  1. Most of the record tournament I have attended recently are both E and L. Most of the skiers ski in E. Only those actually wanting/needing L scores actually ski L. That could be the difference.
  2. Cypress Texas (same as last year) June 30/July 1. I have heard this will be the only US Qualifier.
  3. Boat is in for service this week otherwise I would be happy to give you a pull at Lakes of Katy.
  4. Not sure you can call anything "Indian" anymore in our PC society!!
  5. how about - "whoops, I forgot to take out the orange loop for the switch" - back in the PP days.
  6. Well, now that you are paying - who would you like to see from the SCR?
  7. What camera/settings/editing software were used for this video?
  8. The Kodak Playsport Zx3 is another option and its waterproof to 10 feet.
  9. The application for the World Record has all the information they deem necessary. If the application doesn't ask about the shock tube, it shouldn't matter.
  10. Daryn, Krista and Tadd will be here to handle the Tweeting and BallOfScores. I could use your help with video cameras for the webcast.
  11. I skied with Brooks Thursday morning - courtesy of the BallofSrpay/WilsonBros Big Spray Photo contest. Brooks is a great coach and a super nice guy. The big lake took some getting used to, coming from the man-made lakes around Houston, but skied well for being so wide open. Was hoping to stick around until John arrived, but had to catch an earlier flight back to Houston to get ready for the upcoming Katy Ski Jam.
  12. 6balls, just sent you a message thru the system.
  13. Each was allegedly infringing on the other's patents.
  14. Shane, there's room - just use the online registration
  15. I use online registration so it does make the process a little easier, but here are my stats for this weekend's tournament 5 months early - 1 registration 1 month early - 2 2 weeks early - 11 1 week early - 5 Week of tourney - 9 Total 28 Fortunately, this is in the range we have come to expect so planning isn't difficult and we wait until mid-week to start buying food, etc anyway. Somehow, JD has figured it out. He throws a couple of great tournaments every year and has a full entry list at least 1 month in advance. What's your secret?
  16. Ok, I donated to the cause. Didn't help my chances by increasing the average by 2 buoys the last weekend in August.
  17. My Remington Model 870 works well.
  18. The stock bindings are screwed directly to the ski without a binding plate. Moving the bindings or adding new bindings with a plate is going to require new screw holes.
  19. In the system you can select rankings for 1) the previous 12 months or 2) a specific ski year. For the ski year rankings, those are from nationals to nationals. The previous 12 months scores look back over the last 12 months and scores roll off the system weekly. For nationals qualification, the cut-off is 3 weeks before nationals and uses the previous 12 months scores on that date. So, for 2012 Nationals qualification, scores from approximately Mid-July 2011 thru Mid-July 2012 will count for the ranking list. If you don't qualify that way, there are last chance qualifiers by beating the cutoff score in a record tournament during the 3 week period between the cutoff date and the start of nationals. Hope this helps.
  20. The O'Brien Jr. Vortex is a great slalom ski for kids just starting out. One of my ski partners replaced the flimsy bindings with small HO double boots and a real fin for his kid. He can get into a 23 mph slalom pass on it.
  21. Regional qualification depends on the region. Each region sets their own rules on how to qualify. For example, in the SCR, level 5 is the general qualification, but you can also qualify by placing in the top 5 in your state championship tournament. Also, the exact cut-off buoy count/ranking for qualification isn't known until 3 weeks prior to the regional/national tournament (its based on the top so many percent of all skiers in that class). You can get an idea where it will be by looking at prior year ranking lists (i.e. 2011 Season, etc).
  22. I thought that might be the case. Stop by anytime.
