  1. they run considerably smaller than most, possibly with the exception of eagle...but you might try an XL to start; I have a 44" and wear an XXL good luck- pullovers might differ somewhat- check on that first
  2. agree as to your last statement -but- I had thought adding wing brings the tail down and tip up vs. decreasing wing lets the tail up/tip down? I just know what I did works!
  3. cool- I've been trying to explain the difference between perception/sensation vs. actuality to a lot of people and just get shaking heads...too much "perception is reality" stuff when I ski into the wind I feel like things slow down a bit but at some point it makes me narrow; conversely skiing with the wind makes me feel fast but I tend to pull too long golf at 55
  4. thanks ktm- appreciate the feedback and clearly understand the thought process  I'm a master of overthinking anyhow and now love to try something counter intuitive since as an architect I go by intuition a lot simply going around the orange ones has never (will never) be my outlook- very much enjoy the science of things and love to be a student of anything took enough physics classes to know that the premise of Paul's article is dead on - it's just what you do with it can be very subjective... "mistakes are portals of discovery" (JJ)
  5. might be reading his theory a bit wrong but if "fast" water is really "slow" water and the sensation of fast is due to lack of course course speed, it suddenly occurred to me that reducing wing would conversely give me back a bit of speed... turning the ski is certainly no issue
  6. after reading Paul Jager's article of fluid dynamics for years now I finally tried something counter intuitive hoping to at least try something instead of doing the same thing year after year- our water has been cooling down rapidly and seems to be under 65 at the moment- last week the natural "fast water" syndrome became readily apparent and it seemed that no matter how hard I tried (pulling) I just couldn't keep up and get cross course like in warmer conditions. I reduced my wing from 8 to 7 degrees and voila, it almost felt like I was back in warm water again. This is just the opposite of what I've done for the past 8 years and I'm so glad to have tried.  Is this power of suggestion stuff or does this make sense in light of Paul's theory?  thanks-
  7. just try to look at the back of the boat when you're in your turn- the binimi top if it has one- keeping your eyes up helps keep your posture and let's your ski cast out easier/better;
  8. my A-1 has flex numbers that are about 5% stiffer than optimum (fwiw) so the 105 still felt okay but a 106 probably would be better it did feel pretty sweet when the water turned warm a few weeks ago- the 32's starting coming better now of course the water has cooled off considerably as have my sets
  9. yep- nicked my factory stock fin and the only spare I had was a 105 redim (I think) left over from my monza (which didn't need it)- dropped it in my A1 and it seems to have somewhat softened it's onside turn try it
  10. looks like that baby will grab and turn- no pressure releasing holes along the bottom or trailing edge except for one at the rear... no thanks- I still love my JH 105...drilled a hole at the rear and run the wing back
  11. Actually for "hammer" curls the main thing one should use these for are pronation and supination...don't go forward with the hammer but go side to side...like turning a doorknob- slowly and in control and do the full 180 deg. if not more; 3 sets of min. 30 will help all forearm and bicep tendons this also gives a really good stretch...you can also do the hammer curls/twists by stretching your arm out straight to the side of your body and do them...this really emphasizes everything good stuff
  12. Little bit of truth to all of this- I got golfer's elbow back in '04, went on some anti-inflammatories and switched to a curved handle- problem solved. However, last year after recooperating from bicep tendon surgery I switched grips to a right hand over position to take the stress off of my right repaired arm...no problems. This year my left elbow, the one that now has the palm up position has golfers elbow- tried the same meds but they didn't do much and then I learned that ai's only mask the pain and reduce the body's ability to heal itself (inflammation is actually the body's initial healing process) so I've lowered my sets, always have a day off, and ice, ice baby. It's still there but much more manageable...it does feel a bit painful if I do 2 setters but at least I'm still skiing. enjoy ice also works best not only on the elbow but in apres ski cocktails!
  13. what didn't you like about it? what level skiing are you at? and what is your normal/current stick? thanks love my a1
  14. chatter, offside more tip
  15. this is frickin hilarious... thanks so gd much for the laugh this morning, I needed it. I should have done/thought the same thing when I drove around NE playing tennis tournaments.
  16. I agree completely with JH- last year I struggled with dealing with ZO; this year seems to be no better... give me back PP
  17. Sold- I love 'em to death and have had not one problem related to them in the past 4 years- just sold them since I got a pair of '09 versions to replace them. super ankle support for my weak, flat puppies...so much better than animals (for me); I would be on hardshells if I trusted them but I've seen too many ankle injuries related to releases...for my approach, I just stay in and rid out the storm.
  18. For sale: A nice pair of '06 HO Approach boots, LFF, size XL . $175 OBO skiron07 at comcast.net
  19. John- fwiw, you really need to try a St. Bernardous ABT12 belgium trappiest beer- but seriously, I agree with your premise- comparing skis is like comparing children...it should really never be done. pointing out strengths, weaknesses and tendencies is however as should typology vs. skier profiles. thanks for keeping up the fight ron in ct
