I thought about all the same issues with RPM, fuel consumption, etc., however, after driving and skiing behind a couple, including one with Andy Mapple, I thought it was the best slalom boat I have ever experienced. I ordered a 2011 a couple weeks ago and selected the 409 over the 343, since it is aluminum, 200lbs. lighter, and runs at a lower RPM.


    Can't wait for it to get here. Will be trading in my Malibu LXi, which is a great boat, but didn't compare to the 200's I skied behind.

  2. PRO-EXAMPLE

    Nick Parsons is a Goode Sponsored Pro Skier. Goode has videos of Nick skiing with the PV, however, I have never seen Nick once ski with the vest in competition, including Head to Heads. I'm sure Dave would love to post videos of Nick winning a Pro event with the PV. So obviously, Nick feels he can ski better without it. I feel the same way. I had it for a year and sold it for half of what I paid for it. If I had a back condition I would have used it more, but I felt it inhibited angulation and counter-rotation. I am all for anyone that needs it wearing it, so they may enjoy this sport.

    Having skied the Reg. and currently the Wide, my vote is for the Mid. The reason being that the Mid is suppoose to have the cross course speed of the Reg, plus the turning capability of the Wide. In other words, the best of both worlds. I plan to try the Mid. but not till after Nationals.

    I would say the main purpose of the vest would be to relieve back pain, since the load is transferred from your shoulders to your Center of Mass. It will also help you to keep a quiet upper body. Everything Jeff said is exactly correct and the only competitive advantage is it allows you to ski when you have physical problems that may otherwise prevent your participation. No 35 off skier is going to strap it on and go run 39. As I stated in my previous post I could ski LONGER but not BETTER. I do believe it would help you in your situation to ski when you otherwise could not.

  5. It is disturbing that the people complaining about the Powervest have never skied with one. I have owned one that I bought at Nationals last year and used it only 5 times. The first time I tried it I ran 24 passes. Yes, it does improve endurance but I only view it as a training aid and would never use it in a Tournament. It simply feels a little cumbersome and slightly restricts angulation. It is great if you suffer from back pain and still want to ski. It would probably benefit Old School style skiers better than New School.


    As far as banning it, you can't ban something that is available to EVERYONE. In fact, if anyone wants one I will sell them mine XL for only $375. It is in New condition and only used 5 times and has been hanging in my closet for months.


    Bottom line is while I can ski LONGER with it, I can ski BETTER without it.

  6. Thanks for the response. I was planning on the 5.7 CB. The boat will only be used for Slalom and some Trick on a private lake here in Orlando. (Sea Level).


    I have driven and skied behind two SN200's, both were 5.7 and seemed to have plenty of power. One was with Andy Mapple. He said he would go with the 6.0 if used for jump or higher altitude, otherwise the 5.7 was fine.


    Respect any opinion you have concerning this. Really wondered if the Cat system made the boat quieter or more efficient.

  7. Getting ready to order a 2011 SN200. One item on the options list is the CAT Clean Emissions System........Does anyone have a 200 with this?  Does it effect performance or allow the engine to run quieter at all?


    Would greatly appreciate opinions on this system.

  8. Absolutely, I've been using the Tracker System since 94. It is the cheapest coach out there. Misses nothing. Allows me to experiment with new technique and find out what works and what doesn't without relying on someone else's opinion. You can easily compare your style with videos of pro-skiers you may want to emulate.


    I cannot even imagine skiing without it at this point. I have to compare what I feel on the ski with what is actually happening in real time. I have a mental visualization of what I want to accomplish and this allows me to see how close I come.


    WARNING: This is not for everyone though. My ski partner has tried this setup and does nothing but dwell on the Negative. He always says, "I can't believe I skied that BAD." Has pity parties and swears to quit forever.


    I try to strive for Neuromuscular Memory Control and this is the only way to see how well I've accomplished that.

    I agree, put two lengthwise strips of 250 on each side of the ski, 4 total, and match that with 4 strips of 400 on the binding plate. This setup should work great for you.

    Agree with Scot that the Wide-Ride is a good choice. I am 6'4" @ 235 and have been on the 66" Wide for 2 seasons and Love it. Although, by Nationals in Aug, I plan to be down to 220 and order the Mid-Ride.


    For years I rode the 9100 - 9700 67" Goode's weighing 240-250lbs with no problems. Currently the 67.25 9900 is 362.35 sq. inches and the 66" Mid is larger at 367.35 sq. inches. I believe you would do fine on the Mid-Ride and would suggest you consider trying it. I believe it would handle any rough water better than the Wide at your weight, which is a reason why I plan to switch to it after Nationals.

  11. Roger is right that the weight in the nose of the LXi and 197 will aid tracking. The reason it is not necessary in the SN200 is that the Hydro-Gate will drive the nose down in the Slalom position. If you pull the lever back and open the Hydro-Gate, it will gain around 2mph and 200rpm, and the nose will rise.
  12. I used the superfeet for a couple of years and they worked great....Recently I was Heat Molding new Goode Liners in new Powershell 5's. While hot I  placed them over a pair of running socks that have very padded toes and heels. They really felt great so I decided to try skiing with them. To my surprise they felt better than anything I have ever used before, way better. They seem to make the boot feel stiffer and the ski more responsive.

    I immediately went back to Sports Authority and bought a couple more pair. They are made by Thorlo and called "Thick Cushion Running with Thor-Lon." Sell for about $12.00 a pair.

    I feel they worked way better than the Super Feet from the perspective that they offered more overall support to the whole foot and not just the footbed. You can also fold the top of the sock over the liner, holding the tongue in place, while placing your foot, with liner, into the boot.

    Yes they are. The reason for this is that the rotation of the prop helps the boat to stay level with just a driver and no passenger...ED
