  1. I almost never see 1.77 on a Nautique. I sometimes see 1.77 with a MC however. Software is different, so???? Haven't driven a Malibu yet this year. Will probably drive one ('09)at a tournament this weekend.ÂÂ
  2. I think there are good reasons for going with the "ease in" throttle method. (Just as long as the additional "one inch" is applied after engagement.) If the full throttle method is applied there will be an inevitable and perceptable "settling in" that the skier will feel. If it's during the pull out or glide it will be a problem for him/her.ÂÂ
  3. Horton, did you ever get stickers made up? How can I get some?
  4. Has anyone got their hands on Rev Q yet? A blurb on Schnitz's site says that it has been approved for use this season, but it won't be available to the general public until after all the mfgs have their requirements met. Anyone with info?
  5. In response to Ken's comments, I find it unconscionable that a tournament driver would give a "less than his/her best" due to the skier's perceived abilities. As a senior driver (not claiming to be the best one out there) every pass that I drive, tournament or practice, I strive to do the best that I can. I also constantly seek input from observers and skiers to try to improve. As far as comments go on driving, quite often I find that the things that a driver does outside the course is a detriment to my skiing. Pull up, rounding turn islands, dropping after a pass -- some are just bad. Call me a head case, but some of it sticks with me while in the pass. If the driver is bad outside the course, what can you expect once you get in? ÂÂ
  6. ikb,  Based on the area that you described, you don't need a lot of wattage. We have used a Pyramid PA-305 for 6-8 years now with good success. As someone else asked, what do you want to do? Just announce or play music, or both. That may determine the speakers needed. The PA-305 is switchable from 4 - 8 - 16 ohms impedence or 70 volt. If you need your speakers to be a long distance from your mic/PA you may need to go with the 70 volt output to paging horns. Paging horns don't provide very good music quality however, cost about $35 each. It is 100 watts with 4 mic inputs + phono/cd input. Cost about $150. Just Google it and there are several suppliers.ÂÂ
  7. Horton,  I admit that I know very little about Google Earth. Why are some of the images so much cleaner than others? I can only assume the the satellite images were extracted from different sources, elevations, with different equipment, etc. Right?
  8. I'm hoping my ski can come out of the closet next spring and live the live it was meant to!!/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif TW, Can I get some specs for that steam roller adjustment? Just may be the ticket for a reduced price WR!!ÂÂ
  9. Unfortunately ski season is over where I live. After many years of skiing, this year I'm wondering how one should store a ski over winter. I guess I'm thinking more about it since the newer skis may be less durable that older skis. It will be in a temperature controlled area, but positionally --store -- on it's tail, flat rightside up, bottom up, edge??
  10. Yeah, ask some women who have had a kidney stone and a baby and get them to compare. K-stones are pretty bad.
  11. I haven't seen anyone comment on Fogmans (except for one kinda offhand comment on many failures) Are any of you guys on Fogmans? I'm using a hybrid version. Fogman release plate w/ Malibu GT in-line skate boots. The Diablo boots/liners just didn't work for me. Too responsive for someone who is not as still on the ski as I should be.
  12. I agree with Horton (don't we all sometimes) in what I think he just said. A 66" or 67" or whatever in a given make/model may not perform the same. I guess what I'm saying is length may change the characteristics more than just the inch or so length difference. Sometimes a lot of the r&d is done on a given length and then they just make them longer or shorter.
  13. It appears that you've had opportunities to try several skis. It's not so easy for anyone to get everything that's out there. I do seem to see on posts here and on TWSF about guys trying everything on the market. I don't know how they're doing w/o a lot of investment in demo fees and shipping. I still believe that there is a ski, properly set up, that will best suit an individual, but finding it.......................
  14. Horton, does this experimental version still insist on getting a 16.95 even though it may have a 1.79 at the 1 or a 7.16 at the 3? I would hope that a software tweak would let it not try to make up time, just keep the same deviation. On the Holley secondaries -- as my memory serves me the secondaries are vacuum operated. The mechanical linkage only ALLOWING opening at some point. Your best bet is to disconnect the vacuum pot (driver's side of engine) and then block movement of the vertical arm. Or.....mechanically force them to open sooner to avoid the surge at the inappropriate time.
  15. Back to Horton's second post in this thread...................ZO software is boat brand specific. No surprise to most of you I suppose. But different is different. Don't know what the nuances are.
  16. No longer for sale.......decided to keep it!
  17. What size RCX would best suit my wt/ability? I'm 160, go 32 @ 34 and a few a 35 most of the time. Best of 5 @ 35. 66" or 67"?
  18. Wind huh? I watched Tynan run 39.5 in an unbelievable tail wind a couple of weeks ago.
  19. I e-mailed you a couple of days ago for info. I'll try again--maybe I messed up the address. Didn't get a rejection though.
  20. About the promised update about speed at the gate for another SN, well I didn't drive it in either of the tournaments the last two weekends. (Malibu one weekend and MC the next. I've been using C in practice with the SN and not knowing what else to do, C behind the MC. Skied the MC last two tournaments and can't really sense a difference BT the MC and the SN. I'm not that much of a skier though (mid 32off). Whether ZO or what, I am down about 4-5 buoys this year. Seems to be same scores even with PP 6.5ng in practice or ZO in practice. Just been thinking it's old age.
  21. If I read you right, you're skiing better now. The problem is not that you're missing passes you used to run. For me, if I can't hold on or get the handle in it usually is due to loss of speed. I get too slow and obviously the boat doesn't slow down for me....the line gets tight before I can get my hips to the handle.  Take note of your ski speed.
  22. If you choose to go with a belt...Sheik is a pretty good belt.
  23. You may want to think about ski speed. If the ski gets too slow, the boat will run away from you and you're left with your arms out and can't get your hips up.
  24. Forgot to mention that I am looking at the ZO digital speedo.
  25. Roger, '08 SN 196. I don't understand why our boat is at 34.7 at the gate. Everyone else on this and other forums seem to be getting 34.3-4  We have a tournament this weekend. I'll check the promo '08 SN and see what it does.ÂÂÂ
