  1. Talking to Drew Ross last fall and he said the first thing he would tell any skier at any level is to start using a rear toe binding. He said it’s the only way to have proper balance. When I skied with Andy Mapple years ago he made one to fit my foot. After 5 of the ugliest passes ever he laughed and said we should put my rear boot back on! I did eventually switch to the Reflex half boot!

  2. If you are using the Vapor boot

with the reflex release make sure to keep an eye on the two screws that are on the toe piece of the boot. Mine were very loose and it allowed  the boot to flex upward and the toe of the boot was able to come out from under the toe loop of the reflex. Made for an ugly crash. I put some red loctite on those screws and will def keep a closer eye on them in the future!

  3. One of our Cedar Ridge skiers

is heading to Idaho and will be looking for a place to ski!

She is a fantastic young person

and a really good W1 skier.

She has skied at Cedar Ridge since she was old enough to walk and runs into 35 off.

She will be living in Lewiston Id.

and working as an Engineer at the Clearwater Paper Co.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Any ballers find a solution to having vertical play in the toe when using the Reflex release other than wrapping the front loop with tape or getting a machinist to grind the base of it down a few millimeters? I have extra parts so to make sure it's not operator error, I’ve tried moving the heal release forward, 2 different front loops, 2 different plates and 2 different 840 releases and have the same vertical play in every setup.

I lowered the toe bar on mine

by .030 by making shorter collar washers!

  5. After putting my hands on one yesterday and swapping the DC to another ski for a guy, i see issues! The inserts in the ski better be in the exact proper location or problems could exist.

Also the rubber inside the toe piece was peeling away and bunching up inside the toe piece! I am going to take a closer look at the heel clamp as John describes  it may have more clearance for the rear screw on my plate which quite often is in a bad spot.

I may add the heel piece to my existing plate!
