  1. Thanks for posting this article. This was all news to me.
  2. As a LFF skier I'm very envious of his gate.
  3. I thought the HO S-2 felt very similar to the Strada.
  4. I prefer the Assault Hybrid. Have had for 2 winters. Used Bare and Sahara in the past. IMO the Assault is the best of the three. Little drag and roomy top to layer underneath. We ski thru the winter here in SC with the water temps in mid to low 50's and it works great.
  5. My boat is a 2000 Ski Nautique and had a 4-blade OJ prop. I tested the the 3-blade acme and 4-blade acme. My goal was to lower my overall rpms. The 3-blade had a better holeshot than both 4-blades. But the trade off was hull noise/vibration. The acme 4-blade was smooth as silk and lowered my rpm @ 34mph by 200 rpm.
  6. After further testing and talking with PP I went ahead and inverted the rpm signal. GPS Mode (no skier) is all very tight times. After running 6 good passes/times I went back to standard on rpm signal and times were all over the place. I don't understand it but inverting the signal looks to have fixed it, despite passing both test that PP recommends to determine setting. Thanks for all the advice.
  7. Thanks Gary for the info. My motor is 275 hp. I did have the crew weight set higher than actual (by 185#). I did not think that was supposed to matter that much with gps. When you mention multi-magnet mode do you mean all-buoy timing or magnets at both gates and 3 ball? I did try setting Kx n to Kx + and did not help.
  8. Just installed Stargazer on my 2000 Ski Nautique with 5.0L Throttle body. System calibrates ok but with a skier behind the boat it's as if the system is not responsive enough. When skier is pulled out of water the system overshoot 34 up to 36, boat then slows back to 34 or less just in time for skier to pull the boat down through the gates, then after 2 ball the system tries to make up all the time without regard to speed. I did call Perfect Pass and there answer to put another spring on the throttle lever to give more tension. Anyone else with this problem? Any help appreciated. Keith
  9. Clip is in the YouTube Videos 3 thread.
  10. Does anyone know who the left-foot fwd skier is at 1:10 into video?
  11. For threads that have multiple pages, it would be nice have a way to skip to 'next' page at the top of the thread instead of having to scroll all the way down to bottom of page to click to a subsequent page. Likewise, would there be a way to put a 'Top of Page' button at the bottom of each page of comments instead of having to scroll back up.
  12. Also, it's very easy just to loosen 6 screws and put your bindings plate (with bindings) on another ski. It's very adaptable and convenient to trying new skies.
  13. Already given ski back to the owner, but I will recommend those settings to him. Thanks, Keith
  14. Ed, Thanks for the recommendation. But at this point I'm not ready to part with my Strada. After one (long) set on the S-2 I agree with Ed's assessment. Very fun ski to ride b/c of forgiving/stable nature - nice speed behind the boat and very easy to turn. Too easy for me as I also felt like it wanted to dump me in the turns (esp on the off-side) but was manageable. I felt comfortable on it immediately. I've been on the Strada for a year and both have a similar forgiving nature. The big difference I felt after one set is that Strada carries speed through the turn better. But that could be a result of the S-2 tendency to overturn and bite. As Ed said that is probably just a fin adjustment. Still not quite sure the purpose of the cross cut bevels on the bottom of ski. I couldn't feel any difference. Must be a marketing tool. Fin Setting: 2.50 Dpth 6.845 Length (Tips) .78 Dft 9 degrees
  15. Just got my hands on an S-2 (66.5"). Anyone have any good baseline settings?
  16. The video of Jeff Rodgers, linked on the home page a few days ago, gives a great example of what it means to be too early. He makes reference to it in the commentary. As the rope gets shorter the less time you have to 'hang' out beside the boat waiting on the ball. For me, learning 38 has been more about getting off my pull than the pull itself. I've been surprised at how little it takes to get out to the buoy line. Excess speed into the ball kills my turn and then my pull into the next ball. I either try to kill the speed in the turn (which results in overturning the ski) or ski long down course (which sets me up late into the next ball). 38 has been a lesson in energy management. If i can get the angle w/o the excess speed thru the gates, then i've got a good shot at running the pass. I think this is what I see/hear Nate Smith doing.
  17. I've got a 2000 also and have had similar problem. I finally figured out it was due to moisture in the 'sealed' keypad itself, as it would only do it after a rain. The recessed dash pocket that the keypad sits in was the culprit. It holds water. I pulled the keypad out, dried it out, then sealed the whole pad with silicone. I also drilled some drain holes in the dash so the pocket would drain. I haven't had a problem since.
  18. We've had a Wally Sinker for about 5 years and would highly recommend as it has worked well. Ours gets frequent use - as much as 4x/week in summer or as little as 1x/month in Jan/Feb. Most of our 'problems' seem to come from lack of use -ie winter. It does require routine maintenance. Maintaining air pressure in balls, scrubbing balls and the occasional air bladder replacement or diving for a sand bag. Located in South Carolina our course is in about 10 -20 feet of water so we don't 'tangle' the sand bags as advertised on website. It rest on the bottom when sunk. It's great for locales where you can't have a permanent course. When we aren't skiing the course isn't there.
  19. Sorry didn't read the open bow requirement. Not sure the Prostar 190 meets that.
  20. Second the 97-00 Ski Nautique. For Mid 90's I think the '94ish MasterCraft Prostar 190 is hard to beat for a slalom boat.
  21. I've been on the Strada for almost a year (started with 66" and ended up with 65"). I'm 160# and 5'10". I don't think you can go wrong with it. It's the most forgiving ski I've been on and it's very fast behind the boat. I haven't been OTF on it and i have a tendency to get alittle too forward on my off-side sometimes. Nicest feature for me is the way it carries speed through the finish of the turn. It's allowed me to maintain a better body position in the turns. Highly recommend.
