  1. Waternut,

Reinforcing bad habits usually commences at the beginning of the season. After the few seasons that I have been skiing, I realize that over skiing in the early season tends to be a bad idea for me. Thus: I attempt not to repeatedly do something and learn new shortcuts. Try to ski properly before the lazy sob comes out and the cycle repeats itself.

  2. 1. Unbox ski.

    2. Gawk at ski leaning against office wall for several days.

    3. Remove bindings from old ski and install on new ski.

    4. Ice down beer.

    5. Hook up to boat, pick up ski buddy and head to lake.

    6. Take ski for a test drive.

    7. Decide that 1 set is enough and pull buddy.

    8. Discern that water is too cold to make any adjustments on ski.

    9. You and buddy consume beer and realize that it's just great to be at the lake.

    10. Go home to mad wife after planning next outing.

( In the interval, put out need for fin and binding settings on BOS and hope that MS doesn't respond)

  3. I have heard "all over the board" fin settings and binding placement. water is still too cold to worry about fin adjustments BUT the A-3 seems very sensitive to binding placement. I have heard fin depths from 2.495-2.516. Length varies with depth. Who has tried different settings on the 67" A-3?
  4. I ski behind PP, PP StarGazer, and ZO. It really doesn't make any difference to me. I am just happy to go to the lake. The biggest problem that I encounter is the driver. If I am skiing behind a driver that always skis with long set up's, They don't understand short set up situations. They just nail it and let it settle in. This makes for hairy gate situations. They always say:"this is how we do it where I ski".
  5. I am Ham Wallace. I love the lake. I prefer public water to private sites (except for jumping). I have been skiing for 55 years and competing for 48 years this season. I started skiing the slalom course 50 years ago. My dad made a floating slalom course. I remember the first ever installation in 1963. He invented some new curse words. I actually think that he was ahead of the Accu-float course. Whatever, I skied the course for 3 years behind a large jet boat that would only go 33 mph. When I started competing, we bought a 1966 Ski Nautique from Ralph Meloon. I still have it and it runs quite well. I have had pretty good success through my career and don't plan to cease it yet. I still say, the essence of the sport is it's people. (maybe in the bottom of a beer bottle too), but it is the friends that I have made through the decades that keep me coming back. Not to mention just to haunt Horton, MS and Darwin!
  6. 2 part cleaner. Part A is an acid. Part B is the acid neutralizer. Apply Part A and use a stiff brush to clean the teak. It will turn a beautiful gold. After you have completely cleaned it, rinse and the apply Part B to neutralize the acid. Let dry and very lightly run a sanding pad (foam block) over the platform. (just to take the fuzz off of it).

Make your own teak dressing as follows: 2 parts mineral spirits, 1 part boiled linseed oil, a dash of oil based mahogany stain. Place in a GLASS jar. not plastic. Apply 5 coats to platform. Wear rubber gloves and use a small piece of terry cloth for the application. Not slippery and can be applied often.

  7. Malibu TXI with 6.0 litre, Hard cover for the front playpen, Move the fuel tank to front ski locker, By moving the tank, you would get a huge ski locker in the rear that would hold at least 5 skis and gear up to 70". Cup holders, (lots of cup holders for brewskis after the tows, keys, cell phones and more.) at least 12 cup holders.
