  1. After posting on here back in January enquiring about a trip to the USA to look at farming practices and get some skiing in, we flew out on the 10 June from the UK to Minnesota. I never expected to have such an amazing time and meet some great skiers and now friends. I would like to thank everyone who let me ski at their lake which was fantastic and kind of you all. A huge thank you to Dave and Jim Ross (@6balls & Razorskier1) and family and Bob (@cowtipperguy) for looking after us while we were there. Bob and Dave were brilliant, taking time off to show me around the farms/local area and allowing me to ride a Harley and skiing their local "The Swamp". The whole trip was amazing and I look forward to seeing them in the UK in the near future ! (with plenty of gin/pimms ready) Thanks to Horton for BallsofSpray otherwise I would have never met the MN Ballers. Spot the Brit in the Photo ! Andy

    Razor

I'm on a Blue 66 Fischer skiing at 36, probably too heavy but also came off the Elite and my skiing has improved last season was running pretty close to original fischer setting that @Roger posted, but went out the front towards to the end of the season ( a few times). Thought this year try the Razor shortline setting worked great at 34 but stepped it up to 36 and struggling. Binding running Radar vector at 29.25 might try going one hole forward, otherwise back to original setting before my trip over the pond to Minnesota !
  3. I went from the Elite to a blue fischer last year and still got my Elite tried to sell it but no takers yet. Will try again in a month time but don't fancy giving it away though.

  5. If bare bones meant stripped down, lighter, cheaper to buy but I would be more interested if it was cheaper to run then I would consider it at the price of fuel at the moment.
  6. This Bob seems to be a character then... When is a good time of year to come across ? Will price up some flights, is minneapolis worth looking around ?
  7. Looks like I'm going to have to make a few trips across the pond! Thinking of coming across for a week to ten days, only two of us wife and I leaving kids behind !! See as many units as possible and get lots of skiing in meet some new folk and have a good time. How close are you all ? I know andyr is a flight away perhaps leave that for another trip but the rest of you...?
  8. Cheers for all the offers, not so sure about ms offer though ! Want to look at the heifer rearing side mainly to see what you guys are doing over there and if I can apply anything back here on our unit. Is there accommodation near by ?
  9. Hi everyone looking at doing a ski trip to america but want to look at some heifer rearing units while i'm over there. Anyone got any farming connections or suggestions? I know Wisconsin and surrounding states have some big units. Thanks Andy
  10. This was on our gadget show last night.
  11. I'm a rear toe user and I have stuck a insole in the loop, first reason was to raise my foot so I was more level with my front foot as the Radar Rail boot (white one) at the time was way higher. Then the insole helped me keep my heel in the same position each time I skied. I like the idea of Dusty guessing similar to what reflex produce.
  12. The reviews are great ! I was just interested in what your thoughts were if you jumped on to the early test skis, but sounds like you you do. Not sure how you fit it all in though, I struggle testing one ski, never mind the amount you do. Post office has probably got you on speed dial.
  13. After all this skiing you have done, if you were to go back and re test the early skis do you think your opinion would be different on some ?...as you should be skiing better now than the beginning of the season.
  14. Is there any fischer skiers that have tried the Razor and not like it ? Or are they very similar ...I know one skier that was on the fischer and tried the Razor but couldn't get it to work now on a Goode.
  15. Not me either was on the Elite for a season, more consistent than my RS1 but at 14m I was always popping the handle tried a few setting but struggled. 5'10" skiing 58k was a 67 Elite a few people said to big for me but tried a 65.5 was better but one day good second spent a lot of time on the water. Came across a blue 66" fischer consistency way better and half way down 13m. Not sure where I go to next though.
  16. I use a frame from http://www.libertysport.com/default.asp with prescription I think the frame I have is called Hydro comes with a float. Also blind as a bat and always struggled with contacts.

    Elite

Skied again last night on both 65.5 and 67. The 65.5 is killing my back at the moment really grabs out of the turn, where the 67 is more fluid and smooth. Running the binding at 29 going to take it back a hole and see if that helps. As the tail is wider on the 65 I guessing this forces the back of the ski up and tip down ? I'm a rtp skier so probably less pressure on my back foot compared to a double boot so would moving the boot help. Scot not sure how you ran it at 29.5 I think if I tried that I would have no back left and be otf all the time.

    Elite

Thanks Scott will give the 65.5 another go and see how I get on what binding measurement did you have ? You said the 67 seems to be different in what way ? Do you mean that there isn't many people who like the 67 at 36 or suits a particular style of skiing ?

    Elite

I'm on a 67, 5'10" approx 12 stone (161 to 168lb) trying a 65.5 at the moment. Skied well one day on the 65.5 and the next not so good, where the 67 I'm finding it is more forgiving for me. The only reason I was trying the 65 was struggling at 36 at 14 and seems like bigger folk than me are on the smaller ski. (perhaps coaching will just sort me out) The 65 gave me tighter turns but bites at the finish and seems to be less forgiving. 65.5 setting 6.814 .775 2.513 @9deg 67 setting 6.895 .780 2.510 @9deg Looking at the two skis there doesn't seem to be much difference except height but measuring them the 65 tail is a lot wider than the 67...not sure what that means I sure someone can tell me on here.
  20. Currently riding an Elite 67 with the 4 hole stock fin, I remember last year there was a discussion where some skiers were using a 5 hole fin instead of the 4 hole. Is there anyone using a 5 hole fin who could shed some light on the difference as I can't seem to find the discussion? Also why does the Elite have 4 holes where most other skis have 5 holes ?
  21. Thanks for the info, I have skied a few different lakes in SA, usually Thornlea dam which is approx 2hr drive from the in-laws. But they are moving and weren't thinking about there son in-law now a 7 hr drive, very inconsiderant of them and not good with three children under the 4.
  22. Cool ! Do you know of any sites between East London and Port Elizabeth Mad ? Heading there in Feb
  23. I have an Elite with 4 holes in the fin most other skis I have seen have five...Why's this ? Or is this just a stupid question
  24. Thanks Chris,  I will move my binding forward on the RS1 and see what happens.
  25. Reading from what Chris Rossi said above are these top skis being designed more towards the double boots that rtp skiers ?
