  1. I have also the same question... I bought my Rail boot last year, the shop didn't recommend a RS1 with rtp. But just bought a secondhand RS1 boot so tried it out today with insoles and an insole on the rtp. Felt really good and comfortable with great control. The Rail boot I know I release from but I haven't have a fall yet to release from the RS1 but releases fine when taking ski off I think it released better with the insole inside the liner.
  2. Steven, What were the main differences from the RS1 to the Strada ?
  3. I didn't suffer from golfers elbow until I started doing the one handed gate. Over the winter it seemed to disappear. At the begining of the season I started with the two handed gate no pain. I was struggling so went back to the one handed gate, again golfers elbow appeared. I probably guess it is my bad technique but never had the problem before, so probably going back to a two handed gate.
  4. Since John started the Wooden Underground, I have collect a few wooden skis. So far, Lapstrake Ambassadar, Kathro Zidewinder, Reflex Mirage and the latest Taperflex (no.3) and a wakejumper taperflex(no.2). Does anyone know the history of these skis and what other skis they produce, I have been trying to find out but not much luck. I think they are all from the 1970's, the taperflex I know have never been used and were in a shop on the wall. I did email Reflex with no answer ...yet, but I learnt on a Reflex with a white top but i'm sure it wasn't a Mirage.. Andy
  5. eleeski,  Well Sunday I gave the lapstrake a go, bearing in mind I'm no hot shot skier, usually skiing 58k between 16 and 14 and suffering with sore ribs from the week before. I was nervous so 18m 30mph, which to say I think was a bit keen, considering I have never skied on a wooden ski like it before. I only managed 3 green buoys before falling and completely knacked my ribs, so out for the next 6 weeks. But it was great fun, my back foot feels a mile behind my front, and the binding back then..well felt like a couple of elastic bands tied to your foot no problems release out of them that is for sure. Over all the ski felt good, I was very surpirsed as it doesn't have the tunnel but ridges or steps it turned ok, and crossing the wake was alright. My biggest problem was I not use to the lack of binding suport, I felt like I was about to break on me so made me nervous. I think next time, even slower boat speed, though will be next summer now, unless we have a really mild winter. Andy
  6. Got the lapstrake, binding not so good missing the one metal piece to clamp down the front binding, otherwise good condition. Underneath never seen anything like that before. Very different Eric we try and get some pictures up, but home computer down at moment so will be a while. Andy
  7. Found a "lapstrake ambassador " on ebay good condition but I have never heard of it but is it any good ?
  8. John, Is it possible to add a list of wooden skis onto the website ? I'm keeping my eye out for one but not sure what to look for. I guess for 30mph the longer the better ?
  9. Are you shipping to the UK at all ? Are you giving a percentage of your sales to Aidan ?
  10. Looks just like you Jay ! Must be all that cold weather you have !
  11. Thanks MS, would binding # be the same as well ?
  12. MS or anyone Do you have any numbers for a 2005 (blk with red) monza 67 " for 34 mph ?
  13. Is there anyone that has tested the RS-1 with a rtp ? I see that disland also asked the question. My draft boot has just broken again, so I have ordered a rs-1 with rtp. But unsure as most of you seem to be double boot. I have a secondhand reflex boot which I picked up last year so I'm going to be using this until the rs-1 arrives which could be a long time, to reach the UK. I tried the reflex last year but was very nervous and even more nervous now as I don't have a rubber boot to fall back on. John you had a injury from a reflex..? Was this from a double boot system ?
  14. Well had another go tonight, felt better but still not much sucess. So move the draft binding back to the X5 to get some confidence back and make me feel better and not so depressed about my skiing. My third set got rain off plus it was getting dark here by 8pm now. I might give it another go in a few weeks and try that length RS.
  15. Hi RS, I'm left foot forward and measured the length with the tips. The water, well in the UK never that warm ! The one lake I ski at is very deep and slow, the other lake is only probably between 8 to 10 feet deep and quicker. I am not sure how to compare the lakes. But both lakes are quicker than the ones in Florida at Swiss Ski School when I was there. I'm skiing later with the daft binding set back another hole so I will let you know how I get on.
  16. I am on a 67" F1 I came off a D3 X5 66.5" at the end of June begining of July. Since then I have had probably 20 sets on the F1, but I have been struggling. I can't seem to get back to where I was on the X5. I have recently been told to run the binding to 29 1/8 to do this on the Daft binding I have had to file away the lug to get the binding back further, into that last hole. I have yet to try this setting on the binding, but if doesn't work I feel I might be chaning my ski. On the X5 I was running 16 and 14 m and getting 2 and 3 at 13m. On the F1 I have been struggling to get my 16m and only getting 3 or 4 at 14m. Someone told me if you don't get on with the ski within two sets give it up..? Well 20 sets later I am still trying! I find I sometimes come out of 1 buoy and getting pulled up, then to 2 buoy I find I can't turn. Fin setting I am using are : 2.513, 6.736 .770 Any suggestions would be great. Andy
