  1. Be interested in some of the photographers opinions on which lens you prefer for in the boat photos.

Think I need to add something of suitable length, but not sure which to choose.

Canon mount, & thoughts were 18-85 or 24-105.

What do most of you use?

    Cheers

    Phil

  2. @rico,

    Level?

Any further information on just how critical this is.

Installed mine where I guessed it would be level at

skiing speed, but never considered checking it with a spirit level while running.

Can you add any more information.

  3. @GregHind,

Current running 8.0.02. Upgraded to that in January this year.

Would be great if you can do something with express posting me an update.

could certainly have it on it's way back to you with a day or 2 & would be happy to

cover Express Post cost on both directions.

    Thanks

    Phil

  4. @GregHind & others,

What is the most current revision?

Was watching our times yesterday & some are very spot on & others

up to .04 hot at the start. I know I can put some of that down to bad setup

but yesterday I was looking for areas of improvement.

Need rain, as our short setup is now a bit shorter due to falling water levels.

  5. @DanE,

Can you clarify what you are saying about Ball 1 & Ball 3 Settings.

When you are saying Buoy 2 & 4, presume you mean the times which should be

4.45 and 9.82? Is that correct?

What I've always presumed were the relevant times for the calibrations has always been

1.77 and 7.13. Wave I been looking at the wrong times all along?

Ours is dialed in pretty well based on the figures I've checked, but would like to know if I have been looking at the wrong two times.

    Can you clear that up.

  6. @Lucas,

You're welcome. Our course is still floating in the dam.

Didn't get to pull it for winter. Even still got the Caravan parked

at the waters edge. Might have to retreive it to-morrow.

Pity you didn't grab a PP system before the dollar took a dive.

I got mine from Skier to Skier in the States & the Z-Box direct from

    Canada.

Only other issue I had, was that the standard cable was a bit long.

Emailed Perfect Pass asking about the price of a shorter cable & a week later

one turn up in the post. Free of charge.

  7. @Lucas, It really was pretty easy in the end, once I got a few of the other

stupid ideas I had in mind out of the way.

And Re keeping the throttle steady.

    It's never seems a problem.

While I might only "think" I am not moving it,

I suppose the truth of the matter is in systems ability to return good times,

usually within 0.01 or 0.02 at each ball.

Don't thing the times would be that good if we were constantly tap dancing on a foot throttle.

Those pics are the very first time out. Have refined a few things since then.

    Will try & update them.

  8. Ok, Here's the original push throttle setup.

This is the Converted setup to be pulling the throttle open & allow Perfect Pass to interact with it.

The Bell Crank was the only part I need to get someone to make up.

It's cut & machined from Aluminium with a bearing pushed into the center.

    The "Proto-type" was timber.

  9. @Lucas, @GregHind

Did this with my PP installation many years back.

Ours is still based on a push to accelerate cable.

Was a slight challenge, but has serviced us well for over 5 years.

Will dig up some pics & post.

Actually glad I made the decision to retain the Foot throttle & not convert to a had throttle.

I think its better at the turns & setup.

  10. Have to agree that driving setup is still important at our lake, particularly as it's relatively short in setup.

After the turn you need to be careful how you come up to speed on the way to the gate.

So now that it has GPS mapped courses, maybe it would make sense to also map the pre-gates, so the system has a bit of an idea how long it's got before it gets there & can be a bit predictive.

Now that I've typed that last paragraph, I realise it's ridiculous, as GPS info could provide that feedback anyway.

  11. Few Times we've free skied we've used the hand time to guess the gates & start the PP Timer.

Haven't done that since the Z-Box upgrade, but presume would only need to turn 1 Ball magnets back on to do it.

Will have to check it out & see if it leaves the course mappings intact.
