  1. Great news Mark. Glad you are feeling stronger and are able to ski. There is more to life than skiing , but this is what we live for. We ran our very first 35 offs on the same weekend back in 2014. I remember posting about finally running it and you also posted about running it with Jack Travers. Funny how this ski sight makes us care about people we haven't met. Good luck to you on your road to recovery.
  2. You're an animal Jim. You ski more sets than the healthy skiers ever do. Think about you frequently and use your strength to get me through my tough times. Fighting cancer at a much woosier level. Hope to meet you one day. You might have to drop by the BOS headquarters and ski with the Arvin crew. Lots of lakes and places to crash. Keep up the good work !

  3. Give yourself two gifts . The shoulder , and a Goode power vest . I had labrum and rotator cuff surgery a few years back , and gave myself the gift of a power vest . $600 may sound like alot of money compared to other vests , but I couldn't come up with a price tag for not skiing . Heck , I usually lose that much money each time I sell my used skis .
  4. @ColeGiacopuzzi thought you were teasing us with an old Strada video. Looking forward to trying the new ski. This ski is actually making me think more.....Think I'll get one , think I'll get one , think I'll get one .
  5. Thanks for all of the good information . we will be rocking our shorelines this spring . We will be putting down 2.5 " rock on 5 of our 6 shorelines ( Ski West Village ) . The total price will be roughly 40 K including material and tractor work . Adding an extra 5 K for the fabric seems like the way to go . The one price that I got was 11 cents per square foot . After reading through this thread , it seems that the route to take would be to add dirt where we have cliffing , get our grade back , throw down the fabric , then cover with rocks . Any feedback would be greatly appreciated . Our lake is down now , so there are roughly 3 feet of exposed shoreline that will be covered when we bring the level back up .

    Thanks Steve

@Horton , these are Verniers , they pre - dated the dial calipers. Out of habit , people call dial calipers " Verniers " The top numbers are imperial , bottom is metric. You look to see where the zero of the moving jaw ends up , look at how many lines ( each one is .025 ) it is past the number then try to figure out which line is lining up on the scale of the moving jaw. This measurement is .462 , maybe ? Sure glad they invented dial calipers before I started needing them at work.

  8. Dials are fine if the rack gear is not exposed. Verniers are way too hard for us older guys to read. For those who do not know , a vernier measurement is made by seeing which lines line up on the stationary and moving parts of the calipers. Hence the name " very - near " calipers.
  9. A friend of mine is searching for a late model 196. I recomended one with the 6 L engine to him. Don't know too much about them , but people seem to love em. Any down sides to this option ? I've heard better power , better fuel consumption , and closed cooling doesn't require winterizing . What about the wake ? Any difference ? Will not be used for jumping. Thanks
