  1. Took the family out on the lake the is morning and the number of slalom skiers in my household tripled! 13 year old daughter got up on one ski on her 3rd try and skied all the way down the lake, 10 year old son did the same on his 4th try. My wife did her annual wakeboard run and my other two kids braved the rough water on the kneeboard. What a way to start the day, now off to Hilltop to see the pros!

  2. 2017 is very different than the 2016. 2016 is very low in the back and has a fixed liner. 2017 could be easily mistaken for a full boot with a removable liner, but it is very soft and is not as tall. It was a very easy transition from a full back boot.
  3. My grandparents have had a family place on Vaughn Bay since I was in high school. Lots of fun times skiing on the flat salt water, beach starts and jellyfish. We skied behind anything with a motor for along time but once my aunt and uncle (who live there year round) got a Response LXI I became much more picky.5kkog9hgwv4g.jpg

  4. Thanks to the encouragement of several of ballers (@Mike Gile @MarkTimm @richarddoane @Horton) I showed up at a small tournament (with my ski) for the first time. Everyone was super nice and I had a great time, got to ski a great site, with great boats! It really was not as intimidating as I had made it in my head. I've got a lot of work to do on my skiing but the first hurdle has been cleared. Thanks again!1uaqnnl0z2v5.jpg

  5. Great people, great setting and great skiing! Very cool to see the top guys giving 41 off a rip. The best part might have been three of my kids seeing a 7 year old (Jaden) out running the course. As he was skiing they were all pulling on my arm wanting to try skiing on one! They met him afterwards and spent the rest of the day catching frogs and snakes while "Dad" watched more skiing!
  6. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. For someone who skis a lot open water but on average only gets to ski in a course 2 to 3 times a year, it is hard to think I'll "be ready" to ski in a tournament at any given moment. This year I've got a ski trip planned the Monday and Tuesday before the Ball of Spray tournament so my in my head "I might be ready", but the whole scene is new and intimidating. @Horton if I'm part of the target audience / participant for the event it would be great to do a "first timers guide" with info like, do I have to be a usaw member, when do you show up, when do you ski, what are the rules, how long and show can I start. Maybe you already have this and I just haven't run across it. I'm sure once you have done one it would be much less scary.
  7. I switched to double prodigy bindings the end of last year (came off EXOs). It was an easy transition but I have not had a bad fall yet to test the release. They do run small. I only have 24 sets on them but they appear to be very good quality.
