Hi. Thanks for the replies. I *think* I like the new boot location and am playing with it for now. I also have a WF and haven't adjusted it. I'm just trying to understand what a binding move should do.

Question about binding position: After a record breaking trick set (PB now 60 points), I inadvertently moved my binding up one notch. It felt really strange. In fact, I was very surprised at how weird it felt. I've decided to stick with it for a while and have put about 5 sets on with the new position. I feel like I'm getting more of a carving turn. I've been running some decent 32's. I'm imagining I'm having an easier time getting up over my ski into the preturn. Is this in my head? What should one expect when moving the bindings forward? I'm on a 67" Radar Vapor, 55k and my style is east/west/south/north coast in random order or "chiropractor bait".

I vividly remember the first time I ran 55k and 18.25m. I was so excited, I immediatly shorted to 16m (22' off), for my first time ever. I felt like a real skier. Man, did 22' off seem impossible then. I remember laughing as I got massive slack at 1 ball. How could anyone run this? Now 16m is my opener. @Keith_Menard and will soon be yours too. All it takes is convicing your brain that you really don't have to pull that long. 90% of slalom is getting a good pull right behind the boat. Any Canadian suggestions for data only cell provider? I found luckymobile.ca. They have a 750mb plan for $15/month using the Bell network. It is limited to 3G speeds but believe Sure-Path does not need a lot of bandwidth. Has anyone tried this?

There seems to be pretty wide coverage of Southern Ontario with RTK networks. It's not clear to me if these systems are passive (like GPS), create your own (Sure-path) or sign up for a service (like LTE). There is one that's about 6km (3.7 miles) from our lake. (FYI, 10k = 6 miles)

Thanks for the replies. Technical question: I ski on a lake with three shared courses. Can one ground station be setup and then anyone who wants to use it install a receiver and cell phone in their boat?

A few questions came up recently about Sure-Path or SkiPath. We are trying to decide if we should get the system for the upcoming season or hold off a bit. I haven't had a chance to see it in action. I have heard that a lot of tournament passes were ultimately disqualified because of driving issues and that something like Sure-Path might be the answer. However, it could a lot harder to get used to compare with the switch to ZeroOff. So, 1) is it coming to tournaments? Is it inevitable? 2) will it mess drivers up (at least at first)? 3) should we start practicing with it (driving and skiing)? 4) Will the course path be called out like ZeroOff timings allowing for an immediate re-ride? 5) Will rules need to change?

@gwaterski Does the rental include the boat?

Watched this 50 times already. Closed for the season in Ontario and don't know when my next set will be (FU COVID). I figure, if I watch this video 50x/day, then should be able to start the season next year with 39.5' off as my opener. Amirite?

@Jtim3032 @Horton @Chad_Scott Do any of you foresee a future where SurePath tolerances are read off at the end of each pass like ZeroOff, allowing for immediate re-rides with similar rules used for ZeroOff? Do you think it will allow us to get rid of end-course cameras?

@killer, @drew, @FLeboeuf It's a very confusing situation. I was speaking to our favourite water skiing lawyer (JS) at T-'s pond last week. From what I understood: 1) The person now in charge of slalom courses at the national level is more predisposed to granting approval. Not sure exactly what that means. 2) The issue with spotters is that our governing body (WSWC) wound need to produce some documentation so that we could demonstrate that we are "meeting the safety requirements of our govening body". I don't think there is a such a document. Right now, I would make sure you have a spotter. Also, probably a good idea in general.

@torontoboater Hi. I heard recently that getting a permit for a slalom course is easier now. I don't really have any details except I believe this is managed at a federal level.

My home lake is Puslinch with McClintock Ski Club. This season have skied there, plus Bush’s, Aberfoyle, T’s pond, Carp, Muskoka, Kawartha’s. Everyone, 35+, come to the 3rd annual ibuprofen open in June! With @GHLskier and me.

@Jtim3032 Another question: When I first heard about this system, I assumed the cumulative number would be total deviation from centre. In the example above from @Horton, the total deviation is 16.1cm. What am I missing? Also, I noted from the Canadian rule book, a record pass has to have the boat within 20cm of centre, on the side favouring the skier. That seems pretty generous.

It's a brilliant step in the right direction. I'm not sure how many more steps it will take to replace what we have now.

I have already cancelled two trips to Florida. So I will ski less. I hope it gets warm soon so we can make up for lost time. In the meantime, I work in a hospital and this virus has to be taken very seriously.

Does anyone know anything about the Catalina ski lake in Dominican Republic? What about accommodations? The hotels on the beach in Boca Chica look a little iffy.
