  1. Just thought it was time for me to chime and say dsmart makes a very valid point...I don't think a tshirt with a "set of hairy nuts" is really the look I am going for. And yes, I just invited myself to Ballers Bash. It was 90 here in San Diego yesterday--which is a lot warmer than most of our "summer" days were ...Hoping it will last a few weeks longer. There is a collegiate tournament hosted by UCSD at Mission Bay this weekend. I'm going to drive, judge, support and of course video the Sunday morning jump train wrecks :)
  2. Thanks Than! I appreciate the support and if you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
  3. Hey guys....just a little manipulation of the system...you can vote online using the link above once a day AND you can vote by texting "103410" to 73774... So do both. Every day. And bully others into doing the same. :) Â
  4. Hey there fellow Ballers, My name is Krista Rogers, or as many of you so affectionately call me, The_Krista (For the record, it was a GIVEN nickname and I narcissistically jumped on the bandwagon. Hence my BOS and Twitter handle…) Anyway, I am 24, claim Canyon Lake, CA as my hometown but currently reside in San Diego and skied my first tournament when I was 7. I was pretty heavily involved in competitive skiing up until 2005 when a jumping injury sidelined me and I threw in the towel. I tore my ACL, LCL, MCL, medial and lateral meniscus and fractured my femur and tibia on a landing. Two surgeries and two and a half years later, I could finally function, run and walk as a normal human being. I never thought I would ski again. I can be quoted saying “skiing is a closed chapter in my life, I am grateful for the experiences it gave me but I will never do it again.†After graduating from ASU, I moved to San Diego for a job and started hanging around the lake with my parents again. They convinced me to ski in what would be my first tournament and time back on the water in almost 5 years at the October 2009 Imperial tournament. After enjoying the friendly competition (head to head was sooo much fun), time on the water, in the boat and friends and family I came to realize how important this sport and community were to me. I developed an entirely new perspective on skiing and without delving into any more detail/epiphanies, I’ll just say that brings me to where I am now…itching for my next ride, typing in a cold office with calloused palms, distracted at work and dreaming of a headwind… During the week I wear heels, pumps and other authority-asserting, toe-numbing, lady-like shoes to the firm I work for (I’m a publicist) and on the weekends I rock XXS double-wrapped, tall, super jump Wiley’s on my 88†Goodman’s. I slalom when I can’t jump and I do that on a 65†D3 Z7…which I won at the Imperial Tournament raffle last year (there is still time to sign up…best tournament of the year!) I trick on a D3 for overall but don’t let many people witness that…..My family is a Malibu promo fam and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I am a regular 3 event judge and scorer and assistant 3 event driver and really do enjoy working at tournaments. Even more than wanting to improve on the water, I want to help advance and grow the sport. My best childhood memories are skiing with my family (blood and assumed) out on the lake, participating in competitions together and enjoying the camaraderie during after-tournament BBQs….Alright, so I promised myself I’d keep this short and failed miserably. If you’ve made it to this last line of this over-zealous post, thanks for reading
  5. Hi Chuck--Absolutely, I'd be happy to. Â And Horton- Kodak Playsport is charged and ready to go. I'm on it :)
  6. I will be there...along with at least 5 or 6 other W1, M1 and W2 skiers I've talked into coming too! Some haven't skied in a tournament for years...should be a fun time. This tournment marks my year anniversary of skiing again too :) I guess I can no longer use the "I've taken 5 years off" excuse... I highly encourage anyone sitting on the fence to sign up and come down for this tournament--- great group of people, well-run tournament, delicious bbq, great wine and live music (hopefully again this year??) and of course there is a fabulous raffle...(The reason why I am off the Monza and on a Z7) Anyway, hope to see you all there!
  7. As of Aug 1 it was 90 (full pass at 32...I may have had an issue with my gates at 35 this year haha)...then I skied Nationals and got 4@35 and then this last weekend at Canyon got 2.5@35 so I'm sure that bumped it up a bit. But as of 8/1 it was 90. Soooo we are using that average right? 2010? :)
  8. Steven, Haha true! Except I beat him this tournament! Muahahaha....I think next year the Rogers' clan is going to put our game faces on :) And yea, the Canyon Lake bathtub is the most humbling place to ski...first set back everytime I cross my fingers to run an opener haha LKB, Awesome Jasmine was out there getting some sets in! I'm envious :)  She's a great skier.
  9. lkb, Horton can testify to the amount I practice. But that is going to change! I spent a lot of time on the water before my 5 year hiatus so I think it was a lot like riding a bike, fortunately. :) Lots of fun too.
  10. Thanks Steven! I am fairly certain I have officially been bit by the ski-bug again...I believe the first symptoms are lack of focus at work and constant evaluation of the wind out my office window (yep...it's a head wind right now.) And boys....It sure is lonely at the top :) I'll sign up for September--but make sure you bring it! I suppose I will have to actually start practicing and messing with that fin though. However, this off-the-raffle-table and out-of-the-box setting isn't too shabby...I am 99.9% certain I took more tournament sets this year than practice sets....Anyway, looking forward to some friendly competition...I need something else to think about other than how to better match my toe nail polish to that hot pink on the D3 vest. ;) Game on!
  11. Haha thanks guys!....Landed on my feet at Nats and proof I'm in one piece :)
  12. Theanimal, I suppose this is a bit of a backhanded compliment, but I'll take it :) Thanks, unfortunately, it was an acquired skill....I always just think about holding onto the handle as long as possible and rotating to my back...I honestly walked away just fine, only a bit shook up and went out there and actually crashed again (and broke a fin...it was a tough learning curve this year....video is also on YouTube.) I'm hoping I've sacrificed the body to the ski gods enough for a season or two now though so I won't have to worry about this whole crashing thing for awhile.
  13. Yikes! One ball at 32 off...not so solid. I do feel a sudden urge to really start practicing though! Â And that jump video is going to forever haunt me. Broke a fin, broke my skis, but walked away totally fine...Believe me, I don't take that for granted anymore. Thanks for airing my dirty laundry...and thank goodness they don't give points for style haha.
  14. The_Krista's posts have been hacked! Clearly the_krista would never actually refer to herself in 3rd person...
  15. The camera The_Krista uses is the Kodak Playsport HD. Its 1080p, waterproof up to 10 feet and really cute (most importantly...it comes in purple!) :) Only downside of it is that it doesn't easily mount to a helmet---although The_Krista is sure you could figure something out... The_Krista's solution involves duct tape and zip ties. The_Krista's standard solution for everything, actually. Zoom is pretty decent and it takes still photos as well.  Here : http://store.kodak.com/store/ekconsus/en_US/pd/PLAYSPORT_Video_Camera/productID.169976100
