side turn I get pulled forward a bit. I eventually get to a good leveraged position but it's more of a struggle than it should be. Also the ski flutters a bit after my edge change going into my toe side turn. The settings on my 67 f1 are .78 dft(head) 6.85 length (tips) 2.51 depth 7 deg 29 1/8 front boot with drafts I'm also considering the Prophecy and would appreciate any feed back from skiers who have switched to the Prophecy from the F1 and what they like better. I called Connelly today and they said the Prophecy comes out of the same mold but with a different layup (flex pattern) and is slightly lighter. Thanks.

    $1590!

If it is a good idea and does improve your bouy count, should it be allowed in competion? Is that where we want the sport to go. Another piece of equipment to further complicate the sport.

The vest should be banned in competion as well as clinchers. Keep athletism and technique in the sport. They can be used in practice much like golf training aids. Enough is enough.
  10. I have a 67 2007 F1. I talked to the tech at Connelly last year and he said the stock setting for the front draft was all the way back. He had to measure it when I was on the phone and came to the conclusion that the inserts were to far forward. I did grind the cable attachment on the front binding and the front of the rear plate to get them on. It works great now. I got my fin numbers from rossi's site. I think they are 6.85 Lenght tips, .78 DFT head and 2.51 depth
  11. I currently ski a F1 67. For the most part I like the ski, but it can be unforgiving at times(32 off 34 mph skier). It performs well for me in the choppy water we get on our public lake course. Does the prophecy have the deep riding feel of the F1?  Any comparison verses the o'brien SS, my other ski, would be helpful too. thanks
  12. Agreed. I seem to be working on the same things when I'm snow skiing as waterskiing. Countering hips, ankle flexion, level eyes. Also when I'm waterskiing well, the forces feel the same to me. The load going down through my core to my legs, rather than my arms and back, like a hard banked GS turn.
  13. I'm in the middle of my kids ski racing season here in the Northwest. I was struck by the similarity of west coast instruction and this ski instruction video from Bode Miller http://sportskool.com/videos/carving

I've been on the F1 for two months and really like it especially the offside. Like others I've struggled with my onside. My numbers for my 67 with draft boots are. I'm 175lbs 32@34 skier 29.125 Front boot 5.21 depth 6.86 length tips .77 DFT head 8% wing A week ago I adjusted the wing to 6.5%(I'm considering taking it off). This solved my onside problem. I have no bite at the finish of the turn and still get great angle. Stability through the wake is great.

RS, I've had the F1 for about a month. Ski 32@34mph. I'm still pretty close to stock except for length (6.83). I was wondering what lead you to your current settings.
  16. It's a good thing I can spell. Back to the point. The manufactures aren't on the ball with respect to delivering a ski to the market with the proper binding location. It's a lack of follow through on the product before it's delivered to the client. All the work done to shape a ski and get the flex right and then get your inserts in the wrong spot is poor execution. Also I've had better luck tweaking the fin than moving bindings around.
  17. I'm not even sure the manufacturers know the binding placement. They them to think stock using their recommmendation is the center hole. I called Connelly and told them I couldn't even install their draft bindings at stock(67" F1 29 1/8). You have to grind the hinge to install the rear screw in the front boot. Also the rear and front binding plates overlap. The Connelly expert was in denial until he tried it himself. O'brien front boot position for a 67.5" at stockwas the forward most hole.  They both agreed that they haven't moved their insert positions back in years.
  18. To the following ski manufacturers-Why can't you get your inserts far enough back. Connelly-Had to grind draft cable attachments just to get to your stock settings on the front boot. Cable ancher partially blocked hole. Both bindings all the way back for stock. Would like my back foot further back, but can't. O'brien SS-Both bindings all the way back for stock. Would like my back foot further back, but can't. MPD- sounds like same story

What bindings are people using on the F1? Draft(If so do you like them), Wiley's. Also does anyone have fin measurements using tips for length.
