  1. @horton when i said that @usaski1 wasnt registered! And I am skiing about 4 balls past my likely handicap in practice, all I have to do is sandbag this weekend at Aquaplex..... or ski like I did this weekend.

@skidawg I see logan is a few balls ahead of me now, hope I can catch up this weekend! Good job Logan

  2. @Horton Do you let people you don't know ski with you and trade pulls into 38?

I am being kind of negative, but this forum is giving people weird impressions sometimes about what is owed them.

That said I have pulled MANY MANY strangers and new skiiers for nothing or whatever they offered in the past. AFAIK more then anyone else in my neighborhood apart from maybe @Moskier3ev.

  3. @Orlando76 Not to be mean, but I see this attitude come up a lot, you simply CAN NOT drive a skiier into 38 off if you aren't VERY familiar with course skiing and have spent hundreds of hours in the drivers seat in the course. There are a number of things at play here, but just dropping a skier at that rope length can be challenging for the inexperienced. You also probably can't give somebody at that level advice for their skiing so to be brutally honest, you can't offer them anything. It costs $30,000+ a year extra to live at a private lake and most people are trying to cram sets in after work and don't have a ton of time for beginners who can't reciprocate in any way. I agree that people need to learn to ski, but at a private site on others time is not always the best way?

That said if someone would mow my lawn they could ski all they wanted to, so try that!

  4. 2013 Pathfinder platinum, I chose it because it is the most fuel effecient vehicle that can tow the boat. (the explorer is slightly better but the initial $15k premium never pays off). I drive this mostly on road trips for work and rarely towing, so its barely adequate towing is still OK

  5. @gt2003 I cannot be clear enough I don't think the wakes of the latest generation of the big 4 are sooooooo much different then everything that came before them that you are doing yourself a big dis-service considering all those other boats, I imagine that you wait a few months you could get a TXI with 1000 hours for that price and get the open bow you are looking for. Like the wakes on that XTI are going to be monsterous compared to the modern boats. I live in a big ski community and ski and drive and see LOTS of boats, and there is 100% no comparison.

As much as I don't like them even a high hour 197 would be a better boat then those ones

Additionally there is the simplicity of the zero off systems just working, having to deal with the careful throttle up on the perfect pass, and the fact that you will run like a full pass more behind a PP boat then ZO at your weight are both disadvantages (or an advantage I guess if you don't plan on skiing tournaments)

  6. @gt2003 The best boat for $30k is mine by a lot, check this out! The wake will be smaller then any other boat in your price range, which will help you while you are learning a lot.

Edit: Oh i see you talked about my boat already. Well if you are even remotely serious about learning to ski then the wake of the newer boats should be 100x bigger of a concern for you then the open bow is. I ahve been in a number of OB boats and only ever used it exactly once, and the difference in wake between a CP and an LXI is well over 100% especially if you are around 28 MPH.

  7. Bad boat video is not helping, if you had a GH4 with 1080p/60 All-intra and pulled the memory card after every skiier for review there would never be any question. The all-intra compression is important as it means that the compression for each frame is unique, so you don't get any "ghosting" between frames, and you can stop on any given frame and get a perfect picture.

Don't say you can't because of cost either because a GH4 and lens cost less then one of the 4 sets of HD video transmitters they were using at the event, and you could always rent one for less then the cost of one skiiers entry fee.
