  1. Mine jump on my old Trick Ski once or twice a month.

I'd like to see them on it more as I think it does a lot for their

balance & dexterity on the water. Surely that's gotta be beneficial to Slalom.

Also like the fact that it can provide extra on water time with a softer touch on the fuel tank.

  2. @kmenard,

    I've got four. 2 Genuine & 2 Wasabi non-genuine.

All seem good for around an hour or a bit more.

Played a bit with time lapse & managed to get 5 1/2 hours with the 4 batteries, filming video in 4k @ 15 fps.

Be aware that your battery might not be up to full capacity until you've cycled it a few times.

Check out those othe batteries & the charger that comes with them.

  3. @dave_n,

Wondering if he is still slightly too small for the ski he is on.

He was on a 62"?? Revolt last season & some aspects of his form were more techinically correct.

Given that he's now on a 65" ski & weighs 50kg (110lb), do you think he would benefit from moving the binders back one hole?

Few more bits of footage on my YouTube Channel.

    Cheers.

  4. @igkya,

Plenty of examples of the pipe on the rope type mountings out there, particularly if you google "Gopro wakeboard rope mount".

Main thing is that the pipe they use is generally attached to the handle so the camera stays parallel with the handle.

For Slalom footage, keeping the camera more in line with the horizon would be a bit more desirable.

That's the main challenge I was considering.

  5. Been thinking on this a bit & haven't come up with a solution yet.

Wondering if anyone would like to offer any input.

The wake boarders out there are fitting lengths of poly pipe over their ropes, spliting it at the end & attaching it to the yolks of their handles so the camera always stays parallel to the handle.

Works pretty well for them, but for slaloming it would be better if it stayed level with the horizon.

so basically the pipe idea would need to be able to move & be counterweighted etc.

How would the lateral thinkers out there approach this?

Found this, Interesting, but not really working properly.

    Cheers

  6. Never ceases to amaze me, how so many of the potential crew members we meet

consider $5 or $10 to be a quite generous offering if anything.

Quite often it's 3 or 4 laps of they lake for some children & these people quite often consider that

hardly worth offering money for, al if it's like a 10 minute vehicle trip across town in terms of fuel usage.

Was interesting attending the local show a few weeks back; my boys & I had about 4 or 5 rides in sideshow alley. $200.00 gone in the space of a couple of hours; longest ride was about 3 1/2 minutes.

Put an interesting perspective on those who would like you to always take little Johnny for "Just a couple of quick runs", .....For free.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a super tight arse, but I just can't understand how some of the potential ski partners out there can't see the absolute value in even just offering up for fuel costs plus a bit.

  7. On a slight tangent,

I was looking at a few bits of our footage on the weekend, in both Media Player & VLC, pausing & stepping back & forward etc & it got me thinking back to my old Mitsubishi VHS video recorder that had a jog & shuttle wheel on the remote. Was great the way you could control the playback/frame stepping rate just by spinning the wheel.

Thought, Gee I miss that type of control & wondered whats about that aids in control of slow-mo, & frame by frame playback in the world of AVI files & media player software.

Any one know anything? Could imagine that the mouse outputs could be used for some form of playback control or even the scroll wheel.

Could be either a feature in a player or an add-in/Plug-in.

    Cheers

  8. Thanks @dave_n,

    Looks like a great article.

    @kmenard,

Had a floaty door on the camera & also another block of floatation tethered with zip ties to

the suction cup. Enough bouyancy to float the loy of it all came adrift, which is a real possibility on that ski as it has a textured top deck & the suction cup did leak a bit when we first tested it on dry land. In the water it turned out fine & didn't release once.

Only got one pair of sticky mounts at this point & 2 kids to fight over them. Will probably try that down the track.

Still think above the rope at the handle join would be a good place for this thing, but haven't figured exactly how to do that yet.

  9. Bit more from last weekend. Stuck to the front of the ski this time.

Would be interested to hear some constructive comment on his skiing

even thought this might not be the best viewpoint to be looking at it from.

Seems to be stuck in a bit of a groove ATM & marking time.

    Cheers
