  1. I will go back to Zion someday. I wanted to continue to Scout Lookout but I was running out of daylight and I had already hiked about 10 miles that day. Angels is certainly a bit intimidating at some points but overall it is not that bad. That being said, I feel that you need to be confident with it and should not push yourself if not comfortable. When I was hiking back, I ran into someone about 5 minutes into the hike out to Angels. He stated that he was turning back and couldn't do it. I encouraged him to turn around if he was already feeling that that because he had not yet reached some of the "hairy" points. If you take your time with Angels and concentrate during the entire hike, you will be fine.
  2. Guys, thanks for the tips on the trip. We did end up going to Zion. What an amazing place. So happy to have spent some time there. For those of you that have been, you probably know about Angels Landing. I ended up doing that hike. Wow, a bit crazy. Here is a little GoPro footage from the final 5 or so minute of my hike up Angels.
  3. So happy that my motherland won. The Canadian team took a defense first approach and Carey Price played a great tournament. A complete, solid effort!
  4. Living in the north, have to find things to do. Here is what has been occupying my time and benefitting my kids. First year that I have ever made a rink. Glad that I did it and sorry that I did not do it sooner. Priceless watching them skate and skating with them.
  5. So long as you are not releasing when you should not be and the horseshoe is staying in place, you should have no issues.
  6. Chef, they are normally riveted in. In my experience I drilled out the rivets and had to re-rivet the block on.
  7. Zion certainly sounds great. We would be going in early to mid March. It sounds like winter weather can still be an issue around that time. Any thoughts on this?
  8. Matt, I think that I have one. If you are still looking for one, let me know and I will check in the garage.
  9. Wayne, thanks for the info. I'm not quite sure what we will do. Certainly going to hit the "usual" spots; grand canyon and the Hoover dam for sure. Beyond that it's up in the air. The mines sound interesting, will have to learn a little more about that. I think the trip is going to be a mix of a lot of different things.
  10. 1. Keep the weight off that I lost. 2. Run 38 (just 2 more balls to go). 3. To be more patient.
  11. Hey Ballers, considering doing a family trip in the Southwest this March. Concept would be to fly into Phoenix, rent and RV and hit the road for a week or two. I'm not very familiar with that part of the US, so suggestions of sites and things to do would be appreciated. In theory the trip would have to end where it started to return the RV, though I have seen that some do allow you to return the RV to a different location. Thanks in advance!
  12. The creator of the video had mentioned that it could not be watched on phone and/or tablets. Not sure why? I have had not issues at all watching it on my computer. Spent a fair amount of time at Coble's this past season. Nothing but great things to say about the staff and students at Coble's over the years. A great place that I will continue to spend time at every season for as long as I can imagine.
  13. Never have skied in a tournament, so can't improve on that one. Getting closer to my goal of running 38 off. Ran 4 @ 38 a couple of times during my last week of the season, an improvement of 1 buoy. Finally have started running 35 off with some consistency. Overall, it was great season, already looking forward to next year!
  14. @Waternut, 5 - 6 hours drive is completely worth it to attend a good ski school. I can only speak for Coble's, completely great place and great people. I have learned a ton there over the years and continue to go back 2 - 3 times a season. My wife and I will be there the last week of the season. If you have any questions specific to Coble's, I would be happy to answer them for you.
  15. I have used Fluid Motion, Powershells and have been on Reflex for the last 5 or so seasons. One feature that I really like about the Reflex is that when you release, it is just the boot and not a boot with a large plate attached to it. Both my FM and Powershell had a plate attached to the boot and it would sometime dig up my shin or hit the water hard. I did have the release for 2 different 404 releases break on me this season, one on my slalom ski and one on my trick. Neither of the showed any signs of wear. It is my understanding that this has been an issue with the 404 model. Other than this I have not had any issues and absolutely love my Reflex with RTP setup.
  16. I have never used them but I do have a friend that has used them for several years. They have worked very well for him and he has not had any issues that I am aware of.
  17. I have been testing out using an EZ Cam mount but have run into a few problems with the video vibrating too much. My prop is good and my boat does not have an abnormal vibrations that I am aware of. Anyways first tested recording video with a Sony Handycam HDR-PJ380. It's a small, light camera that records to internal memory or SD card. The video recorded from this is almost unbearable to watch because there is so much vibration in it. Tested recording tonight with an older Canon Optura 20 tonight and the video was quite good, all things considered. The Canon is larger and does weigh more than the Sony. Does anyone have any experience with an EZ Cam mount and if so what type of camera has worked for you. I'm looking for more "traditional" cameras here and not GoPros or cell phones
  18. Andrew- looks like you are making some nice progress since I was able to watch you ski last fall. Keep working hard and pushing yourself. Attack those wakes! Keep up the good work!
  19. Hola- Considering the purchase of either a Ski Doc or EZ Cam pylon camera mount. Watched the videos, read a lot online but still not sure which one would be the better choice. There is a cost difference but that will not be my determining factor. I really want the product that will produce the best video in that type of application. Anyone have experience with either? Both? Thanks in advance! Mike
  20. Andrew - what are you using to film with? Something mounted to the pylon?
  21. Owner/operator of a roof and floor truss manufacturing company.
  22. I have never charged anything when someone skis at my lake. I do have some friends that we switch weekends/lakes with, so in the end it tends to all even out.
  23. The image of Coble's on Google Earth has quite a few boats in it.
  24. Central Maine area, always happy to share the boat with other water skiing enthusiasts.
  25. @skoot1123, I will more likely be at Coble's in mid to late May, around 4th of July and the last week of the season that they are open.
