  2. Rod was yours the Red/Black one on Ebay & else where? I thought about upgrading to yours but thought the color scheme looked great but difficult to maintain and bloody HOT in the Summer sun. Gregy you're right about changing the sharft seals but not bad to adjust. No room though for the dripless seal with the water cooling...... Never had to mess with the replacement. Boat is only in the water for an hour or two. It doesn't drip enough to matter. One great feature is that the prop & rudder are about a foot or slightly more further forward which is why the boat leaps out of the water so quickly - end plate effect - safer too.

  4. I have had one for 6 years - and it is every bit mechanically as good as any of the big 3. The interior is not as plush. The idea of the Hexcel composite panels for the removable floor boards was by far the worst feature but not a big deal to fix. The mechanical parts are PCM engine w/ ZF V- drive. The Steering is teleflex, engine controls are Morse and so it goes. The same as everybody else uses. The fuel tank in fron of the pylon is a good feature - Why they put the battery in the ass-end? Rather than behind the observers seat is mystery. The notch for the walk thru is great for keep the rope headed to the fallen skier ans you circle them to pick them up and great for prevent the rope from geting caught somewhere else at startup. I think it was just a simple case of bad timing - a GREAT Slalom boat when the market was moving to Wake Board boats.................. I love mine.

  11. BRY - If live2ski doesn't bite? I have been thinking about a Goode WR or a mid LFF - I am about your size but old - geezer in fact......... Just switched to both feet in to start for short lake set ups and have a problem for a split second -sometimes of putting too much weight on my front foot too soon out of old habit - ski dives and it's o v e r. So, I was thinking about the Goodes or 68" D-3 Z-7 or the O'Brien quattro (if they had hung in there). Anyway, if it doesn't sell shoot me some pictures and a price. Otisg at optimumdotnet

  13. To test your brakes effectiveness - Disconnect the wire harness (or just the Blue Wire) from your tow vehicle - then try reverse. If you move easily, there is a problem. If so, first check your Brake fluid level. If they are FTP read their manual - you can move fluid at the hitch end and then add some to the reservoir. This may solve the problem if they are just squishy. If you do have to bleed them? NAPA has a magnetic bottle & tube that makes the process fast and easy - even if doing the job alone. BTW - FTP make Stainless Steel disk brakes that are great particularly if you have to put your boat in saltwater............

The key to coiling braided lines and ropes is feel any twist with each coil (take a comfortable length with each coil) - take the left or right twist out just as the line hits your palm - make sure it lays flat - no kinks - keep a firm grip on it. Then lay it flat, as RB says, on a seat or the engine cover works well (tends to get stepped on if left on the floor or worse) so that the rope coil un-spools from the top. After a while you'll develope a feel for it and the rope tends to get a memory. Learned this from racing sailboats - where the line has to fun freely through a block or it can be a real C.F. and a lost race.

  16. Mr. Jackson, Thanks for the thread. I have had a similar problems but I am 63 - 215-220 #'s and skiing on a 67" green Sixam - love the ski once I am up. Last summer I switched from an RTP to rear boot for short ski lake conditions (miss the rear kick-in and your run in the course is over.) I was wondering if anyone has skied the O'Brien Quatro? I was thinking that the large shovel would make for an easier up - while not sacrificing performance after the pull-up @ 34 mph. Does anybody have any experience with the ski and am I correct in my thinking? Toddl has it exactly right on the boat driving - particularly with bigger guys - the inclination is to really HIT- IT! - wrong approach the dynamic pressure is way too much for even the stongest grip or back. Thanks.

I haven't read his book lately but I am sure there is still a great deal of useful information in there...  despite the great changes brought about by the "shaped" skis in snow skiing and the huge advances in the science of materials which have vastly helped to change both sports. I was absent from waterskiing for about thirty or so years, so I am not quite sure how the change in soft H20- Slalom technique from stiff legged through the wakes evolved to knees bent ? may have evolved from snow skiing -seems logical to me but I don't know. But it seems to be a "no brainer" that by using one’s quads & biceps is going to give one much better acceleration across course than biceps and stiff-legged leveraging. The one thing that you can get away with in soft water slalom skiing that would cause you to never finish a single run of snow slalom skiing (particularly with the tiny skis & the way that courses are set) is "counter-rotating" the turn. It took too much time to wind up in one direction in and then unwind to the other direction and was obsolete in my day - can't even imagine it now. But it seems to work fairly well in soft water skiing where the course is exactly repetitive and predictable. Warren's book is worth a look.........
  19. I hadn't heard aboutthat before.. buy I use a Concept 2 rowing machine for 2,000 meters/day. I would think that that would be great ff and on season condidtioning for the condition you describe. I hope that helps. It certainly does wonders for my back and stomach.

  22. I have been using Reflex with Intuition custom  liners for a few years. I used a real thin stocking when I did the custom fiting and have continued using the stocking..... Foot goes in just like in alpine skiing, even when wet.
  23. A good boat driver can make all the difference, particularly for a big guy. Start slow and steady on the throttle until the skier's head starts to be seen  above the tip spray- Then you can throttle the rest of the way until the PP or ZO engages. The tendancy is to hit it too hard for bigger guys - the hands and forearms can't take the dynamic load.
  24. Last time I checked 75' less 15' = 60' . Does 30' off count if it was in 1967?
  25. Horton - I am with you. I have an Infinity and I love mine. Too bad they're gone. Looks like SVFara has stopped making the One. There are still a few around with low hours ....cheap.
