  1. I would ski til the ice got too thick in upstate NY, but the low water level means the boats are coming out this weekend. But I'll go behind anyone willing to tow me...
  2. When does skier's ability get factored into these things? I'm with Ed - this is like looking at nothing more than the type of oil used in engines of cars involved in accidents. Sure, the intentions might not be evil, but there is so much more to the story.
  3. A similar thing happened to me...slammed the boat into reverse while towing a skier to avoid hitting a jetskier. Amazingly the only damage was a broken windshield, bent mirror frame (which actually points it directly behind the boat now), and the drive shaft broke about 80% through. We didn't find out about the drive shaft til some years later when it finally snapped. This was a 1980 stars & stripes, so it doesn't have nearly the number of options you've got, but it's been running great for years since the accident. I would check the starter, battery cables, anything electrical that might have gotten wet.
  4. Many lakes in upstate NY are falling victim to cyanobacteria infestations. Here in Sodus Bay (off Lake Ontario) there are hundreds of fish piling up, as well as birds. The worst part is sitting here staring helplessly at the glassy calm (though unhealthily green) water as all the weekend warriors are taking the boat traffic elsewhere.
  5. Hey, as long as the water is liquid it'll do.
  6. I know, I'm just frustrated at the whole process. Imagine winning a free Ferrari, having it parked in your driveway, but they won't give you the keys. I've had nothing but great experiences with HO in the past, so this kinda surprises me; granted I'm sure bent rails & the like are a bit higher on their priority list. If anyone out there wants to fabricate a plate for me, by all means give me a holler. The 'drilling' option was to carve out as much material as I could with a hex wrench & fill the cavity with epoxy before putting inserts in, & taking the individual plates off my existing bindings & drilling the 7 holes through those to match the EXO pattern, placing a good sized washer between those plates and the ski. I know, it's about a 2 out of 10 on the scale of good ideas, but it beats out just straight drilling with no inserts or epoxy...
  7. I'm one of the winners from the May 1st drawing. My boots have been sitting in the box for a few months now since the adapter plate is nowhere to be found from the HO rep & a new A1 is out of the question. I'm getting to the point where I might just take a drill to my ski, warranty be damned...anyone have any recommendations? One word of caution for the large-footed folks - I'm a size 12 and with the front binding all the way forward (+2), the rear boot can only go to about -3.5 before the toe touches the heel of the front boot.
